Hi Gemma! Just a little reminder to make sure the flue is open on the chimney before lighting the fire. We made that mistake with the first time using our fireplace and ended up with a smoke filled room also! 😊

I’m originally from Belfast , so I grew up with the snowy Christmases. I miss it a lot . So thanks for giving me ,that white Christmas feeling again. Tilly and teddy are so sweet. I miss snowy Christmases too. I was fortunate enough to have my first snowy Christmas when I was younger as we'd been living in Australia most of my life. I am originally from Northern Ireland and live in Brisbane

You truly cheer me up trying to deal of the loss of my mum 8 weeks later my 19 year old son died in his sleep hart attack that was few years ago still hurts so badly then my husband Jim passed with a blood clot just myself daughter in my house now Christmas bring out a lot of emotions but trying to make it good for my 20 year old daughter I watch all your videos you put a smile on my face cheer me up and inspire me to get up and do things you sometimes remind me of maself and my husband like going to the beach and he was great at diy Jamie is deffo a lovely guy your a well matched couple so thanks for cheering me up xxx

Hi we have a log burner and u may need the chimney swept and cleaned. As they do need this every year to be safe. You should have paperwork when the last one was done. Love the bit with U and ur mum sorting the tree out x

If you use wet or untreated wood it smokes more. Try one of those fir logs, they work well. Also smoke might come back down if it was really windy.

Yes definitely get your stove checked, that is not supposed to happen, also make sure when you light it there is a draught to draw the flames up the chimney, there should be vents to slide, that will do this, and burning candles also helps remove the smell, to clean the glass, on the door, get a damp paper towel, and dip it in the ashes, it gets the black off the glass ☺️ loved seeing you and your mum, glad you had a nice time in Norwich, Tilly and Teddy are so gorgeous.

I can relate to Fraser and the struggle that ensued. Our real tree was all decorated when it fell and broke some antique ornaments. So I chucked it and set up our 4.5 Ft faux tree in the living room instead. 😂

your fire need to draw, when you light it open the window in the room until the flames appear and there is no smoke. Make sure all the baffles are open on the wood burner. If it does still smoke once you shut the window the flue is not working properly. It does take a few uses to settle in the black of the outside it does smell the first couple of times. Welcome to wood burner life, lovely when the wind is perfect and the wood is dry, adding duck egg coals is great on top of the wood once it is hot is great to keep it hot. They are the dustiest things on planet earth. I've had open fires and wood burners for years and love the cosy warmth but the up-keep is quite time consuming. Hope this helps, loving the seasonal content. xx

Hey Gemma - our log burner used to do that, getting a H shaped chimney topper really helped, it stops the wind coming down and blowing big gushes of smoke through the house! Might be worth trying :)
