Was not expecting a Thornhill reaction from here but God am I happy to see it
My exact thoughts, lol
Was actually thinking the same thing
Same! This song just...wow.
Gotta love Australian music in this genre, man. So many top tier bands from down under
Not a reaction when he has listened to it prior.
The dark pool is far and above my favorite album of 2019. The entire thing is a journey and one I still listen to on repeat.
That Album is Amazing!!!! Holy shit!!!!
Truth
I can’t believe it’s from 2019. I still think of it as being new. But then again, I remember cutting grass listening to it last spring and summer. Damn. Need more!
Been on repeat really heavily the last couple days for me
Holy crap I cannot believe you reacted to Thornhill. They're such a talented and underrated band. Cheers to this one!
Man idk what they're feeding them in Australia but jeez, their metalcore scene is irrefutably unmatched across the world
So happy to see Thornhill here. The dark pool is one of my absolute favourite albums possibly ever. They are such talented musicians, in their technicality but also the journey their music takes you on. Welcome to any first time listeners you're in for a treat.
The Dark Pool is probably in my top 3 favorite albums of all time. Where We Go When We Die is such an amazing album closer. The ending to this song is such a perfect way to end the album, such a powerful ending
4D by Northlane possibly in the future?
Talking Heads by Northlane
I second 4D
Literally ANYTHING from the Alien album!
Song is amazing. Clockwork is amazing too.
Hell yes
"Well what's the point of life,
if we can't be together?"
Such a simple line, but an ocean's worth of depth. Broadsided me when I first heard it on top of that longing chord progression.
Personally I find "I need you here with me, I need you to remember" hits home so much harder
Now I’m not saying you should do Sleep Token - Blood Sport (from the room below), but you should definitely do exactly that.
I second this
I third this?
Fourth this
I plead the fifth this
can't slap the upvote button any harder EDIT: he couldn't go wrong with Sleep Token - Alkaline either
The Plot In You - Feel Nothing
Go on that journey, David!
Ahh I haven’t thought about suggesting that. Great idea!
Yes!! I suggested the Plot In You (DISPOSABLE FIX) in another video too. The band just adds so many cool nuances in this album; I love it
Yes!! And "Enemy" from them too
The best release of 2020 for me.
2019*
@@emmastheme1631 you are right, but I discovered it in that year :P
Best record I've heard in ages and it's 2024 lol
God damn I cannot recommend Thornhill, and this song specifically, enough to everyone. The last minute of the song is one of the most beautiful compositions I've ever heard, and the first time I listened to the song I couldn't help but tear up by the end.
Yes!! I felt exactly the same about the last part when I first heard it. Made me want to cry and that is so powerful.
Absolutely one of my most favourite metalcore compositions of all time. It's so full and emotional. Just a wall of beautiful music that makes me tear up
The Dark Pool is easily one of my favorite albums of the last few years. Every song on it is incredible in its own way, especially Views from the Sun and Coven
Coven is incredible
"Music is a journey" - welcome to Thornhill David ;)
This song gives me existential dread and goosebumps whenever I hear it
Jacob sang in the Australian boys choir as a kid. That’s where he gets those beautiful clean vocals from.❤️
My favorite part from the somg is "I'll make you believe but I don't think I want to" and the song sounds even better when you play it on the Piano from my favorite band Thornhill ...
I'd really love to see a reaction to ERRA, preferably "Skyline" or "Divisionary". My absolute favourite band at the moment. Thank you for all the great reactions!
Yes!!
Seconding ERRA!
Divisionary is a great shout
Yessir yessir
YES Erra my god, what a band , especially the new album, has some insane songs, cover this !
The entire album is a masterpiece. It’s such a journey, and it feels like you evolve as a Human being
I’m so glad you finally put Thornhill on here David.
Lily and The Moon David!!
I've seen these guys from when they were still a local band and to see where they are now is amazing. Seen them 7 times. Phenomenal live. G'day from Australia!
Hey David. The "Angel Of Death" is actually another character from "Nurture" also by Thorhill
That piano playing underneath the song as you were listening really added to an already perfect song. Glad you loved this song.
big reason why i always come back to this reaction 😂 he’s so good freestyling the piano , like he can play to anything at any time , truly jealous of his skills lmaoo
I love thornhill, best reaction I've seen!
This guy has such a calming voice to listen to.
Imagine finding out this is what your music teacher does in their spare time. This would be the coolest thing ever. My music lessons at school just consisted of playing Alice Deejay every lesson on a keyboard. I could’ve done with lessons like this
Did not expect you to react to this band! They are SO good. You have to check out the new Make Them Suffer song called "Contraband" ft. Courtney from Spiritbox
When you play your rendition of bands that I listen to I really wish you wouldn’t stop. It’s beautiful the way you convey and transfer the music into piano notes. 🕊
Absolutely love Thornhill and so happy you reacted to their song. Just love seeing people experience what i felt the first time i heard this song!
