  • Aloha Happy People. Mom got some goodies from Shinichi and Aineesan. She wanted to show you the goodies that she received from Japan. She makes Packaged Matsumae Zuke (Pickled dried squid & Kelp) she received from Shinichi & she will use the beautiful dried turnip she received from Aineesan and make Hariharizuke (pickled dried daikon)

    Hi Niki,
    Your mom is so cute. I remember my mom making something similar.
    Yeah, when I went back to working at the office face became dry from the mask.

    Sister Nat chan, your mama is too Kawaii ne! I love both dishes that she made. The tororo kombu reminded me of the mozuku that my mama used to love to slurp down. Of course, without the ika….. the crunch of the turnip is amazing! I’m going to look for dried turnip next time I visit the Japanese market and make this recipe. The boys and sister Aineesan are awesome! BTW….My mama used to have the same measuring spoons. Hontoni natsukashi ne!

    Does your mom make saba? I’m one of those weird, rare white Americans who loves it. My Japanese “grandma” (a truer grandma than my real one, in every single way) got me hooked. If it’s part of your kitchen, would love to see what your mom does with it. Servers at Japanese restaurants will always ask me “are you sure?” Yup!

    Wow. Koreans also eat the sanw stuff! Koreana eat dried daikon in red spicy sauce as side dish as well.

    Obasan is such a good cook, she reminds of my okasan. The food looks delicious I want to see if I can find these at Nijiya or Marukai

    Love moms cooking videos. It’s so good to document these kinds of recipes, they’re the ones that get lost to time as us newer generations start eating different dishes.
    What kind vinegar was that used in the daikon recipe? Just regular apple cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar?

    • @aineesan25
      @aineesan25 2 роки тому +2

      It's better to use Rice vinegar for Japanese dish.
      When I make some pickles of vegetables , I always use rice vinegar😃👍
