Wheeler is a 2003 trx 350 ES foreman, it was struggling to change gears, especially when cold, would slowly get slightly better to shift, but also would trigger something and then gear indicator would flash. Just took it for a little rip and working good 🤞🏼🍻
I don’t mind the animals unlike dude below me and it helped me a lot.my shift motor was completely different.wish I could show u what I had to do but the brushes came out and was no way to get them back in aside from using paper clips poked through the plastic housing, jammed in front of brushes to hold them in so I could position the shift motor back in place then pull pins out slowly so brushes set correctly.but my gears in there were awfull too.thanks for the video
2010 rancher electric shift. Shifts through all gears fine if you’re stopped but if you get on it it will go from 3-5 or shifting down it goes from 5-3. Only when going kinda fast.
There is a shift sensor it may be the issue but I’ve not ran into that issue the worst would be internal shift fork bent ! Hopefully it’s sensor ! There is a shift star somewhere too that it pops into to stay in gear ! But I’m not sure !
Inside these control motors are brushes. A lot of you guys issues are most likely the brushes pull it apart the one we just messed with today had no springs behind the brushes forcing them outward to make connection. If no spring behind them toss a spring in there of some sort we used a spring from a lighter for the time being but it worked and now shifts
4:24 - my motor is not responding when I do that. 1998 foreman 450 es Battery is good New control motor, New angle sensor, Both hooked up. Machine turned on I've got a multimeter but do not fully understand how to use it. What is my next inspection step. I cannot figure out how to use the multimeter to check the shift switch out the control and angle wires
Does it have the manual shift lever and will it shift with it ? The shift motor may need new grease it turns to tar n will cause hard shift ! Also do you have a good battery double check these will not shift with a low amp battery even if it reads 12 volts may be weak !
At 4:17 you said “oh gotta put it back into default because it is unhooked” what exactly do you meant by that? I have taken my shifter motor off and I’m wondering if I have to be in default or whatever you were saying to make it work. Thanks
So we accidentally got our 500 rubicon under water now it sounds like a grind when you put it in gear. Also we had extra motor and trans that we knew worked so we just swapped them out and it does exactly the same thing so what could be the issue. We're lost..
I’d check that your wheels are not stuck like brakes full of mud or diff case going out ! Sound like strain on either motor so I’d look at the rest of it ! Had guy bring one while back thought tranny was out nope back brakes locked up real good !
When back hand brake cable sticks the lever itself will flop with play a bit usually because the cable got pulled n didn’t retract to give tension on the lever
Mabey your shift selector or gear selector sensor is bad I don’t think you can shift two gears on one shot so I think it may be closer to wiring and gear sensor !! You say this because it says it on digit display ! Shift manual n check that all gears are there then check the cluster to see if it matches
@@WaldensWorld I’m sorry I worded that poorly it will shift to whatever I want in manual but after about 30 seconds it goes in to automatic and won’t go above 1st gear
@@christopherstevens5603 have you removed the front shift motor n the sensor next to it ! There is a sensor next to it also ! I’d remove both check sensor plug clean the grease off the shift motor n replace it ! Also you do have good battery n good ground
@@WaldensWorld I will try the sensors and yes I do have a good battery and a good ground just replaced both of those about six months ago i’ll try to do it tonight and let you know tomorrow thanks again
My 1999 foreman 450 es wouldn’t shift properly or even make the sound, was stuck in neutral. Let it run for 10 minutes and tried shifting and it was fine. Only plays up when it’s cold
I have one doing that. Won't shift when you first start it. Have to manually shift to N so it will start. It will shift UP but not DOWN. Reached Angle Sensor but that didn't help. Voltage is good.
Here's my story with the 99 450es. I finally found my problem after a couple years trying to deal with it. Pulled gas tank off to route a shift bypass cable because I had had enough! Under the tank there a group of wires grounded with a bolt through an eyelet. My bolt was several threads loose. That's why it would work sometimes and not others. Tightened bolt and wala, it works. I also would note it had some rust on it, so it's worth looking at. Good luck guys!
I just took mine apart and cleaned it and regreased it, shifts great , thanks 🍻

You may need volt meter to check current ! If it don't move at all ! May have bad shift switch !
Put volt meter in DC Put both end in shift motor connection hit shift button check for 12 volts
Gonna give it a try got a used one I’m replacing parts on and this could maybe fix this one issue I have too Thanks
I have an 03 Honda Foreman 500 and it is stuck in 4th. Replaced shift sensor. Didn't fix the problem. ??

Turn it off n wait minute for flashing on cluster to stop . Or did connect battery . It should reset if I remember correctly
Work excellent for me, keep making good videos. Thanks
Good to hear n thank you for the response !
Mine the switch will work go up and won’t go down then shift up and other times it won’t shift up into first think the stwich is bad ?
Your cat& dog really helped your video.stick to the point!!
Hey he’s just making some helpful videos with a few animals don’t need to be mad
I had my shift motor apart. your motor and under body was quite dirty. my inside after dropping the motor was spotless.
That's cool . This whole quad had dirt on it . I guess my buddy rides his . They get dirty . N blow up n pop tires ECT thanks for watching
Except a "GOOD" Mechanic would wash it to avoid dirt getting in
By all means take your stuff to a good mechanic please ! Pay that bill !
What an idiot. Keep doing good videos Walden!

There’s probably something lodged somewhere if they both have the same noise it must not be from the engine itself
When back hand brake cable sticks the lever itself will flop with play a bit usually because the cable got pulled n didn’t retract to give tension on the lever

I have a cat just like that. I call him Fat Boy Shadow Dude
