The C permit is called " never leave permit " restrictions are - you are not required to do military service ( if you are young ) and not vote, but you can buy property, if you leave the country for more then two years then you lose the permit.
This is amazing! Congratulations! I’m waiting for my own PR process to be approved and it’s been daunting. Really happy to see videos like this that are so informative. All the best to you and your family!
Congrats Olivia and thanks so much for all your videos! I've just spent two weeks in Switzerland and used your vids to make the most of my time there. I'm from London and just realised I can get Irish citizenship through my grandparents, seriously considering moving there! It's so serene and beautiful. Also felt quite a bit more relaxed and sparse compared to UK cities.
congrats! I did not realize that it is that difficult. I am also non-EU, came to switzerland to work for a big Swiss company, and at the end of the first 5 years with a B permit, I expected them to ask me to apply for another 5 years, but they just sent me a letter inviting me to go to the local council office to collect my C permit. I did not have to do anything to apply for it. But this was in 2008.
Switzerland is logical. You had a good job for 5 years and paid taxes and all the other stuff and have no debts, than you get c permit or citizenship without a struggle. Of course there is a little difference for EU and non EU.
congratulations on getting the Swiss PR. Me a US citizen, want to move to Switzerland living as a retiree and buy a place for myself, but that will be an impossible dream. My first trip to Switzerland is coming up in August this year and will make the best out of that 2 week trip.
Congrats on the C-Permit I wonder now what the difference is when the partner is a Swiss citizen. Oh and one hint, yes you have Asian looks, but then again, one of my frens is Black, and he's about as Swiss as it gets, hell he is either speaking in his Swiss dialect or English. So looks are very desieveing. But I can understand why you'd prefer to keep the Singaporean citizanship over the Swiss on 🙂
the C permit is nice, i have it too. but for retirement you need the swiss pass. otherwise you loose social support and retirement if you leave thecountry for more than 6 months a year.
The biggest difference between B and C permit is tax level (lower for C) plus you can buy a property and rent it (b can buy for purpose of living in it). Additionally C perm and citizens need to file their taxes. With B permit you renew it each 5 years, not one year.
Congrats me too at the beginning of 2024 after 8 years but with the 5 year shortened as a Canadian Curious, what does your husband have now? You have the more strong permit 🔥
Nice video however I do think your husbands status in the country had a positive effect on your application given that you submitted a marriage contract
Hello Olivia, Congratulations and I hope you are enjoying your Permit C. Do you have to pay wealth tax with Permit C and if you leave the country for more than 6 months, do you have to pay this tax?
I believe you have to live in Switzerland in total of 10 years in order to apply. And depending on the municipal you are living in they can be super strict with the citizenship. Some let the whole town/ municipal vote upon you. Western part of Switzerland is known to be less strict by giving out citizenships.
Congratulations on your PR. Have you been working 5 years too or you learned language first? Is it one of the criteria to work 5 years also for getting PR or not?
Congrats. Swiss is super scenic and nice though. Just back from a 2 weeks Swiss tour after watching your videos. But why not stay in Singapore for the convenience?
Thank you for the video, it was super helpful! Do you know whether the 5 years of continuous stay for US/CA citizenship holders applies for five years of continual education, or is a working status of 5 years required?
Great video Olivia thx a lot .... Would you please clarify about the past 5 years... How many years do you employ? How many years do you study? According to your information, you weren't allowed to change your employer right ?
Thanks for the video! Just a quick question about whether or not your husband needed to meet the language requirements as you had to go through? Are both of you required to be able to speak the language from the canton?
Hi, your videos are really helpful. I just want to ask how's the weather like in the last week of May to early June? Because I'm traveling to Switzerland by those times. What are the things/ clothes I need to pack? Your reply means a lot. Thank you so much.
I’m a single Singaporean Chinese who speaks English and Mandarin, and learning French and Italian now. May I know if I can still have my Singapore citizenship if I get a B permit or Swiss PR? Thanks in advance!
helloo, love your video ., i was planning to go to switzerland this june for 2 days from zurich do you have any guide or anything? i wanted to go to matterhorn.
I want to come to Switzerland as sn international student. I want to study computer science. Does the 4 year as a student count. Or i should live in Switzerland for 5 more years. And is it easy for students to get pr
Ive a question 🙋, if you want to apply for swiss 🇨🇭 citizenship after getting swiss PR. How many years more you have to stay in switzerland 🇨🇭. Or can you apply for citizenship right after you got permanent residency?
Congratulations! And just the info I’m looking for. May I ask what is the nationality of your husband? You mentioned you applied under fast track; which criteria made you qualify for fast track? Fellow SEAsian here 😊
@@Olliechinny thanks for the reply! I’m on my 4th year and wondering if it’s possible to attempt at Y5-so you gave me hope 🥰 I guess I misunderstood (and maybe it’s canton to canton regulations as well, I’m in Basel); I thought the requirements you enumerated were the standard everywhere, which we would still need to prove at 10th year; and that fast track means you have eligible circumstances (like having Swiss or EU spouse turning C) on top of the standard.
Congratulations! I had a small query. I am a non EU EFTA B permit holder. Do you know if we can search for another job if I lose my current Job or Do I have to leave the country?
Really great content. Happy for you. I had a query though: If you (non EU/EFTA/EEA) are married to a Swiss citizen who is working in Switzerland, is it possible for you to get a work permit to work in Germany? For clarity, here the Swiss citizen is still working in Switzerland. But the non-EU/EFTA/EEA spouse from the third country wants to work in Germany. Is it legally possible?
I appreciate that this video is not too long and it's very direct and informative. Thank you! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
I watch your videos every now and then about Switzerland. Congrats on the PR!
I appreciate that! Thank youu
The C permit is called " never leave permit " restrictions are - you are not required to do military service ( if you are young ) and not vote, but you can buy property, if you leave the country for more then two years then you lose the permit.
Time to change that
This is amazing! Congratulations! I’m waiting for my own PR process to be approved and it’s been daunting. Really happy to see videos like this that are so informative. All the best to you and your family!
You can do it! All the best for your application!!

Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for sharing my joy!
Very helpful! Thanks for this very clear explanation.

B1 for non EU equivalent with L for EU
Renew each year, link to home adress and employer
Nice tips and reflections.

Hello Olivia, Congratulations and I hope you are enjoying your Permit C. Do you have to pay wealth tax with Permit C and if you leave the country for more than 6 months, do you have to pay this tax?
Switcherland has allowed dual citizenship since 1922. You may want to check..
You may want to check that Singapore does not allow dual citizenship since independence.
@@OlliechinnyLol. You didn't clarify that in the video...
Next step swiss citizenship! 😎🇨🇭
no i wont apply for that and explained why :)
Congratulations.
In case if you want to apply swiss citizenship after your c permit. How long you have to wait ? Or you can apply now ?

Have you been working 5 years too or you learned language first?
Is it one of the criteria to work 5 years also for getting PR or not?
I didn’t work for 5 continuous years as I was unemployed in between so no this is not the main criteria.
Are Swiss PR holders entitled to the same social benefits as Swiss citizens, I mean various subsidies and payments from the Swiss government?
Congrats. Swiss is super scenic and nice though. Just back from a 2 weeks Swiss tour after watching your videos. But why not stay in Singapore for the convenience?
Singapore is kinda stressful to live in....but thank you and i hope you enjoyed switzerland!
@@Olliechinnyagree. its terribly stressful in Singapore.

I studied in Singapore. I worked for 3 diff companies. I changed companies not because I quit, but each time I was laid off and had to find a new job.
I’m considering working in Zurich. Is it lonely and hard make friends? I will move without knowing anybody.
Congratulations!! May I ask what DELF level did you acquire before/when starting your first job? Thank you!
None. I didn’t have any french fluency before I started work, only just begun A1
Thanks for the video! Just a quick question about whether or not your husband needed to meet the language requirements as you had to go through? Are both of you required to be able to speak the language from the canton?
We both have passed DELF B2

I alr did a video on this, please check!
Congratulations! Do you think your content creation on Switzerland was another driver that got them deciding you were worthy of a C permit?
Possibly…? Although I doubt Canton Vaud follows me on my UA-cam and IG…? 😂

So you just need to have min. A1 and A2 German language ?
A1 Written and B1 oral German, French or Italian (depending on the language of the Canton you reside)
are you going to get swiss citizenship in 5 years? singapore doesn't allow dual citizenship and both are very valuable
Already said in the video that I won’t
Can you help how did you learn French?
Did you apply after completing the 5 years living in the country or have you sent the papers a little bit before that?
After 5 years
Did you receive a letter stating that you can apply for a permit C or you just applied directly ? 😮
I applied directly
What is your job in Switzerland?
If you had a L permit for 1,5 year, does it count for the 5 years residency rule to apply for a C permit? Or does only B permit time count?
The L does not count
😢
Is it important to be in the same Canton for the specific period of time to get C permit for immigrants?
Yes. 5 continuous years
Is dual nationality legitimate in Singapore?
No. I do not have dual citizenship and don’t intend to.
Is it true that you need to earn over 100k per year to get a work permit?
No, not true
Salut,Olivia!Parlez vous Français?Si oui, parle FRANÇAIS sil vous plait! Merci,au revoir. Je suis un Japonais a Japon.
