The building and sinking of our 9’ model titanic at Lucky Lake School. This is the final project with my students before I retire from my 32 years at Lucky Lake school.
The skills these kids have developed from building this is outstanding, not only will they remember this experience for the rest of their lives, you have likely sparked a desire in many of them that will transcend your classroom and will drive them to do things they never dreamt they’d have the desire to do. The world needs more educators like you.

As a Titanic enthusiast and "rivet counter" I have to say I am extremely impressed by what these kids have done. You have taken history and learning and combined the two into something they can be very proud of. They seemed very excited to be able to bring the project to fruition even though it took a lot of time, patience, and a considerable amount of skill to complete the build. Like I said I'm kind of known in the Titanic community as a "rivet counter" which basically means that I know that ship inside and out from keel to masthead and all I can say is bravo and well done!
if you know so much you would see how utterly horrible this model is. that doesnt mean that theyve done a great job tho im just saying its hella innacurate

I have to say I am also what would be called a rivet counter like another one of your commenters. WHAT you and those student built is nothing short of impressive. You have brought history to life. My hat off to you sir and all your students.
It probably took years on that you know You're a real jerk you wouldn't even be able to create a single tiny lifeboat! Maybe you should think about what you're say! And if you keep being rude nobody would wanna hang out with you!
Thank you. I’m sure if you counted the rivets they would be way off. This is what we call a standoff model and is not even to precise scale. It was originally built for an experiment in sinking. Appreciate your comment. Thanks

9 ft is massive for a model and for it to have lights it brings it to life. I myself made a 9 1/2 ft model of titanic last summer and let me say, ITS A TON OF WORK. Going from the bottom up is hard especially when your by yourself doing this. Drilling out the portholes for my model was INSANE. I at least had up to 400 holes on the hull (I drilled them out myself) and even more up on the top. Sinking it was cool to watch but dang it was hard to keep it level so I ended up used some rocks inside. I never thought someone else would make a model of the ship that's 9ft from scratch. This is some excellent work right here. Real inspiration too!!
It just makes me think that if its that detailed to make, imagine how much pride the workers at Belfast at building such a massive ship like this in real life - the Titanic WAS truly Titanic, it's just a shame that such a glorious ship had to meet such an inoble end.
I had a fairly large model too that I built and ended up using gravel as ballast, it could be "raked" around until the model was perfectly balanced and then hotglue poured over it forming one solid mass that stayed in one place and she floated and sank perfectly!
ua-cam.com/video/CjaqdgiCifA/v-deo.html The model is this movie is 55 Feet long. Not sure if you have seen this movie but it will bring you to tears, and I'm not saying when it will do that. Enjoy.

As a hobby modeler, I'm very impressed with the scale and accuracy of this build. I think the biggest thing I like about the video is seeing that you didn't compromise the ship in an attempt to create your most realistic scene of the sinking. In other words, I appreciate that you did not split the boat in two, like so many others on here have, just to make a video. Excellent build, by all involved!

A year later and I want to add, this is probably the single best educational experience these kids may ever have. Why? It's not merely about the "Titanic" and the tragedies involved, though certainly that is captivating. It's about giving kids real tools, responsibility, and letting them use their small hands to create something of importance. They measured, they developed patience, they glued, made real decisions, and created something which will be displayed with immense pride. Thirty years from now, this experience will still loom large in their individual lives and choices. If this / these teachers don't win a national award for first rate education, something is wrong with the system. This is GREAT teaching.

This is just beautiful. They show that cooperation can create something amazing, and they show their love for this lovely ship. These kids will move on to inspire the world that anyone can be anything they want to be and do what they desire❤
Both agreed and disagreed, I prefer the Brittanic, mostly because of the large davits and the Hospital ship colors, she wears em nice and is too often forgotten
So cool to see much a scale model of the Titanic look in water! The most immersive element of the sinking was the darkness ! Titanic sank on a moonless night, when the ships lights went out it was pitch black in the middle of the freezing ocean
Absolutely amazing, that model turned out amazing, those kids did a fantastic job making that model. It's so cool to see hands-on learning about an important piece of history. That's probably something those kids will remember.

Imagine if there was a splitting mechanism where there was a small amount of gunpowder in the hull and then when the water level reaches a certain area the gun power would explode splitting the ship
Muy buen trabajo como quisiera haber estado en ese proyecto y de verdad que les quedo hermoso u como ustedes yo soy un gran año del titanic bueno chao ✌️
how is it one of the most beautiful models of the ship youve seen, if it doesnt even look like titanic from an enthusiasts point of view and wasnt made to do so either

I think having these young folk use their own hands to build a project this size is quite fantastic. I think they’ve done an admiral job and I’m sure it will be remembered by all of them forever and some just might use the skills they learned along the way. This is what kids need to be doing instead of their faces buried in the screens of phones and games. In this case they also learned about a tragic sinking of a ship from over a hundred years ago.

