Thanks for the video. here I am 6 years later reaping the benefits of you labor. Thanks again for all you do for us out hear viewing the good the bad and the ugly.
I am about to work on my lights and this helps a lot especially the great attitude. I am not even going to wait til I have a bad day at work. Thanks for what you do!
Jeepers, Tim. After almost 4 yrs I finally joined the club! I was bush hogging with my head swiveled all around watching the tailwheel and didn't see the tree on my blind side. I knew I could count on you for the procedure to change out a tail light! Thanks for your outstanding videos!
Just another great reason for having a John Deere. Not good when you break something but it's always a good feeling when you fix something. And an even better feeling when you fix it right. You're right, it's a good way to unwind after a hectic day. You know what's even better? The day you get to retire. THAT is a great day!
Nice video, Tim. I just broke my left tail-light mowing today after owning my 1023E for less than 1-month. At least I feel confident that I can fix it after your video. THANKS!
Oh my gosh thank you so much I did not see those individually zip ties color coded wire thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars from the dealership lights haven't been working for months
Hey Tim, SUPER FIX...been there done that got the T-shirt. While I had my tractor at the dealer getting some repairs, the tech noticed my busted tail light. Told me a story of them replacing at least 1 per week. GREAT tip from him...Install the lights on the INSIDE of the ROPS. Works perfect! Keep up the videos. Second, to make the wiring easier, I just cut the wires and used blue connectors to put them back together with heat shrink tubing to seal up good.
These videos are great. Broke that exact same light and have to replace it. I think what I might do different is cut the wires on the broken light up top and use those to pull the new wires down. Great job as always!
Glad to hear that you are felling better after your heart issues. Regarding the taillights I did the exact same thing on my 1023E, after installing the light guards I didn't realize the brackets are a bit wider and I caught it on post that I've mowed around without the light guards with enough clearance. The extra stress on the bracket caused the plastic on the taillights to crack so I had to replace it. Just one piece of advice, I removed the bolt from the side-to-side brace on the ROPS just above the fender and fishing the new wires into the ROPS was a piece of cake. Great videos, thanks for the good work. Take care.
Do you think there any issues with mounting the lights on the inside of the ROPS? I dont use a backhoe or anything like that so they wouldn't be in the way.
Took my 1025r lights and put them inside roll bar. Left to right.Right to left. Unplug unbolt and bolt inside plug back in haven't replaced a light since and can get closer around trees or street signs in the ditch. JUST FYI
I broke mine on a low hanging roof on a shed then I put them inside the rops seems to work a lot better I have clipped tree limbs on my 1023e since then and no taillight damage
+Duke Snyder thanks Duke. You've been one of our long time viewers and commenters. Hopefully you can take advantage of our new coupon code @ greenfarmparts for 7% off. TTWT. That is one thing we can do to thank you for your loyalty.
Hi Tim, from Stu, of Staten Island, N.Y.. I enjoy watching and learning from your videos very much! I do not have a tractor as yet but should have a 1025R by the end of this Summer? You did a nice replacement job on the taillight housing, but I would have merely cut the existing 4 wires about 4 or 5 inches through the outside of the ROPS bar and then spliced the matching colors together with the new wires. As long as there was NO damage to the 4 wires from impact, it would have saved you the time and effort of routing the new wires inside the ROPS. If there was any crimping or damage, then simply cut under the damaged wires and discard. This way, you would not have to cut the zip ties and unplug anything under the tractor. Well, the end does justify the means I guess as you accomplished the same goal in the end? Please understand that in NO WAY is this a criticism of any kind or intention! Keep up the great work you do for the tractor industry! best regards to you and the family and stay safe!
