I see so many have hand pain with blanket yarn yet I'm the opposite. Bernat is great on my hands. Chenille yarn hurts them so badly.
Isn’t that strange! Maybe it has to do with hook size? I’m not sure but one way or the other I gotta either stick with one type of yarn or only use bernat sparingly on small makes and then immediately switch back to chenille
@ComfortLoops one thing that actually helped a lot for me with making bernat easier was switching to in line hooks. I saw annie caraway art (the infamous loaf cat creator) say to try them and ordered a set of 3 Susan bates in line hooks (sizes 5.5, 6, and 6.5) and it's a night and day difference. I don't see myself using them for other yarns but it made bernat a lot easier, even the not so soft type. Didn't have pain before but struggled with bernat at times until I switched.
I think a big reason why bernat works for me is it's all I can actually reasonably get a hold of so I dont have much of a choice, its gotta work or I cant crochet as much haha. I have no craft stores near me to pick up other types of yarn so I started with bernat and just order what I can online since i know it works for me. Thankfully, we are planning a trip tomorrow nearly 2 hours away to get to a michaels and Joann's so I can pick up posh, baby bear, and sweet snuggles lite/chenille home slim. It's always sold out online and I'm okay with splurging in person because I can't see the total til I'm already at checkout vs online watching the total go higher and higher and then just back out. Before that, all I've tried is bernat, Himalaya dolphin baby (absolutely kills my hands) and some junk from hobby lobbys brand that literally just fell apart if you looked at it wrong.

Honestly they dried almost without a trace but they really soaked ones are permanently in my kids collection
