Thanks for watching guys! What do you think of Datsun?
Hi David! Love the videos!
LEGENDARY!!!
ThatDudeinBlue Looks and sounds great, I've been looking for a Datsun Z for many years. Here is Canada they either want big money for them or if you find one for a descent price it's usually rusted so bad you can puncture right through the frame with a screwdriver.
ThatDudeinBlue Please do a mini truck in the future!
ThatDudeinBlue it's such a gorgeous car. I have a 1972 240Z that's a work in progress, but even just the few times I've driven it, I knew it was something else. The sound, the smell, the soul of that car is unlike anything else out there. Despite the rust issues, those first gen Z cars are works of art. Also, side note, thanks for talking to me and my friends a little bit and C&O last weekend, it was awesome meeting you.
Datsun's are awesome. Plain and simple. Such a classic tuner I love the way they look, sound, all that stuff
Yes. I had one when I was in high school. I have owned them all except for a 240z and 350z. I have a 1975 280zt and a 370z Nismo at the moment.
David thank you for not trashing your channel by only making vlogs. Thank you for doing reviews still.
Never seen a Datsun I didn't absolutely love. SO jealous.
This makes me even more excited to keep working on my 280z, my dad and I have been doing so much rust repair. When it's all back together it will be such a blast to drive.
David, thanks for reviewing such a cool car. I'm glad people are still into these cars.
I had a 1975 280Z from 2002 to 2005. It had similar wheels, suspension upgrades and was a metal flake brown. I had CRX seats and the interior was in great shape. Man, you are making me miss that car. If I didn't live in the East coast rust belt I would get another one. My biggest regret is not buying a clean 240z with a chevy 305 swap about eight years ago. I had a other Z cars, but those first gen body styles are the best. Now I have a Honda S2000 but if i moved out west I think I'd want an old Z like that again with a rebello racing motor!
I had a 1971 Datsun 240Z with a Rebello racing motor! It was so fast with 230 horses at the rear wheels!!! It got stolen twice in 2 years and finally lost it.
Great video, we love your reviews on classic cars! Glad to see we aren't the only ones that appreciate them
3 months ago I finally picked up a 72' 240z project, I'm currently fixing all the rust and giving it a lot of love. I can't wait to drive it in the summer !
Glad you finally got to drive one of the best sports car ever build . I had a 74 Datsun 260Z (same color, the green part) back in the early 80's when I was stationed out in northern California . I really miss that car. I always said that it was the right car, at the right time, in the right place. Koni shocks, Mullholland springs, FR 60/14 BF Goodrich tires on US slotted mags and a Pacesetter exhaust system. I used to get up early on Sunday mornings just so I could take that car up around Lake Barryessa so I could catch as little traffic as possible. My first four wheel drift was in that car. :)
the datsun z series cars are actually what got me into cars and the automotive culture, and now yesterday i bought my very first project car, a 90 honda crx. im so happy!
David is finally back. This is the David I subscribed to not worried about anything but driving and enjoying the sweet car he's given. thumbs up x10 dude
David you're geniunly impressed after a long time! Hahaha your smile in the beginning says it all! Loved the episode!
Ive been looking for one of these for so long... Gorgeous car. Toss an RB in there? Mmm nom nom :)
Kalvin Malli haha my boi kalvin knew youd see you in the comments. ugh i love me a clean z skurt skurt peace
nah this is much before the RB's time, i think it's just an older 2.6L i-6
Oh I know, I'm saying I would swap one in :DD
Thanks man!!! :D
Burgundy 280z 2018 calling it!!
I love analog cars, it's not always about the quantitative numbers. Sometimes the qualitative experience you get is enough.
So happy to come home and see this! I was just at the shops and i saw a sweet, clean 260z so the timing is perfect
It may not get the love the 240 gets but it's such a cool car! Good work dude
It's literally the same car... minus a few minor stylistic changes.
thedownshiftchannel i think the 260 is even more rare
I've owned my Datsun 260Z 2-Seater for 32 years. I would never swap her for ANYTHING.........
