    I’ve told dozens of people about your channel. Watched for years now and still amazed at how you keep all those calves alive every winter.

    I don't agree with selling an old cow just because she is old. As long as she raises a decent calf without special care she gets to stay around. One of my friends was just recently selling cows that were 26 years old. But i do agree to cull hard on the heifers. I even cull the heifers that raised a calf but i had to work with her to accept the calf. You got to be a decent mom from the start or you don't stick around.

    The calves all look pretty good eh. Good to have some help back home eh lol. To bad it had to happen this way.
    We sold a handful of steers and a bull here the other day. We got not quiet a buck/pound for the big bull and the steers averaged 1.80/pound so not to bad.

    Given the mortality you experienced on your new born calves, are you not able to shift your bulling season, so that calves are born in the warmer season?

      After Christmas I don't go to town except every couple weeks, and the only thing to change is now Jessica can help me do chores every day.

    From Down under, things are closing down here as well. School are shutting down early for our Easter break. People are going crazie over certain food products. We have to travel anything from 400 to 900 k to get grogeries. We have staff here we have to feed but at major shops we can only get 2 of a lot of items, they dont understand about staff and distance. This is showing what a selfish mob us humans have become. Saw a photo the other day of a line of people with food coupons after the 2nd world war and they were all orderly and waiting their turn, they had respect for their fellow neighbours. All the best to you and yours during this crisis.

      We always buy in bulk so I was glad we didn't need toilet paper because it is still in short supply. My wife works at the post office and people try to steal the hand sanitizer everyday.

      No I'm not related to Jim Anderson, unless it is very distant from back in Sweden, 150years ago.

    Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Quick question, what illness were you treating with Resflor? We use it here in Ireland mostly for respiratory infections. Also what is Draxen? We don't have it here but I've heard a few US farmers like Sowerscattleco mention it. Thanks

    • @AndersonCattleCo
      @AndersonCattleCo  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it is for respiratory , Draxxin is a good drug but the EU doesn't like it, it is very expensive but works.

    Good looking group of cows. Stick to your plan with getting rid of the cows that cant keep calves. This adds to the bottom line for sure.

      Well said. My uncle has a cow calf operation and one simple thing he measures is operating expense per cow vs revenue per cow. Obviously, the higher the revenue per cow vs the operating expense per cow the better off the producer is.
