I'm coaching 5th grade boys and I think its all about teaching when to call for the ball. Maybe a teammate will make a good pass he otherwise wouldn't have seen coming off a curl. Never let them follow their pass or run to the ball then call for it. I focus on good communication "we see the floor as a team and must call it out to our teammates."

Terrible coach, you don't need to square up then take the shot, as long as you can get your dominant leg torwards the basket in the air you're good, go watch Kobe mj curry Ray Allen do the exact same thing
its important to learn the basics still,not every kid is going to be a kobe,jordan, curry,etc those guys im sure learn this way as well..atleast until they master their shooting.

+Paul Soule it isn't a good habit, good on defense, technically it's not awful if you are completely wide open on a break

ripppking I was shooting fadeaway jump shots in junior high. It was never taught to me just something I learned......if that makes sense.
this is a beginners tip, not pro. these guys are not pro athletes and should still work on perfecting there form and shot with consistency