Btw just wanted to add that the song has an intro on the album as well, not the same one tho. And if anybody understands that music is a journey its thornhill
Imagine complaining about a reaction/education channel interrupting content. He puts the original link the description, if you wanna watch the original thing, go watch it. Some people are just helpless or ungrateful OR BOTH.
Keep it up man. Great content. Love your delivery. Love your input. Love your wisdom.
Hey my brother, I don't see the comment you're talking about but I love you for coming to my defense! I will say that snarky or negative comments really don't bother me. I'm grateful that anyone watches my channel and understand that my style is not for everyone. I also understand that some people have a need to put negative energy into the world and will do that in the comments sometimes. Have an amazing weekend and I thank you dude!
Oh, you're saying that cause of what I said at the beginning of the video. I get it, I haven't watched this one in a while, we filmed it a while ago.
Wow finally you found this song, my favorite last year ..
I finally gave this album a listen about a week ago and immediately fell in love. Doesn't happen all that often. I absolutely need to see Thornhill live - they're from my partner's hometown and when the pandemic finally lets us cross international borders, I'll be on the lookout for a show.
Anyway, something from Northlane please! Others have asked for 4D and Talking Heads, but I'll throw Bloodline into the mix too.
Man Thornhill was recommended to me by a friend and quickly became one of my all time favorites. These kids are so incredibly talented and the best part is that they actually started releasing very good music when they were literally children. The EP 13 and the song Tunnel Vision to this day is one of the most powerful things I’ve heard from them and to my knowledge no one has reacted to it on UA-cam. Reptile is such an awesome and FUN song by them that I know will find it’s way into your reviews in the future and I’m already pumped for it.
Thanks for the content!
The piano work is beautiful
You say you feel privileged to be on this journey, but we are privileged to be on it with you, David. You're such a good dude and we all appreciate your videos and insight as always! Keep it up my man. Much love!
mwa!
Found you from a thornhill search.Glad i did that :) Hi from Turkey
Stoked for some Thornhill love.
I will comment under each of your video until you reacted to Spiritbox - The Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound ))))
I, too, will comment this under every video until he reacts to that
HAHAHA. My guy looked at the camera dead ass serious and goes
“Hohohoa I like this so much guys”
This song always really did something for me, not just lyrically but musically. But not being a musician myself it's hard for me to fully understand what it is about the music that's really hitting home, so this is a really nice insight into a musicians observation of a song that become one of my favourite songs at the moment, I have it on repeat and it's nice to know other feel the same. I'll be subscribing for sure.
Finally, i've requested this since a long time. Thanks sir 😁
My new favourite band right now!!
I need to at least mention that they released an acapella version of this album as well! It’s incredible and has a pretty haunting sound.
that last break at the end literally brings me to tears. especially knowing the back story of the masked character in that last scene
Love love love how you improvise with the piano, gave me goose bumps when you were just playing the melody on the keyboard.
Something that really hit me while watching/listening to this video for the first time is that I LOVE the shots of the band and how the camera captures the blue sky. Something about that shot and then the soaring opening vocals and his style of singing. And then contrasted with just before the breakdown where his voice sounds like it’s kinda underwater and there is rain/water on their faces to match thay
i made a comment a week or two again requesting this song specifically, didnt actually expect it!! love this
Jacobs voice gives me chills ♡ i have experience with vocals myself as i was a chamber singer in highschool so i completely understand how much practice and effort it takes to develop such a diverse vocal registry.
What you said for the very first pause tells me just how you truly understand music. It’s never about how the music is produced; has nothing to do with genre. All of the boxes we put things in ultimately comes down to what you said beautifully.
love them. such a beautiful journey, and I love the fact that you joined our crew! this kind of music is so progressive and unique, share it every time you can
Just found this channel when looking up the music video again.
Can I say, I think my favorite thing here was when you played the piano along with the song? It was crazy how quickly you adapted to the sound and added a new element that fit in. That was really cool!
Also, huge fan of your perspective and input. Definitely watching more of your stuff.
Sleep Token is a must.
Now or Later.
Any song.
Just.
Do it.
When you feel like it.
It's amazing
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
Yea, this song hits hard.
Very hard.
Thanks so much for the reaction! I really believed you'd enjoy them, so glad you did! This album is an incredible journey for a listen through
I really like listening to your professional opinion on music! Thornhill are a very underrated band. I saw them live and they’re even more amazing live. The vocals are perfect live
They changed their sound with their new album. Casanova is a good example if you were interested :)
THANKS! I suggested this one a while ago and so happy to see the reaction finally!
wow so happy to see thornhill getting some recognition. love your channel.
