This a great video. But what are they doin? Do they know what they are doin. It irritates me seeing people trained by someone who says "put it here 30s then rinse then this tank 45s.." Explain why and the chemical reaction thats happening.

A carbon treatment will make the plating dull if you have added excess of brightener .. if you want a matte finish ...check the pH of the solution and adjust the pH to as low as 3.8 with help of sulfuric acid addition gradually.... It will give you a matte finish. Increase the additive levels more and not the brightener level
