the merging of the secondary hull and saucer makes some sense to me as a continuation of ship evolution.
the sovereign, prometheus, and intrepid class all had the secondary hull pulling back closer to the saucer.
Personally I like this 'extreme' enterprise. I just wish it was shown snd explained more. Like more screentime and story.
I think this is one of those eaglemoss models that would be rated NFCO not for cat owners especially the struts and nacelles which looks like a 3in drop would be lethal.
Still cool as hell and the fact that Doug drexler did put this amount of work into a design that was on screen for a handful of seconds is a testament to the man and his commitment to his job.
The fan that named the class made a great name.
One of the best Enterprise designs imo.

I really like listening to Captain Foley! Has such a fantastic grasp of Star Trek lore and a good speaker!
Kinda disappointed, you'd think that far in the future they would have graduated from exposed nacelles. They've always screamed out to me as an easy target that can cripple the ship if one is taken out. Integrated like the defiant or the steamrunner makes more sense.
If you think about it, in all those centuries they probably would have graduated from warp drive, phasers, etc. Just like there's no tech on a 21st century naval vessel that anyone from the 17th century would even recognize. But it's Star Trek, and that tech is "brand," soooo..
There's a fan extrapolation of this ship that expanded upon what we didn't see at the time: it added a secondary hull like 1701-E, blending all the shapes together with a thicker saucer edge like the original Enterprise into the massive shape of the J... oddly bringing about an Enterprise that is about the size I used to think the TOS Enterprise was back in the day. Well, my day or 80s reruns that is.
My model was just like yours with the deflector popped up. I just a few beads of super glue and all is well.
Never cared for the "J". It just looks wrong to me, but I have ape brain when it comes to this design. But just because it is not a favorite of mine does not mean that someone else thinks it is the best design ever, and there is IDIC for us.

Yes Stuart, my XL Enterprise J has that same loose front near the saucer. I agree with you the Enterprise J needed a better defined lower hull. It looks pretty good from the top view. But glad now I know how to fix the saucer issue.
I think this ship turned out looking pretty good for as far in the future and as many alien races that had influence on the design of it

My personal opinion is that this is one of the best enterprise designs ever made unfortunately it was never really fleshed out and shown in its full glory. My top 3 list for the enterprise is
1. Enterprise J
2. Enterprise E
3. Enterprise F
Wow I just found out that a future Trill host Of Dax is the Captain of NCC- 1701-J
so the bridge is somewhere in the center under the big yellow glow?
I am still waiting for eaglemoss to release a XL version of the Probert Ambassador.

Wow, mine is loose too! The same detail on the model is not glued and can go up and down.
I like all of the EM XL Enterprises except the "A" and the "C". Those didn't come out well at all IMO. For those I just have to build kits that are near the same size.
prefer some of the concept art too, the final design is very... simplistic. I mean we only see a screen graphic but I think the scene wouldn't loose anything if they just cuted it and left the design for the fans to speculate
J is probably last of the line. After this city ship, technology will have moved beyond the need of ships. Something more like cities wrapped in force fields that can move through space.

I would do the Equinox XL because that ship had way more screen time
The problem this ship faces it scale wise, should be close to the size of the playmates enterprise d, and it doesn't help the fact that it isn't massive as it should be, and a good guide line for reference although they change certain facts, but S.T.O. shows the enterprise j being almost the size of a star base.
Honestly if I was eaglemoss I would quit sending these out for review. Almost every single review shows that there's something missing or there's a piece that's broken or bent funny. and the captain is always talking about how easy it is to fix all of these things. you shouldn't have to fix these things when they come right out of the box. If it would be okay if it was every once in awhile, but at this point it's like every single model is broken and has a problem.
Especially not at that price.This is the first time i looked op a model, and i thought 15 bucks would be pushing it.. But 75 dollars :O

What baffles me is about this ship are the windows. Because of the size of this ship, it's flatness and window placement, I'm thinking these huge windows would be above your head and not in front of you. Something about the design of this ship gives me a little anxiety. It looks so fragile to travel in. Maybe it's just me.
I want one in the same scale as an NX-01!

Honestly not a fan but if they did an xl j the f will be arriving in time I bet
I don't really care for this Version, the spine all the way from the front to the back of the engines especially the engines are not eye pleasing. The saucer is the only thing worth keeping in this design.

yes neat stuff be some thing see what trek will look like say by the year 3001 and what the UFP and others will come out with yes all dun by ues but in show will see the other thing say we get ships that work like trek ships and say hy you know that TV show had good dezines why not pic one or two and go with them (and ens up being the klenons LOL have best ones ) post new and see it
Can't say I love hearing "I'm not a fan" every four sentences, followed by heavy sighs and eye rolls. I mean... Respectfully, we're not watching this to hear you say how much you hate the ship. We want to know how the model is. We get it. You hate the design. That's your right. But for the rest of us who came here for the info, could you please get over yourself? (Sorry, don't mean to be a jerk here...)
Eaglemoss can make the lamest starship look good.
I can honestly say that this is my least liked star trek ship. yet thats an understatement as i think it is both silly and illogical in every single way