You and your students did an amazing job! My son would have loved to partaken in this project! 🚢🚢Sad to see these precious children wearing the useless face masks though😔 happy retirement! God bless🌻
@Robert Miller If masks worked, nobody would have gotten sick lol! Go back and enjoy your lockdowns for something that has about a zero percent chance of killing you if you're under 70 and in reasonably good health. 👍🏻
@Robert Miller Paper surgical masks do ZERO. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb, lying or both. A properly worn N95 mask "might" offer some protection but all these stupid bits of cloth people stick over their mouths do nothing. As for caring about other people, all you mask zealots care about is punishing those who refuse to think exactly like you've been brainwashed to think. You also seem to want to punish children, who are at no risk at all.

I’m just thinking, if I saw this In my classroom, I would literally point out any inaccuracies to the real one. Forget I said that, this is pretty well made though
Wonderful to see a team of kids working together… haven’t watched to the end of this video as making this comment. Yet i so hope in the end they recover the kids work
Yep, White Star wanted to test out different prop designs and they put a 4 bladed turbine on the Olympic. Titanic did in fact have a 3 bladed central turbine.
It’s very well done. A ship that sank with hundreds of wealthy young & old personnel, recreated by the youngest of the young over a century later. Titanic will forever be among one of the most famous historical stories and disasters for centuries to come. Outstanding work from you all, god bless you all and the ones who perished with the 883-ft liner of White Star Line.
Very impressive efforts by an extremely talented group of future leaders! Extraordinary craftsmanship and care went into this incredible replica! Let's see Cameron beat this beautiful work! Well-deserving of every award that can be bestowed on such gifted model makers!
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! What a cool project to learn about so many different things! History, wood working, painting etc! So nice to see :) i am impressed by the outcome of the model! So accurate! Nicely well done!
I appreciate u teaching something worthwhile instead of critical race theory or that there are 5 different sex because that is poisoning our kids with insane and wrong teachings.
Incredible educational work… to recreate, one of history’s failures, where man learnt the true power of mother nature, and our arrogance cost thousands of lives, yet we have grown and adapted and the children involved in this have learnt so many skills for their futures Bravo
You are an excellent master of wood woorking! This Titanic model is an awesome masterpiece in all senses: detail, proportion and sinking emulation... Enjoy your retirement days with honor, your students learned well from you, Master! Greetings and all my respect from Mexico!

Awesome job! I’ve been a Titanic fan since I was a kid. Even did a school report on it with a Revell model (that I still have). I wish my school shop class had done something like that for us! I would’ve volunteered to stay after hours! Lol!

I just recently went to the Titanic Museum in pigeon forge TN which kinda renewed my interest in the ship, and I can safely say this seems like a museum quality piece.
This is amazing! Just at 4:47, that picture of the propellers is actually Olympic being tested with a 4 bladed central propeller in 1929, it was most likely that Titanic had a 3 bladed central propeller
I just want to say great job kids building this in school bring back a lot of memories when I was going Franklin Middle School in Green Bay Wisconsin we built Titanic and art class it was a lot of fun playing Black memories
Wow..,these kids are amazing. Building a replica of the Titanic is no small feat. Here we have the perfect example of having a project and seeing it to completion. One or all of them will work on James Cameron's design team.
Wooow. Absolutelly BEAUTYFULL JOB Your STUDENTS.❤❤❤ I love R.M.S TITANIC, OLIMPYC, BRITANNIC. The best BIG TITANIC MODELL: The Lighting, STEAM ENGINE BLADES, fenomenal Nice.❤❤
Nice job. My own titanic will finish at 32 feet and mannable with a three person crew. Thinking of sailing her into New York on July 17 next year. Same day the Titanic was due to arrive.

This is just beautiful. They show that cooperation can create something amazing, and they show their love for this lovely ship. These kids will move on to inspire the world that anyone can be anything they want to be and do what they desire❤
Stunning model of the beast looking ship ever! :)
Both agreed and disagreed, I prefer the Brittanic, mostly because of the large davits and the Hospital ship colors, she wears em nice and is too often forgotten
Thank you appreciate your comment
thats debatable. both parts of your comment i mean.
So cool to see much a scale model of the Titanic look in water! The most immersive element of the sinking was the darkness ! Titanic sank on a moonless night, when the ships lights went out it was pitch black in the middle of the freezing ocean
This is a very good Titanic model.
Thankyou 😊
Absolutely amazing, that model turned out amazing, those kids did a fantastic job making that model. It's so cool to see hands-on learning about an important piece of history. That's probably something those kids will remember.
Thanks for your comment👍🏻

this is sick, you should sink it with a GoPro onboard too
Yes that is a good idea

That's really cool that kids can do a project like this, and even work the dangerous machinery.
Yes, it was a very fun and worthwhile project. Thanks for the nice comment 😊
Imagine if there was a splitting mechanism where there was a small amount of gunpowder in the hull and then when the water level reaches a certain area the gun power would explode splitting the ship
Genius
That would be cool😊👍🏻
Very impressive and great for the kids. I would have loved a project like that. Outstanding video too.
Thank you I appreciate this👍🏻😊
Muy buen trabajo como quisiera haber estado en ese proyecto y de verdad que les quedo hermoso u como ustedes yo soy un gran año del titanic bueno chao ✌️
One of the most beautiful models of the ship I have ever seen, the skill and craftsmanship superb. Love for them to build one for me.
how is it one of the most beautiful models of the ship youve seen, if it doesnt even look like titanic from an enthusiasts point of view and wasnt made to do so either

