Golden order greatsword is a victim of its placement, dealing holy damage is already a huge downside due to the amount of things that resist it but what makes it worse is that the endgame has such massive holy resistance that any weapon you use that has it may as well be a toothpick. its only alright because the unique moveset is shared by the knight greatsword and the knight has 2nd highest range while banished has one of the shortest ranges. only bad because it's twin beats it and has it's unique mechanics.
Yeah I absolutely love that weapon. It's actually much stronger than most people think it is because of a misunderstanding with its damage statistics. People see the faith requirements and scaling and assume it's one of the weapons that benefit from a 50/50 spilt in strength and faith stats. But you would be wrong in that assumption also people see the holy damage and shy away because of how badly holy falls off late game. But in truth Ordovis's sword performs much better with a pure strength build with minimal stats in faith(for buffs and other utility). The ar on a strength focused build is significantly higher than a strength faith hybrid. Also a lot of people don't realize that the Ash of War is actually purely physical damage, so it doesn't have to deal with the heavy resistances to holy later game. Personally I think the best way to run Ordovis's Greatsword is to invest heavily into strength with only as much faith as you need. Run the Stonebarb tear because the AoW does insane stance damage fully charged. Then you run Shard of Alexander and Godfreys Icon(it does affect the AoW). Use that stuff and your pretty much set the other talisman slots and physick slot is up to you. But if you use this setup Ordovis's sword is an absolute monster. Also a quick tip for anyone who might try out this build if you stancebreak something like say a dragon your much better off doing a fully charged ash on the head instead of going for the riposte. It will absolutely shred if you use this method. It's a super fun weapon and definitely worth trying out.
Hell yeah, Flamberge! One time I decided to change my stats again, and then thought about building a weapon I had to make it one of the most powerfull weapon in the most fitting way(I was playing as a sorcery spell caster with a decent amount of strength), so I found Flamberge, decided to upgrade it all the way to maximum level, infused it with glintstone whetblade with cold option, and put *Bloodhound step* as it's ash of war, so i had a great melee weapon to deal with my enemies in case my spells didn't prove usefull enough in times of need, which dealt good amount of physical but also and moreso magic damage, build up the most damaging two status ailments that also are capable of breaking hyper armor, which is bleeding and frostbite(which can also slow enemies movements to some degree), and i could easily get away from the danger by using Bloodhound step that allowed me to dodge away from attacks with higher i frames, speed and distance(I mean, it kinda felt bad they nerfed it though). Simply put, it was my masterpiece armament among all of the common non-speacial armaments.
Usually when I start a run, I bolt straight to the church of dragon communion in Caelid, then I just farm banished knights for parry practice, the armor set, and the greatsword. also, because I'm farming the caelid knights instead of the godrick castle knights, I get far more runes
With a perfect quality build (mine) 80 in both strength and dex running quality on Banished Knight's and Knight's greatswords, i found Banished to do more base damage and scaling. The reason why Knight's is better is because it's like the second longest greatsword and can be acquired sooner.
