This is superior scanning technology compared with the uncomfortable wing bite rays youre given with routine check ups. Highly recommended for any tooth extraction. Luminous charges NZ$120 for an OPG usually they cost up to $200 in NZ depending on the dentist.
It’s good for certain views depends on what the dentists needs to assess the bitewings are smaller ones are more detailed for cavities and finer signs of bone loss issues related to infection early gum disease detail that will be missed on a panoramic view 😊

I have done 10,000 OPGs. What a pity the OPG shown was with the patients head tilted up about 10 degrees from optimal. That is why the incisors does show their roots and the bones in the roof of the mouth are projected over the roots of many of the top teeth. There is also some rotation, indicated by the wisdom teeth on the patients right appearing smaller than those on the left.
@@sulesundayeo7668 There isn't much you can do. The geometry of an OPG is largely set by the machine. Most OPG machines have a special function to show TMJs. There is a lot of variation in the size of jaws from children to women and men.
@@sulesundayeo7668 Follow the instructions that come with the OPG machine. That is, to tilt the head correctly, which didn't happen in the video. Truly evil medieval iron maiden contraption. Was in this about a week ago and the revolving part wouldn't clear my shoulders, so the dental assistant had me leaning back a bit further. She ran the machine and it knocked me HARD and I heard a big CRACK as it almost pulled out my bottom two teeth with that little clamp down plastic bit. In pain now and can't eat anything remotely hard or anyways does any sort of suction to that part of my mouth. Instant pain. Seriously, the convenience of this to get a panoramic view of all teeth, is not worth the risk. If they ask you to do this, say HELL NO.
Holy crap. That's horrible! I just had this done and it hit me too and must happen a lot because she warned me. I have an inoperable brain tumor and limit radiation so I argued my case for about 5 minutes but finally agreed because my freaking tooth hurt and I need the root canal....sounds like you need one too now, and it should be on the house.
The x-ray isn't the problem, it's the technician that you had who was the problem. I've had lots of these done between March 2016 and now and I haven't encountered any incompetent technicians like that one so far.

My dentist didnt make me take out my ear rings or industrial bars, and she didnt give me any protective lead vest to wear. I wish I saw this and knew about this before the x ray .. Now i'm probably going to die by cancer in my 20s
PANs and CT scans can slightly differ -- some don't require use of the lead apron. also, the earrings are for us to properly see everything so they don't get in the way of the photo -- removing them is not related to your health. hope this helps!
Most of the impact in my shoulder, where I need a shoulder replacement so it didn't feel good. I have an inoperable brain tumor and limit radiation so I argued my case for about 5 minutes but finally agreed because my freaking tooth hurt and I need the root canal....sounds like you need one too now, and it should be on the house.
My emergency dentist wouldn't extract my infected tooth without one, even though I just had a pano 2 years before.
@@cottonwoodcreekfarm They said you had to get one?
The x-ray isn't the problem, it's the technician that you had who was the problem. I've had lots of these done between March 2016 and now and I haven't encountered any incompetent technicians like that one so far.
@@lovelydolltime8006 It WAS the machine, it didn't fit the size of anyone not of a standard size. My shoulders are wider and didn't conform to the machine. Truly not the technician's issue.
so touching for an excellent video
They did not place an apron on me, why?
Because they're inept. File a complaint with your dental board and they'll do an inspection.

a few times a year is fine -- but for dental professionals taking multiple on patients every single work day -- that would be too much! hope this helps!