I just have to say this was one of your most awesome reviews in a while need more jdm goodness like this (y) mad respect
Absolutely love the green! I wish these cars got the amount of attention they deserve.
This is one of my top 3 favourite cars. I hope I own one in my lifetime. Great video by the way! Remind me of your older ones from when you started the channel!! Don't lose your vision, your uniqueness.
Awesome car, a neighbor has one and I can always tell it's him by the sound... no visual needed! Thanks for sharing this review with us man.
I used to have two! A 280 then I swapped the engine into a 260 and I converted it to SU carbs. As I was watching I kept getting chills down my spine from that raw sound. I had gotten a 350z after that but I always said that even though it may be faster it doesn't give u the same feeling. A trip to the market felt like a huge journey and as if u went 150 mph when in reality it was only 40 mph. And also the car has huge personality. She sometimes get angry but when it's working perfectly you are that much more grateful. This video made me miss my cars man. Even the smell of a Datsun is different.
3:26 couldn't agree more. Rust is the main issue we're running into with the channels 240z. Living in the Midwest with our snow, rust just comes with the package. We've had to change the whole floor board and even the rocker panels because everything was rusted out. But man the Datsuns are a gems.
I own a Datsun 260z it is amazing when I got it was sitting for 12 years have been working on it with my son awesome time
Can you review the Camry at 1:11 ?
The s30z has been a dream dream of mine ever since I drove one in Grand Turismo 4, I was 8 at the time, now turning 21. Tomorrow I'll be looking at an s13 hatch, which I feel is a spiritual successor to the 240z, and I'm super excited.
I helped my mom buy a '77 280z in good mostly original condition last year as her "fun" car as a retirement gift to herself. Initially, she had been considering old VW bugs, but I suggested she look at these old Datsuns due to their sportier nature. And we are both so glad she chose to pick up the Z! It is a gorgeous car and fun to zip around in. My mom tells me all the time about the attention she gets from people of all ages (mostly men) who give her thumbs up at stoplights, holler "nice Z!" as she drives buy, or stop to talk about the car when she's filling up the tank. It's really an amazing thing and I'm glad my mom loves it. She deserves it! Now, if I can just get her to consider an engine swap! ;)
Awesome! Excited for my Datsun restoration to be finished !!
i had no clue there was a 260z. i thought there was only a 240 and 280.
Next Level Scrub same... learn something new everyday I guess
Gold Paris yup
Gold Paris the 260 was only sold for one year in the US. the Car Stuff podcast has a great one on the s30 history
Datsun 120y and 180b yo
Next Level Scrub 240z,260z,280z,300z,350z,370z
On the list of one of my top favorite classic Japanese Cars.
Thanks for the review and the 240, 260, 280 displacement explanation. Did not know.
I literally saw a busted up 260Z yesterday. The back bumper was missing and the gear stick was replaced with a green skull! But when they drove away I couldn't help but smile when I heard the noise it made!
This is my favorite video you've ever made! I love it! Zociety for life!
been waiting for this day to come. the S30z is my dream car
I love them so happy you did a review on one
I've been waiting for this video for so long
My aunt has a modified 71 240z. One of the funnest cars ive ever driven. I plan on buying it off her once I graduate from college.
Great video! I owned one my senior year in high school. Loved that car! So much fun to drive. Wish I had kept it. But, the rust problems ...ugh
Absolutely Loved this Datsun! Nice to know you where around the SoCal area. Thanks for the vids.
The Datsun 260Z was in a horror story I read as a kid. I feel in love with them. They have always been my favourite car.
What horror story was that ?? This is my car btw lol 🤝
My first car was a 1974 Datsun 260z. I got pulled over all of the time. It was impossible to find parts for back in the 1980's. But, it was a ton of fun to drive.
honestly one of my top 3 favourite card your ever reviewed
My Sr 510 next!
MotionAutoTv Yo T, Finish your Supra, Then let David review it.
MotionAutoTv Agreed!!
