Darlington Council is obligated annually in May to prepare pieces of land for The Travellers/Gypsies and the Trailers/Vardahs near Winston . Winston is between Darlington and Barnard Castle the infamous A66 towards Appleby and its Ancient Gypsy Fair . Afterwards they head for The Hoppings at Newcastle (The Hoppings is more The Fun Of The Fair ) Appleby is a Horse Fair and serious about Cobs/Vanners .
I really enjoy seeing your videos. I and my late wife used to come to this every year since 2010. All the way from San Angelo Texas. In fact we bought our first Gypsy cob pair from here. We were both at this fair that I'm watching now. This brings back good memories. Thank you for filming this and sharing it.
I'm pleased that you enjoy watching the videos, I did make three dvds, all sold out now. Its on my doorstep only around 40 miles, it's always intrigued me and that way of life, the fair is a genuine spectacle, I'm amazed that you visited each year all the way from Texas. I once met an American couple and joked that i'd asked for the covered wagon to make an appearance for them and they fell for the joke, until I let them in on the joke. ;-) Continue to enjoy them they are all free to watch..!
i do really like how everybody is friendy, horses meet up, everybody happy and so are the animals. but the the riders look like there taking horses for granted. pulling way too much, kicking way to hard, just little pulls and nudges would do the same. carry a normall whip instead of a stick and a plastic bag to TAP the horse with it.
henriette oakheart shut up us gypsys take more care or are HORSES than anybody else so stop what your saying and go watch a my little pony vid before u start pointing out stuff that isn't true

Aww gypsy vanners everywhere! It would be nice to see at least ONE gypsy vanner at the horse shows here in the U.S....my aunt breeds gypsy vanners though. I wish I had the means to buy one. I have nowhere to keep it though...and I can barely afford to take care of myself. One day I'll have one!
Lindsay Grove In UK the Gypsy Horse is also used to establish ownership of Gypsy Family land , especially in Old Mining ⛏ Villages such as Burnhopfield etc .

Pointless as a form of transport but great to see people living to their heritage .
I love gypsei vanners
The editing is rough, as my computer can't handle large renders, but plenty of action and horses in this one for everyone.
I remember going to Appleby as a kid. This brings back old memories of the smell of trodden grass and mud and the hawking of junk dealers in the rain.
