    For flexure: when extreme fibre reaches permissible stress, it transfers the force to an inner fibre, without failure. However, for compression member under load, all the points on the C/S get equally stressed & there is no such scope for force transfer. So, FOS is more for direct compression in comparison to that in bending compression

    For strain,stress diagrams I've referred every video but no one explained about it
    I wasted my whole day for this concept but finally watching this video helped me to understand
    thanks a lot

    Wonderful explanation!
    Sir, for serviceability limit state design, why the loads are not factored?
    Do we ckeck deflection with less amount of loads or with higher (factored loads)?
    What is the logical physical meaning behind that?

    Sir,
    As per IS 456(2000) table no.21
    M10 grade concrete having direct permissible compressive stress is 2.5Mpa
    So why the large difference between 10Mpa & 2.5Mpa.

      That is the safety factor that is taken by IS 456:2000, crushing failure is catastrophic and hence some special confinement reinforcement has to be provided, therefore a more safety factor is assumed for direct compression.

    Sir,
    Why stress-strain diagram behaviour of concrete in direct compression and in pure bending
    is different.
    And why stress-strain diagram behaviour of steel in direct tension and in pure bending is same.

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  4 роки тому

      It comes from the fact of how concrete fails in both cases, in case of bending there are different compression and tension zone created in concrete, where is direct compression it fails by crushing or bursting. Steel does not have this distinction.

    sir how can we say lsm is more economical than wsm...as we factored both loading and material stresses in lsm which could make sections over safe than wsm section?

    • @DCBAonline
      @DCBAonline  4 роки тому

      Because sections you get is WSM are generally bigger than that of LSM
