Thankyou so much this was the best video I have seen on a band saw . Great explanation and no one has mentioned re wheel adjustment or the grinding of the back of the blade. Really appreciate this as my saw keeps cutting to the right so will check the wheel. An excellent video many thanks

Awesome learning video, best I have ever seen,Thanks to the video I managed to fine tune my band saw.
In your video you mentioned blades that are of extra strength, could you tell me where to purchase these blades ?

Glad I could help. A good tempered brand is Viking. You can find them online.

I am working on a project where I am cutting through 5 inches of material to form a Gothic window with stain glass panels. I’ve refreshed myself multiple times on tracking and looked at many UA-cam videos. When it comes to the upper wheel, some suggest that the teeth should be close to the crown others say the blade should be in the center IAM confused.

You want the blade to be centred in the crown when pressure is applied to it as your pushing the wood through when cutting.

I have a grizzly g0555 bandsaw no matter what the blade won’t track in the center. It always moves to the front of wheel I put urathane tires on it didn’t help. I used to have the Lowe’s portercable it did the same thing. I thought it was just a bad saw so I got rid of it and got the grizzly. How do I correct this? Thanks

Hard to say without seeing it in person, but I’d check whether your upper wheel is leaning too much towards the front of the saw. Also check of the upper wheel while the blade is under tension and machine is off is loose. What brand and size of blade are you using, and how much do you spend on the blades?

@@wilsonsfinewoodworking I use the Bosch brand at Lowe’s. Mostly the 1/4 and the 3/16 I use them cause I like to cut shapes. And also I don’t do any resawing don’t have the need to resaw. I always track the blade to the center of the top wheel after one cut it’s moves toward the front. Then as you know the guide bearings are out of adjustment.

Hi very nice video i just bought a real heavy band saw 180cm highth and trying to set this machine up properly.
But i have a qwestion bout how round should the upper weel rubber surfes be?
The 2 rubber tires are new bought from USA so new rubber tires on the up and down weel.
It would be nice to have this explained to me.
Is it even possible to have these weels flat? and not rounded.
My weels is like this the upper weel rounded with a little edge in the midle of the tires.
The guy before me did this because he thought it was rigt.
Dont think its corect or am i wrong here?
And how in that case shoult these rubber weels be rounded.
and how do you fix this.
    regards

Sorry for the late reply. The blade should ride on the crown of the tire. Convex shape. I’m not sure why that edge is for in the centre of the rubber wheel. The wheel is shaped this way to make it easer to track. This is me guessing it probably has to do with two reasons it shaped this way. One it’s better for heat displacement on the blade. More pressure in centre of round surface with a flat blade. Two, torque on the blades twist. Also precision tuning.

There are two type of bandsaw tyre, flat and crowned, both are correct according to the make of saw.Crowned are probably more common.
Some wheels have groove and the tyre will have a corresponding moulding in the rubber to fit into that groove to locate the tyre in the correct position