Longing... That is it! I've loved Thornhill for years and that is such a good word to describe that feeling. Every time that last section hits.. Maybe where its quiet and then boom.. Goosebumps everytime.
Thank you for this review. I did enjoy. Peace
These guys are a gift that keeps on giving and promises to keep keep on giving. Young, Raw, totally inspired and I can't wait to hear their next stuff. I've seen a lot of crazy metal but their song Coven is truly next level.
I am so happy you just did this band and song.
love this band!! and your videos!!
Having a hard time getting into these Aussies, but thanks for featuring them here!
Your reactions are really worth to watch. Being a music teacher gives you the right weapons to feel every song. Love your channel, sir!
Ty dude!
You might want to listen to Red Summer of the same album. That song's ending is cathartic on a completely different level. Thornhill is something really special.
He is gonna love the new thornhill album tbh
Love love love that you got to check this one out. I'm here once again to request Language by The Contortionist
Make Them Suffer just released a new song called "Contraband", featuring Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox
You should definitely check that out, another incredible Aussie band :)
Great video! Love these guys!
This made my day seeing you react to this song. I’ve seen a lot of comments talking about the beauty of this bands songwriting and the journey it takes you on. 2 years after its release I still listen to this album start to finish damn near every day. I give them credit for really being the first band that made me appreciate the beauty and complexity of the music in this genre. The first time I heard this song I actually teared up towards the end of it, which had never happened to me from a song before. Easily the most listened to album of all time for me. I really think you’d like their song “The Haze” which is also on the album “The Dark Pool”.
NICE NAME RHETT
This song is a JOURNEY. LOVE IT!
I've been waiting for this.
Great video! That was my first time hearing this band and I am now a fan
Periphery - Garden in the Bones please!! :) love Thornhill!
An amazing band and song, the whole album is awesome! More please!
Oh heck yes!!! Amazing
Yes! I was one of those insistent people.. Thornhill is such an amazing band...
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this band
Really made my day seeing this before bed, the album this track is from is an amazing experience. The vocals give a really amazing ambience and air of longing to each track.
There are instrumental and vocal only versions of the album on UA-cam and they really show the care and attention they put into every second of this album. I'd really recommend checking it out if you have the time, even if it's not all reactions. Thanks for giving so many smaller bands like this a shot!
man I'd love to this mans reaction to their new album because god damn does it sound different but also the same
Wow - I'm SO happy you reacted to this. Please do more Thornhill! Vocalist really reminds me of Radiohead.
I love Thornhill. Hope there’s many more journeys from them soon.
YOU REACTED TO THORNY AND I MISSED IT OH MY GODDD
I was asking for it few months ago!
Absolutely next-level band. Dark Pool was my AOTY 2019. My favorite thing about this track is there's no set pattern (verse/chorus/verse). Brilliant songwriting.
Alsi it's been two years and still no Silent Planet or August Burns Red. You'd love SP for sure. They're so supremely talented.
You've got a great personality man! Your ears gotta be burning for more!
Mate I love them so much! Top of my Spotify wrapped along with Nick Thurl Drag Me Down. You should do a reaction to that as well
Yes! thanks for doing this one. this band rules, i might have requested this song once or twice myself :D love the channel thanks doods
You would really love the story portrayed in Coven by Thornhill. IMO their best song by far and such a cool atmosphere to it.
Their EP Butterfly is one of my favorites. Great reaction. More Thornhill please.
If you really enjoyed this vocalist David, just today he just released a new song with his new band "Cherry" today. Fantastic and talented young artists these guys, im so happy to see a band that's local that I got to see early on in their hopefully long careers on this channel!
I'd love to see you listen to some Northlane, or In hearts wake, they're some other fantastic Australian metalcore bands
Definitely one of the best albums to come out last year 👍🏼
I love thornhill
Ive been waiting for someone to do thornhill. Its a great song
I've been longing for this, much love you guys, keep it up ❤
There's a young band from Southampton, UK, that I'm sure you'd love: Creeper. They make a very special blend of music somewhere between Punk Rock, Emo like My Chemical Romance, and a dramatic, even Vaudeville delivery and aesthetic. Fantastic live band, too. They just released their new single "Midnight", which perfectly shows off their musicality and capabilities of their two vocalists Will and Hannah. Piano forward verse, huge chorus, memorable lyrics. I've been a fan since the first EP and it's about time they finally get the recognition they deserve.
MORE THORNHILL PLEASE
My request - Lily and The Moon 😭❤️
Was here to see system of a down from COTS but as soon as I saw Thornhill I freaked. Please do a album series on these guys you won’t regret it. So many instrumental tracks that lead up to their songs and you will go nuts. Keep you the content man
