Actually I think that line is the worst thing about the song, since it feeds into the whole "fake news" conspiracy theory way of thinking. Not watching the news is a slippery slope that leads you down to becoming one of the people that vote for Trump / UKIP / Brexit and in doing that make the world a darker and unsafer place for all of us.
he doesn't say "stop informing yourself", he says "stop WATCHING the news", which means stop allowing TV brainwash you - and I can reassure you this is very valid especially in countries like US or Italy, where I am from.

Caught it this morning on Radio 6 and it's bloody good! It's not what I expected, but after a couple listens I truly understand its genius. Some really interesting lyrics as well, as one might expect from Moz :)

I think some of the lyrics are hilarious in that classic Moz way, as they were probably intended to be, and I think it's way better than some songs on World Peace. However, I think the lyrics are best when read or listened to as a whole and relating everything to the context, as opposed to extracting specific couplets and analyzing them... But yes, I do believe there is a certain element of parody or satire within the song. In fact, I think it would've fit perfectly on "You are the Quarry". :)

You're still as much - or more relevant -now than you were at the very beginning. People that don't get you...I just felt sorry for them. I'm totally glad you exist. What a great first single release for an album I'm really looking forward to.

I love songs that I can relate to, and I heard this after hitting the snooze button too much, waking up late for work so decided to pull a sicky. Put Radio 6 on while in bed and this was playing. Smiled for the entire song with the phrase 'art imitates life' going through my head:) Love it!
