They basically made a London taxi driver with bilateral hippocampal lesions play it to see how well he would find his way around. The paper is called „Navigation around London by a taxi driver with bilateral hippocampal lesions“ by Maguire et al., if anyone wants to read it. It features screenshots and it’s very funny to read how they go on and on about the realism of the game.
I'm going to be honest here, for a decade and a half I have slightly wondered what that game I used to play in my next door neighbors room was, It had driving and exactly that opening cut scene. It was the first real game I was ever able to play, Now I know the name, my internet quest has ended. Thank you, Kevin, for your delightfully shotgunned approach to the world of gaming, without you I might never have know what that random game my neighbor used to own was.
I'm pretty sure Kevin has gotten away from much worse things then some angry cars, like the police! Or tax fraud! Who knows, maybe even murder! Crimes against humanity isn't enough with this guy. Nooo, he had to go all the way.

Oh my god. I watched the beginning of this video and somewhere I recognized this game! I got further and also looked it up and I remember that I used to play this game SO MUCH! this is pure nostalgia for me! You're a legend Kevin.
This is a great game. I've put hours into it and its sequel. Anyway, there is an auto aim. To heal, you need to lean against a wall until the blood stains are gone from your jacket (unless it's too bad, then you just die anyway), and every mission ends with a cut scene. You needed to get upstairs on that last one because the person you needed to talk to was up there, if I remember correctly. This was made by the same guy who made LA Noire. Many of the mechanics are the same. Your car will explode if you crash it into too many things and the indicators can be broken if you get hit from behind. Remember, mission is over usually when you hit a cut scene. Hope this helps!!
I know this is a year old, but you can heal by standing at a wall, he will then rest and regenerate... How come 95% of these blind lets plays are always people not figuring out stuff and then leaving the game frustrated? It might not be a 10/10 masterpiece, but its an old classic.
Kevin you could have stood by a wall so the character can lean on it and regain health! It's a movie game after all. Can't have those pesky first aid kits flying about.