My famous saying was always.. Good enough for this address. Lol. I got the right stuff to get those screws out that, broke off inside the threads, or so I was told. but haven't had a chance to try the tap outs yet. You use a drill bit first, the a special drill bit after, but you drill into the hole in reverse with it to get the screw out. I will keep you posted. I've never done a UA-cam video before, but as soon as I have time and figure it out.. I'll send you the left footed pedals that I have on mine. Where I had them done, and the price. Not cheap, that's for sure.
sounds good. ...and I have an idea for how to show the 3 point connection as part of another project video...won't be soon due to being overloaded with spring projects (tilling, backhoe work, etc), but I'll eventually get to it. I need to re-work a shield to make it easier to attach the 3 point lift arms.
Sounds good Tim. I totally understand. I've been backup with diy projects around my house. Biggest is that, I demoed my entire basement man cave down to cement walls and floor. I'm redoing everything from reframing it, new/better insulation, new electrical, lighting, vapor barrier, and the whole nine. It's been taking me time, but I'll get it done no worries. Thanks for having an idea on the 3 point video. I look forward to it, whenever you have time down the road.
i actually broke both my lights off at different times. i fixed the plastic bolt socket with plastic epoxy. i ended up installing them on the inside of the rop bars, had to reverse them, but they will not be broken off again. hope this helps you for next time.
they won't fit on the inside when using the backhoe. There is not much room in there when the seat is turned around. If you don't have a backhoe, yes..put them on the inside. They are too easy to break off! Thanks for watching.
I broke the same light. Thanks so much for the video. Stupid question but is the light you changed the left light or the right light. Want to make sure I order the right light. Thanks again.
What is the part number for that assy and where did you get it? I've knocked mine off so many times I'm thinking of mounting them on the INSIDE of the roll bar.
Really perplexed as to why no brand seems to put these light brackets on the INNER edge of the rops. Like, I get for signalling and passing purposes it might have some microcosmic benefit - but not if the light got swept off two years ago.
I've searched and searched, and can't seem to find a tutorial on how to remove the pins holding the upper section of the ROPs. I own a 1 week old '18 1025r. Folded down all the way it interferes with the 3 point too much, and I'd like to remove it like yours, Tim - looks awesome!
I put mine back on for the safety Sally’s...and honestly, there IS a lot of possibility of these narrow little guys turning over. I’ve been close several times.
first - I'd like to thank you for answering my comments. Second, I understand and accept the risk. Would you please enlighten me as to how the pins are removed? I don't want to have the ROPs permanently cut and re-welded as I've seen many people do at GTT. I will primarily use my machine for mowing once I get through a few loader projects I have stacked up. Thanks for the videos, they make my day sitting in the office wishing I was home on my machine much more bearable!
looks nice. guestion just ordered a 4052m and told my salesman I wanted ROPS lighting and he said he would add them above the taillights. I wonder if I should suggest to him to make sure he gets the brush guard around the taillights as well. That way the extra lighting can mount right to the brushgaurd like yours does?
That's nothing. I hit my right side one last summer mowing, and not only did I break it.. But I also got really lucky, and broke off the screws that holds them on to the tractor inside the threads. 😞😢. Any ideas or advice on how to fix that??? I hear you about the $80 too. Pricey for what you get. By the way.. Where did you get those really cool big lights with brackets that, goes around the taillights? Looks like you also have a rear light off of the back of one of those too?? Also how much was it for that setup, that I'm asking for above? Plus. Do you happen to have a step by step video, on how you installed those 2 lights. The rear backup light and how you wired everything? If not? That'd be a great video to do. Any advice for what I'm sending you about all of the above comments, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Tim.
+Nrfa all 3 of those lights (the two front and one rear) were options I purchased from the dealer. Same with the brackets. They are guards to protect the red and yellow lights, required for the auxiliary front lights. ...so I don't have much on those as they came with my tractor. Whew, getting those broken screws out will not be easy. Have you tried yet? The 'standard' approach to something like that is to drill a small hole in the middle of the broken bolt, and use what we called an 'ez-out' in that hole to screw out the remaining portion of the bolt. Tractor Time with Tim my 1025r the actually there 2016 TLB show room model that I purchased. I'm wondering if I can purchase after the fact? Thank you on the advice about the screws that, broke off inside of the threads to the rear right taillight of my,"JD Hog!" You have Johnny and I have JD Hog, from the Dukes of Hazard. His motto was cash on the barrel hand. Lol. I also just bought a new post hole digger for JD this past Wednesday. I'll figure out how to do videos on here to show you. I'm also an above R knee amputee, so I had to have JD modified just to drive it. I'll show you that as well. I drive left footed, just like I do in my truck. Thanks again!
