In theory yes, but I suspect many of these are stolen in which case under UK law they remain the property of the owner (or insurance company if claimed for) and in UK law you can’t get good title to stolen property.. that includes wheels and engines
Could be a nice community project for the diving club. Get the councils support to clean up the water (dripping sump oil / old gas etc), solve some thefts, and sell some parts & projects. As a classic car & bike restorer myself I can see a few useable bits that would look OK with a quick pressure wash. A tilt tray tow truck, a crane truck with some straps and 3 or 4 local lads...
You used to be able to drive up pretty close to it. Haven't been up there for about 20 years, so don't know if that's still the case. It's just that not many people know about it and the turn off from the main road is pretty obscured, so it's easy to miss.
I tried to recover the motorbike years ago, we got it out the water but couldn't get it onto the land and the mooring rope broke and it fell back in so just left it there. 🤣
@@divexplore21 It was actually really good condition a lot of years ago, the big dent wasn't in the tank etc. I'd no idea what I was gonna do with it back then, I just fancied it for a trophy 🤣
Time to try and get it again it could definitely be restored with some hard work and would definitely be a classic motorcycle now the tank could be repaired by putting compressed air in the tank to push the dent out . I would use a manual ratchet chain to pull it out of the water and anchor that to a ground anchor like a large rock or dig a hole near the edge of the water to make a ground anchor to connect the ratchet winch to I think I would be a fun & exciting project and would make a great UA-cam video showing that it got pulled out of the quarry lake and could be a running motorcycle again.
