Great video & yes the footbridge was from Fitzroy North which spanned over the station & goods yard right across from Brunswick Street Oval & right through Edinburgh Gardens as part of the inner circle line. I remember seeing that footbridge in the early 1990’s when Fitzroy Football Club was holding events at Brunswick Street Oval to keep the club in the AFL. Appartments now sit where the station, footbridge & goods yard used to be
Hi Les & Floyd, great video and story behind this line. I remember not only when the line was still in use and being stuck at the crossing in Mornington, but also going on this Tourist run in 2000/01, not much has changed at the main yard. Sad to hear Floyd is leaving, as a viewer it's been a fun collaboration to watch between you guys in all your videos.
I have been a fan of this channel since September 2016. It's great that you finally uploaded again! I'll make sure to subscribe to Floyd's new channel!
It was great to see another video again, guys! I hope you have been well. I don’t mind that it was long- it was great. Sometimes the long ones are the best, and you really feel like you’re on the adventure too. I didn’t really expect a video of this, so it was a nice surprise. I loved your Mornington walk video, and I’ve watched it many times. Historical railways are really interesting. Good on you for getting support from Mornington Railway to film- not many organisations do and it can be a great way to learn historical information that may not necessarily be found elsewhere. I can tell Arthur really likes what he does, he’s informative, and a pleasure to watch and learn from. Not surprising that he is a UA-camr :) I’m sorry you’ll be leaving Fogarty Avenue, Floyd. I am sad that we won’t see you around, but I wish you the best for the future! Good on you guys for recording history yet again. We’ve got to keep that going, and take it with us into the future. Not sure if/when you’ll be uploading again, but I hope to see more of your adventures sometime. Thanks for the content, the history and the lols :) Sprouters! Sophie
ive been looking forward to this video since a month ago when floyd told me they where cooking up a new vid, arthur seemed very nice and passionate about his job, it was cool because you dont see that much now days. its very sad to hear that floyd is leaving but i understand that you are very busy, also good luck at uni floyd!
Wow a new video, wil be happy too watch it, and wait too tomorrow for the update while grinding my teeth lol hope you guys are doing ok ( was already planning too send over some cadaver dogs :-) ) Sorry too see you go Floyd, but if life has other plans just follow them, good luck with it mate.
All the Australian rail signal boxes looked very much the same Adelaide had a few the only one that still stands is in Belair railway station on platform 3 and sit abandoned like a lot of stations in the Adelaide hills and the only one that still works is at national railway museum that has the signal box in use is from Woodville
Great video! I enjoyed every minute of it! I must get down there one day. The title of the video is a bit deceiving. The Mornington Line is abandoned. The tourist railway isn’t. Sad to hear Floyd is leaving. The interplay between Floyd and Les made the channel what it was. Alas, all good things must come to an end.
As Victoria rail and south Australia railways had a agreement that the shell of Holden cars to be built at Woodville and the car to marry up with engines at fisherman’s bend and that’s how the FX 48215 was built
I remembered the old carriages at the end, I remember going from Wangaratta to Melbourne on them. they had way more class and style than the newer ones they use now, and you can see why they called them red rattlers. I always wondered what the pull the chain to stop the train did, maybe a signal in the locomotive?
The chain opened a valve in the air braking system, causing air pressure to be lost and thus causing the brakes to come on (they are spring loaded so that you require air pressure to release them. This is a safety measure).
Oops forgot to put the time of the end speech. Go to 1:11:31 if you just want the announcement.
hey It's Arthur From the Video, it was a massive pleasure taking you and your friend around the Sheds and the signalbox
Cheers again mate!
@@FloydBromley no problem
@JS317Productions nope, I left the railway as they didn't treat me as a equal
Half of your facts were completely wrong lol
@@jrailways I was 16 at the Time, so I've improved since then

Do the puffing billy railway
I have personly walked the whole length but it's trespassing so the owners could get salty if I filmed it. There's signs everywhere.
Wow cool the for replying

I always remember seeing this in the old carriage, and I guess they would know who pulled it because the chain would hang down lower.
Kool
This always happens to great collaborations. Who is the Yoko?

The update video tomorrow will explain everything.
