Happy Thanksgiving Renea. I am Canadian so we had ours at the beginning of the month. I absolutely love going shopping with my husband. We always go on Thursday when the new flyer comes out. It is sort of like a date day. We go out for lunch and have a tremendous time together. We are retired so I guess I am living in heaven on earth. 💞💞💞💞

Eggs are expensive here in West Virginia. My husband and I are learning to shop at the newly constructed Aldi's near us. And I had always bought 6 dozen eggs at Sam's Club for a good price but they took a huge (over $1.00) jump. So we now buy them at Aldi's where they have been $2.09 since we began shopping there in September. But last week they went up to $2.13 a dozen and are now limited to 6 dozen at a time. I always buy 6 dozen at a time (we use lots of eggs in a month) so I was able to get what I wanted.

OMG!! I live up here in BC, and for a 5lb bag of potatoes we are paying 6.99 / bag!! Outrageous I say!! Glad you guys can get them for a buck a bag. Kinda jealous 'bout that.

I had an electric yogurt maker years ago with 6 jars. It was great.
Now, I can make yogurt in my pressure cooker.

Happy Thanksgiving…..🦃 we stayed home and worked on the side of the house where yellow jackets destroyed our treated wood and it was getting the wall wet in our bathroom…..not fun.
I bought four packages of celery and ran them thru the food processor and then dehydrated them……cuts the down the time a lot and then I make powder for recipes……
Eggs are $4 .25 here and they are not very big……I’m so glad I dehydrated and froze eggs for baking. I did 15 dozen when eggs were $2.25
I cooked our turkey Tues and then took meat off and canned half of it and some broth….$ 59 lb…..I bought the 3 allowed from Krogers….it was so good and moist….I even took the scraps and dehydrated it for grand pup treats….
Today I was sent a tex from a store that I can buy hamburger for $1.99 lb in 5 lb chubs……first come first serve…..more canning.
Do you have a good taco sauce canning recipe. My husband loves Taco Bell hot sauce and they’re $2.75 bottle which is small in size…
Gosh cream cheese is $4 for a 8 oz block…..Mary’s Nest has a video on how to make cream cheese from yogurt in two steps….gonna have to try that….
I’m surprised people don’t ask you to bake for them…..pies are $15 at the Amish market……cookies $6.50 for 1/2 dozen. I’m sure cost of bakery items have gone up for them also. Eggs $6.50 dozen…..
My Dad use to drive to Hamtramck in Detroit and buy homemade donuts and a spice bar cake with cream cheese frosting that was soooo good….I haven’t seen Amy recipes for that…have you?
I’ve been wanting to use up dates so I’m looking for a good date filled cookie like my Mom made…my brother took all her recipes and I never got them. Hers was a pinwheel cookie…..
You said you couldn’t get that family recipe from an aunt because it was a family secret…she’s probably afraid you’ll share it…..to me unless you’re selling them and don’t want copy cats what’s the big deal to share…lol
@Carrie M Here are a couple of very old recipes. One is my Great Grandma and one my Great Aunt. Both recipes are very old since they have both been gone over 40 years.
Matrimony Chews
1.5 cups oatmeal
1.5 cups flour
.5 cup butter
1 tsp. Soda
.5 tsp. Salt
1 cup brown sugar
Date mixture
1 lb. Chopped dates
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
Cook date mixture together and cool.
Work butter into dry ingredients, then spread 1/2 mixture in buttered pan (size ?) Cover with date mixture and then cover with rest of mix. Pat down and bake in moderate oven (350) for 1/2 an hour.
Filled cookies
1 cup sugar
.5 cups butter
.5 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. Vanilla
Pinch of salt
3 cups flour
3 tsp. Baking powder
Filling
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup boiling water
1.5 TBLS flour
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup nutmeat or more if desired
All the instructions say is, roll cookies thin fill with cooled date mixture and bake in moderate oven until brown.
I believe these were for Linzer cookie cutter. You can find a Linzer cookie cutter on Amazon. They are a beautiful cookie. My dad, 82 also remembers the date filling being used in small tarts.

Glad to see I’m not the only one grabbing bit of first aid, each trip.
Those mixes are awesome for sandwiches and wraps too(with hummus as the spread). I’d use them for the kids’ lunches. I’d even send them in with a salad, and it was so good for the school day. I always did my best to make sure lunch and snacks were as solid as possible.
Oh! I’ve been meaning to ask, where did you get your prep table?

Nice haul Renae. Love spaghetti squash but husband doesn't care for it! Nice size rutabaga! I can rarely find them in the stores anymore and I love them in my soups!
Do you have Fresh Thyme or Sprouts? I can always find them there. An old fashioned vegetable that should make a comeback. Low in carbs. I know people swap out radishes for potatoes but I think rutabagas are a better choice. They are good.
@@practicallyheidi8505 nope to either of those stores! I can sometimes find rutabaga at the Mennonite store but not always there either! I remember growing up it was like a staple and all the stores had them!

Would it work as a freezer meal with the egg plant? It is just me now and I have to make up freezer meals, than I have no wast and do not have to eat the same thing all the time 🙂. God bless
Renee do you have the Flashfood app on your cell phone? This app will notify you when grocery products are going to expire & use by dates are nearing. Even overstock that is being reduced.. Meijer notifies you if meats produce eggs dairy & even dry goods too are nearing their use by dates. my Daughter saves so much money with this app. She bought on 11/22/22 54 tubes regular size of crest toothpaste for 24 cents a tube. (She donated them to our food pantry for stocking stuffers for children) the reason they was so cheap not the due date it was overstock. How crazy!!!

Absolutely, it is buldging at the seams and the root cellar too. We are ready darn near anything...LOl. But fkeep in mind I do feed lots of family and friends. No one goes hungry near me. Lol

Nope they do wonderful in baking Most recipes call for large eggs. Sometimes if I get a double yolk egg I will count it as 2.

I do save every plastic bag I can. I use them for my market stand in the summer. In the video I was putting them in the sink and John took them into the pantry and put them in a bin I keep them in.

If you like the look of that teapot, you can find one similar. The brand is Lindy's. It is what my Amish store sells. Stainless steel, holds a large amount of water. They do have them on Amazon. They are $55. If you have an Amish store around they would be cheaper.
I loved this video!! I wish we had a Mejir here in Missouri. Do you have a Sam's or a Costco by you? They have huge containers of vitamins and personal items a little cheaper. I can't wait to see your more healthy videos. What does 🍆 taste like? I've always wanted to taste them but it seemed like it would be mushy. You guys remind me of my husband and I. We're affectionate and always say Love you to each other.
Yes eggplant is mushy but it is delicious in eggplant parm. I also like it cut real thin and fried crisp.
