Ill never understand why Kuja seems to be forgotten on the list of scariest final fantasy villians...dude manipulates events to casue all the major nations to war and then to obliterated, straight up tanks Bahamut's mega flare with nothing to show but a small cut, then goes crazy and literally wipes out a planet by himself, he may look weird but in terms of what hes able to do hes kind of in a league of his own
Greetings! A bit late but the reason Kuja is overlooked isn't cause he doesn't have a list of impressive feats he really does. It is mainly because For half the game he isn't really the main antagonist of your party. Along with being usurped at the end by a stupid boss fight that was kinda out of no where. Then as the cherry he kinda has his moment of closure and peace at the very end of the story which makes him sympathetic. Kuja is a surprisingly well written deep character that is probably the most relatable FF villain out there, but as far as Evil scary Villain's these things work against him in that specific category!

Sephiroth is scarier. Kuja just felt... Generic. Albeit, I haven't finished the game yet.
@@aliasv6964 I mean i see what you mean, I honestly think it was the outfit that did it for most though, as petty as it sounds. Because really what you're saying is little different than Sephiroths role in 7. Seriously if we're being honest Kuja was everybit involved as Seph was, perhaps even moreso. He just didn't have the mystery or shock value that Seph did.(well mysterious sure but where kuja had words&riddles, seph just had to look at the screen with fire in the back and the effect was multiplied). Can we honestly say Sephiroth would've been hailed as the greatest villain if Aerith didn't get impaled by him? Remove that one event and the results aint too dissimilar really. idk something to think about i guess. They were both great villains with very different personalities. 9 was my favorite, but i do agree Seph was far more forboding.
@@stiff2077 Sorry I am gonna have to disagree. Sephiroth is presented early into the game before you even leave midgar and even more so after. Kuja shows up at the end of Disc 1 and that is just when you see him. You don't get anything about him till later. I think 9 is very underrated Kuja especially, but don't agree with this point. It kinda further exasperated upon cause FF7 has so much expanded universe content that fleshes out sephiroth even more it just not far to compare current day sephiroth with other FF villain's. I mean I guess 4 had some spin offs too but >...>
Though I don't even try to argue 8 has the best boss though it is my favorite. Actually loved its story and setup, but i'm told by everyone it just cause i'm a girl and not cause of any merits.
One Winged Angel is iconic, even the most casual FF fans are probably aware of it. Dancing Mad is a musical artistic masterpiece. But this? Dark Messenger just hits different and I love it
Since we're getting a ff7 remake, I want a ff9 remake because it is one of the best games in the series

Kuja stands out pretty well among FF villains if you think about it. Since FFIX is laser focused on character plots of identity and mortality, he is a great foil to the character development of the main cast. In particular he seems to be the opposite of Vivi. Vivi wants to do good and grow as a person in the little time he has. Kuja, conversely, wants to destroy all life if he is destined to die.
This.. IS THE POWER OF TRANCE!
I like how this remix keeps the concert/performance vibe of the original that seems to be lost in others

This song is truly underrated when it comes to FF final boss themes. Uematsu shifted more towards hard rock and prog with this soundtrack and this theme more than fits the bill. The heavy drums and the killer riffs are bombastic. Well done! Excellent cover!
The only issue is that Kuja isn't the final boss :/ fucking Necron is

@@lunareclipsed5071 Technically Necron is the final stage of the final boss segment of the game, you fight kuja and Necron back to back, Necros becomes like a "super final boss".

I started playing Final Fantasy IX with the release in 2001 as my very first FF. I enjoyed this game HELL A LOT and i was (still am) extremely big fan of Kuja en this song. Today, 16 years later, is the first time that i heard a remake like this AND I FRIGGING LIKED IT!

The epicness combined with the seriousness of the fight ahead and then the deep evil tone in this song makes it one of my favorite main boss themes.

Dat drop at the end.....brings back the, "ULTIMA!" move Kuja did out of nowhere when I managed to beat him the first time. "Oh son of a super saiyan 4s pasty brother FFFUUU" even my old playstation 2 running the ps1 disc was skipping. Could have been the disc but seriously the console acted like it just wanted to explode on me the whole time and THEN THAT ULTIMA.....UGGHHH I need to go back and finish this game...

@@jonathangarcia6658, Sorry. Sephiroth isn't a real Villain. Just lost guy with oedipus syndrome. Kefka and Kuja are equal on the number 1 for best FF evil guys. Kuja has extra points for his look and way of speaking.

I’m at a work and the first 5 seconds of this song brought tears to my eyes I had to bow my head before someone thought I was having a mental break down. Beautifully recreated. This foreboding song and ff9 as a whole had a huge impact on me as a kid. Thanks

This song hits so hard in game, so epic. Kuja really is an incredibly unique villain and even a bit underrated.
a bit terrifying too by being unpredictable and almost comes victorious compared to other ff villains
I didn't give this one credit at first but that is a killer riff at the end that ties it all together.

This is possibly one of the most underrated themes ever from Final Fantasy, like you can't even deny that its opening is possibly one of the best if not the best from any boss theme in the franchise

Dude if you ever do the standard battle theme of FF9, that would be the greatest thing ever. people always seem to either skip over that song or if they do cover it it never gets the right treatment in the bass department so it always feels hollow and soulless