My first car 1982.A present from my Father. Fantastic car 👍
My dad has a 280ZX (s130), and it's such a blast to drive, even though it's a bit heavier and bigger, it's still such an awesome experience, and the L28 straight 6 just sounds amazing. It also has a tach that just bounces around, but mostly after 4K!
I love the z cars so much whether it's the classic look of the 280zx or the turning of the times z32 and I'm so happy I was able to pick up a z31 last weekend.
I saw 280s this my first time seeing the 260 today and I fell in love with the car that quickly
Yes!! Finally a Datsun! One day my 280z will be done (been saying that for two years since I bought it haha).
You're very right these cars are very fun especially in corners. And the L series inline 6s are awesome that's why I'm keeping mine.
I owned one, 1972 240z. Needed a lot of work, bought it as a project. It was all stock, cornered like a race car with the independent suspension all around, and the inline 6 went awesome. Sad I sold it, but that happens
You ever believed in love at first sight? I do. Late 2017 if I remember, I was in the Bay Area “Cali”, and my dad’s friend has a 260z with a 240z front end, & a r32 rb26dett in it. He said it’s on “stock” power. But stock power in a RB is pretty fast for a Datsun. And when I first sat in it, just the feeling is just amazing. The feeling you get when pushing down on the throttle 😍, just something else. And I mean if you see in my pfp, it’s me next to the Z.
Dude, that is a beautiful ride! Im jealous that you rode in that! Get one man! And another awesome video by the way.
My first car. It was my 17th birthday present. Loved that car!
these are one of my all time favorite cars. the body lines are insane. one day I need to get one and widebody it.
David is out here driving one of my dream cars! That's sick.
I love the S30 so much. My uncle had a '74 260z when I was a kid, and it really got me into Z-cars. I've now owned 4.
Absolutely love the S30 platform. Such a beautiful car.
Currently running a 89 240 with a sbf setup and brother has a 71 240z running a sbc setup gotta love the old nissans/datsuns!!!!
I have one, and when you talked about the dancing needle, I just laughed out loud. Thats the exact *FEATURE* i have on my car. She is just too excited.
I saw that at a car meet in Temecula it looks awesome in its current form
your videos make my day man, god bless you
Finally been waiting for a review on this car dream car
Great car. It reminds me of my 280z 1975. I own one back in 1995 and I use to take to the race track (battle of the imports) in Palmdale
I've actually got a 1977 280Z, I'd love for you to come review it! I'm constantly improving it, triple weber carburetors, big brake kit, ported head and big cam, the works! It's an amazing car and despite how hard I drive it it never breaks down!
oh shiiit...i just gave me nostalgic trip to memorylane. you can feel the roar powet through the phone screen and speakers.
My favorite JDM car EVER! Need one so much!
The 260Z is/was an awesome car, all engine under the bonnet and tuned right, went like no tomorrow! I'm a WRX fan but the fastest I've ever been was with my mate driving his 260Z .
miss mine sooo much. been looking for another one ever since.
DUDE! Great Video! I love seeing these old rides more than the modern stuff! Just me! :) Looks like you had a blast tho.
I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR A S30 Z VIDEO!!!
i can't wait to buy one this year. Damn i love the look's style on the 240z.
My buddy has a 71 240z turbo that has been garaged for years. The turbo is 30 years old. When we get the wiring finished you can review it its one of the cleanest datsuns ive ever seen and his dad just gave it to him
My mom used to own a 260z, hard cars to find but they are very beautiful.
YES DAVID!!! FINALLY A DATSUN!
"You can get them for dirt cheap" ... What?????? Ni##a where???
northwest US has Hundreds of these for dirt cheap. East coast is basically impossible to find a clean one for cheap
Vortec00 212/218 5k is a lot for that car. For 5k I can hustle my way into an s2k or even a 350z if I'm lucky. Hell I bought an e36 for less than that.
