This blows my mind. I just watched the Rick Beato interview February of 2024. Matteo referenced this video. Could Matteo possibly be the best living guitarist? He can play anything and play it super clean!!! I have been playing over 30 years and would not be able to play this song. Matteo I am glad you are so young and your parents raised such a grounded human. We get to enjoy you for decades 💜
He's an amazing talent to be sure, and catching a lot of deserved attention from legendary players who's work he can cover. It's a bit early to be throwing the best living guitarist title around though, he has a long way to go there! (For me, that's probably Guthrie Govan at the moment.)
@@vlobster7660 absolutely! Yes, he's 24 but has been playing since he was 8, I think. One is not long out of theta state of mind by age 8, so it make sense how he's so accustomed to it. Akin to Tiger Woods swinging a golf club at 3 years old, look at what he achieved, number one in his game for 13/14 years! Conditioning at an early age goes a long way.

Yeah, I just watched the Rick Beato interview with Matteo and Mateus Asato where Matteo was kind of dogging on himself for this video lacking quality and sound and had wanted to maybe keep it private or delete it as he said here in the description. I'm glad he did keep it up as it is a snapshot of where he was at the time some 10 years ago and he has quite a few other videos up since then for us to also enjoy his tremendous talent. He truly is a mind blowingly gifted musician and I run to any and all of his videos I can possibly catch.

I guess you know it well but you've developed an amazing technique. I have never seen a guitarist playing (shredding) with fingers on electric guitar with distortion and in addition being so clean. Truly amazing work

No muting of the open strings a good deal of the time and he's not getting dissonance from them under distortion. So his left hand is incredibly precise. Very, very precise technique he has developed.
Can't get enough of your stuff. It blows my mind that you're able to get such precise speed on an electric with this technique and NO noise from ringing strings. Truly unique!

I tried to develop a playing technique just like this as I was a piano player in my youth. But my guitar teacher called it nonsense and told me to drop it. Now that I’ve seen this video I’m glad that someone can do it and sound GREAT at the same time. Rock on

I'm simply in AWE at how talented this guy is. I mean besides Buckethead I don't think I've ever seen or heard anyone with so much raw talent on guitar. There are oodles upon oodles of excellent guitar players out there, however, truly inspiring and truly GIFTED players are few and far between. I can't wait to listen to what you do for the next 30 years or so and that'll make me 85 years old so I'm glad I got to live to see/hear someone this dedicated to the craft.

Paul can easily play this, even in this style. Not to take anything from this guy but if it’s impressive to be able to play this that it’s insane that he wrote this at such a young age.

Nah Paul could not play this song with this exact 2-3 finger right hand picking exclusively style, but he could likely do a lot better then some would think he would and could likely bs his way through it and make it sounds pretty dang solid, but nah very few if any elite shredders like that can do the pure finger picking on right hand like Matteo here can, anyways your right on that Gilbert and many other greats but in this case Gilbert wrote this when he was like in his early 20s that is Next level stuff for sure. I have a feeling a lot of ultra talented guitar players who are able to get there technique to extremely high levels would find actual song writing let alone writing a piece that is a all time great one and memorable the world over for decades- that would likely be the hardest part for sure, for example It is entirely possible that Matteo maty never write a song even close to as catchy and memorable and great as this in his entire life and his actual writings may simply never be this good even though his technique and ability to play any song almost certainly is that good, but will just have to see I believe he just now came out with his first solo Album actually so will see ya know. I have been following Matteo for quite some time and I’m glad that he is finally receiving the recognition that he deserves. Since the first time I saw him I felt like he was going to redefine virtuosity for the guitar. He, along with Mateus Asato are my favorite young guitar players and in my opinion the finest of their generation.
Two minutes in and I haven't looked at anything but the right hand. Why the devil would anyone even think to attempt this track without a plectrum - unless of course one had the extraordianry talent to pull it off! Full marks young man!!

I have been following Matteo for quite some time and I’m glad that he is finally receiving the recognition that he deserves. Since the first time I saw him I felt like he was going to redefine virtuosity for the guitar. He, along with Mateus Asato are my favorite young guitar players and in my opinion the finest of their generation.

Who needs a pick? Not Matteo. He managed to seemlessly fuse his classical training (right hand technique with his electric playing, bypassing the pick. Did he succeed? Are you kidding?
I was amazed that the first comment is a bad one, than saw it was Matteo own notes on the material. Well you can criticize yourself. But I like it. And a lot. Awesome guitar player.