Very cool project. Turned out very nice and seems like the kids enjoyed it as well.
Yes, we all did. Thankyou for your comment
wow rare caliber of kids. this was real impressive your dam great teacher, wish i had you as a teacher
That’s Amazing! Great job
Thanks!
I love that the whole family worked on this project TOGETHER… as a team :)
It’s moments like this and good conversation around the dinner table and family trips that bring families closer together.
Great job btw, looks fantastic 👍

So good to see the young ones enjoying being creative.
you giy's are the best i love titanic
I one day like titanic
Thanks 🙏
I think having these young folk use their own hands to build a project this size is quite fantastic. I think they’ve done an admiral job and I’m sure it will be remembered by all of them forever and some just might use the skills they learned along the way. This is what kids need to be doing instead of their faces buried in the screens of phones and games. In this case they also learned about a tragic sinking of a ship from over a hundred years ago.
You are correct, thanks for your comment😊

You should. It’s a great project. Inexpensive to build.Lots of fun!
Very impressive work. Congrats to all involved. As a former teacher, I know how important it is to get kids engaged
and make learning fun. Well done.

Your project is inspiring! Finishing your career with such a nice project is just awesome! What did you teach?
Shop, science and art mostly. Thanks for your kind words. Appreciated 😊
Bravo les enfants ! Excellent travail en équipe pour construire puis sauver le Titanic. 😊👍
You and your students did an amazing job! My son would have loved to partaken in this project! 🚢🚢Sad to see these precious children wearing the useless face masks though😔 happy retirement! God bless🌻
They all love to scare these poor kids with useless cloth masks that do nothing. A whole generation of sheep being created.
Thank you, I appreciate your kind words 👍🏻
@@sonicimperium your right😒 homeschool for us😁💪🏻
@Robert Miller If masks worked, nobody would have gotten sick lol!
*Absolutely amazing truly incredible beautiful astounding job!!!*
Why are you not my teacher?
Because your not in there school

Rip to the ones who died on the Titanic
Well done to all the kids who built this. Its great to see them using practical engineering skills which is something that lacks in our world now.

Just wow !!!
Thankyou
This needs to be my teacher cause this teacher is the goat!
I’m just thinking, if I saw this In my classroom, I would literally point out any inaccuracies to the real one.
Forget I said that, this is pretty well made though
Ay dude same
Guess your a detail person? You would find inaccuracies. This is not a true scale model. Thanks for your comment 😊
That is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! What an incredible class project this truly was!!! You guys did an incredible job!!! 👏👏👏

Wish if I could have that titanic. I think it will be my dreams.
Hope you do it

@@MacGyver0692 Alright I will try to make one.
Wonderful to see a team of kids working together… haven’t watched to the end of this video as making this comment. Yet i so hope in the end they recover the kids work
Fun fact: The pictures of the stern are of the Olympic, Titanic had a three bladed central prop.
Yep, White Star wanted to test out different prop designs and they put a 4 bladed turbine on the Olympic. Titanic did in fact have a 3 bladed central turbine.
@@lazer2238 false
@@Ricklet0ons Actually there's some interesting stuff about this. Primary sources saying that Titanic had a four-bladed central prop are hard to find.
@@jackmatthew1880 I'm gonna need to research about this
how to ruin the moment but you are telling the truth
It’s very well done. A ship that sank with hundreds of wealthy young & old personnel, recreated by the youngest of the young over a century later. Titanic will forever be among one of the most famous historical stories and disasters for centuries to come.
Outstanding work from you all, god bless you all and the ones who perished with the 883-ft liner of White Star Line.
jeez even this is making me come close to tears
Yes, that is interesting 🤔 😊👍🏻
I wanna do this
I wish I did this in shop class when I was a kid! Amazing job! Bravo!
Thanks 😊
Why couldn't MY high school shop class do something like this? (fake pout)
Very impressive efforts by an extremely talented group of future leaders! Extraordinary craftsmanship and care went into this incredible replica! Let's see Cameron beat this beautiful work! Well-deserving of every award that can be bestowed on such gifted model makers!
Thanks for your kind and encouraging words👍🏻😊
cameron beat this work in his 1997 movie "titanic" when he made an actual replica
Titanic might me gone by 2030
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Except the front everything was perfect! I loved it❤
the team did a very great job. outstanding works. keep it up

Incredible educational work… to recreate, one of history’s failures, where man learnt the true power of mother nature, and our arrogance cost thousands of lives, yet we have grown and adapted and the children involved in this have learnt so many skills for their futures
Bravo
Great Idea! Interesting to look at the children to fix the parts and do the coloring..
that is awesome to see kids building the titanic couldn't think of a better way to teach history