***** I live in the east coast so yeah.
s2k for 5k????? wtf man thats cheap as hell
Sparkle Dust for a beat one
The value of my 71 240z thanks you for this video.
same
Back in 1987, I ran my 260z from St Louis to Martin, Tn (300miles) in 3 hrs and 15 min and stopped, 4 times along the way. It would cruise smoothly at 90mph and felt like 55 mph, but you have to keep wax on it, because they really attract rust.
love the styling of theses cars, 240,260,280
I'm buying a 260z on Tuesday. SO HYPE
love the sound
Really enjoyed that review. Not easy getting classic's. Make's me want a carby again.
I love Z reviews! Thanks for making it.
I love the 260z's! It would be so awesome to own one someday.
Great review David. I love the Datsun Z cars. Awesome cars.
MORE DATSUNS!!!
And yes I've seen a 260z. Know someone that raced one back in the day.
I've had a 260 & a pair of 240s. Each has the Datsun roar.I like the 240Z s best less restrictions.
I actually own a 260Z. A 2+2 though, not a coupe. I can't wait to get it done! I found out I need at least $10k just for parts.. and I don't have a job. So it'll take a while. I'm not sure I want to swap the engine, like you said nothing beats that classic L6-engine sound. I love it. In Norway(where I live) these Z's are quite rare, which means almost everyone stares when I drive by and a lot of older people wants to share their "dream" and saying that this car was their ultimate dream car when they were young. It's starting to become a valuable collectors car, the prices are increasing. I didn't get mine dirt cheap but then again it's in almost mint condition. Just need to replace a few parts and get a paintjob(a few scratches here and there but almost no rust and no blemishes)
I've always wanted one of those.
Damn the sound is so nice on this one. Now I see what car I need to get for a project.
that car is so pretty it gets me exited for when my 280z is finished :)
Cool video!
2 days ago I got my 260Z currently stripping it down to fix all the rust. To my surprise it is still with original floor pans, and get this, they are not rotted away, they got surface rust but that is about it. Oh and theses S30 Datsuns are getting very expensive in Europe, even a project car with rotted floor pans can be sold at about 6500 euros..
Love all of the old school Z cars. The older the better, body designs are classic!
I love Datsun, as you can probably tell from my profile picture, its my very own 1977 datsun 620. The mini truck from Datsun, though not as powerful as a straight 6, I can still have fun with my little 4 cylinder. My plans are reaching high, for the money I have now, but I plan on a wide body, full frame upgrade, and rb20 swapping it. make it a sleeper of sorts.
Great review! I can't wait to have my 240z back on the road.
I've been keeping up with you build and it looks amazing! Keep it up! Can't wait to see it when it complete
I have also been following your build. Looks awesome. Can't wait to see it drive. I know how you feel about driving your own Z. I have had my 77 Z for a year now and never heard it start. I have been slowly building my garage work space before i start on the car
I fucking love the old z cars. when I was still working as a mechanic, I had a 260 come in. unfortunately like you said, the entire frame was rusted so bad that I couldn't lift it on a standard 2 post lift without risking it breaking in half, had to put it on a 4 post drive on rack. Needless to say we couldn't do anything to it for liability reasons. that and he wanted his starter changed and it had MASSIVE oil leak issues, but even though it was pretty much dead and rusted out, it looked sexy as fuck.
I like that in where I live in washington state I don't have to pass emissions. Straight pipe!!!! My 3.0 liter 280z with performance cam just screams!
First time seeing one and i just fell in love!
Damn I love the old z cars. Dad owned a 240z, and later, my grandfather's 280zx. It got passed down to my brother, who in turn, sold it for dirt cheap.
My first car. As a car enthusiast growing up I never could've dreamed for a better one.
Datsun Z and the 300zx FTW
BrockingDaily Z31 ftw
nah z32
Yeah if you dont want to drive it since its always broken ..
Not true, with proper car it's great. My Z32 is running 307k+ miles on the original motor running great for a 92
MrSpartan117fan ROASTED
love the I've had 75 2+2 76 AND 78 THEY ARE MY FAVORITE CAR I CAN'T WAIT FIND ANOTHER ONE
