Lived in Hongkou for 9 years and that was a walk around my neighborhood. Such good memories. We fondly call the dinosaur hearts a jellybean spaceship! Best part about that area is all the lovely spaces along the river. Next time keep going North such a cool area and you can catch Zotter Chocolate factory while there.

That was a very interesting bike trip. I never knew until now that Hongkou has so much to offer to visitors. I cant wait to visit Shanghai again and explore that district.

Zhapu road used to be famous 美食街. The other one is 黄河路. I grew up there. This time I also took lots of video clips. Lazy to edit them.

I was in Shanghai during the summer and coming back for 3 months in October to study Chinese. I will bring a bunch of Dutch snacks for my teachers and classmates. If you're interested I can bring extra so you can make a video of the Shanghai people trying and reacting to the Dutch stroopwafel or our dreaded salty candies. Are all the Hongkou district's old buildings already demolished? I'm travelling to China (most likely to Shanghai) at the end of 2024. My main purpose for this trip is to photoghaph old rugged houses that shows traces of time, not some sterile modern buildings nor some ancient builduings polished for tourists.
Are there some other areas in Shanghai similar to old Hongkou?