+Nrfa I would love to see that left leg drive mod. We have another subscriber which wanted that same mod (unless you have changed your user id :-). ). Yes, the light kits are available for install by the dealer. Your dealer will know all about them.
Tractor Time with Tim Hey Tim. Here is the reply message that you had sent to me, regarding a subscriber of yours wanted the same mod as me. If he hasn't purchased a tractor yet?? Is it mandatory to break the lights within the first month. I think I broke mine second time I mowed
I broke the orange tail light today but not the red one is there a place you can buy just the orange one?
ok - got the number - tear up the canopy and you might get Johnny an enclosed cabin that comes with one :-)

What is the part number for that assy and where did you get it?
I've knocked mine off so many times I'm thinking of mounting them on the INSIDE of the roll bar.
In the description.
How did you mount your toolbox bracket so the toolbox doesn’t interfere with the backhoe or the low-mounted tail lights?
I should do a video on that, I guess. I did that before we were posting videos to UA-cam.

Tim where is your video showing the 1025r tail lights inside the ROPS
+Lum Michigan hi. My tail lights have always been on the outside. They must be on outside with backhoe.
Where did you get the work lights that go on top of your tail lights? I'm thinking of getting an led light bar to sit on top of my roll bar.
+Tim Marks
Thanks. The thing I like about your lights is the fact that they kind of hang off the side illuminating the side and front of the tractor. I've noticed at night when working with the loader that some of the headlight beam is blocked by the bucket. Does having those extra work lights mounted to the taillights remedy some of that problem?
+Tim Marks
Yea. I get what you are saying. I have an led light bar on top of my gator. It is on its own switch. When I'm out riding the pasture at night this bar is extremely bright for at least 200 feet. I'm eventually going to purchase one for the tractor. EBay has them extremely cheap. Maybe with this I could mow in the late evening or night with these hot Alabama summers.
+Tim Marks
K. Gotcha.
where did you get the guards for the forward facing lights? Those lights blind me on mine.
+Tim Marks thanks
I placed mine on the inside of the roll bars. just put right on left side and vice versa, harder to break, don't ask how I know.
Can’t really do that with the backhoe.

Also, I have scratched the paint in several areas this summer. I need some advice on how to fix that without making it look even worse.
How do you hook up the rear work light?
If you have 1025R, the wiring is at the base of the ROPS.
Tractor Time with Tim thank you.
kind of a poor placement on the lights if you ask me, i added a couple extra aux lights up higher on the rop bar
I'd like to see a video of that
My salesman told me to move to inside of rops. I did but after I cracked while mowing. Better location.
Yes, good suggestion as long as you don’t have backhoe.
why cant you put the lights on the inside
probably, not enough aftermarket sales in that (great) idea.
Why not splice the light at the top?
No need. New one came with compete cord. Every splice is a potential failure point in my experience.
Thanks for responding. I broke mine tonight on a branch that stuck out a bit too far. Any aftermarket ideas?
Well, we all break them…join the club.
I recommend purchasing from GreenPartStore.com use code ttwt for free shipping. I think there is a direct link in the description.
Oh, and consider adding the steel guard to protect them.
Tractor accessories are items to tear off your tractor. I know first hand.....I've done my share of them!
I moved my light to the inside of the ROPS. Works fine and don't get broken on trees and things.
Works great as long as you don’t have the backhoe. Too cramped in there with the backhoe
Were is your HAT!!!
I don't want to alarm you Tim but you have a hole in your haircut
Uhoh! Lousy barber must have made a mistake.
