the Weill Quartet is a forgotten masterpiece in TheSmack77 channel s opinion. equal to Britten s three quartets, Schoenberg no.2, Bartok s and Shostakovich. the Schulhoff also on the same nimbus cd (see the upload cover here) is also a fine largely forgotten great quartet and worthy of the serious quartet fans attention. happy listening x
Wish I had the time to really discover all of the works of the brilliant Kurt Weill. Mostly familiar with his short 'show songs' but he was no slouch composer of larger works.
Progress. Until years 70, only you found records for "Dreigroshenoper", "Mahahonny" , "Seven deadly sins"... Now, you find about all his works. A good thing.
Another magnificent work by Weill, just like his violin concerto and his 2nd symphony.

Before Weill wrote another string quartet (in Bm I think). When he was student.
It's not n1. Before there is quartet in Dm (anavaible)
