I have used a 12 gauge shotgun for small game hunting since I was a kid (birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc.). During my US Navy enlistment, the same weapon was my favorite as a Ship's Security Team member, and can't be beaten in the confines of a ship while repelling boarders. I now rely on my 12 gauge (18.5" barrel) slug gun for home protection. There is nothing more terrifying to an intruder than the sound of a homeowner racking a shotgun. The only problem I have is the cleanup after the cops leave. Rural residents/farmers also often prefer the shotgun for home protection.
You've never shot anyone with a shotgun or discharged a shotgun indoors. If you had you'd know there is less mess than a handgun and you will flashbang yourself. Sounds like you had fun pretending though.
Fair point here, but me personally - id never choose a shotgun over my AN602 (Tsar Bomba) with a blast yield of 50-58 megatons of tnt. You just drop that 27000 kg monster and both you, the attacker and the entire state/country you are in go bye bye with the explosion shattering windows up to 300km away and a blast wave circling the earth 3 times to alert everyone of what youve done. If you use a shotgun, better call the coroner, plasterer and painter.
In my case, just the coroner 😆
😂 you forgot a carpet cleaner. Brilliant comment
I just think the shotgun is bad if the intruder is stealing one of your kids. It gets harder to hit just a headshot the farther they go away bro. And also, a pistol shotgun is even better for the home but youll surely hit the intruder, the kids, the fish tank, the dog. The pistol is much smaller and you can hold it close to your body and it doesnt get in the way and you can fit it into different spots easier. Maybe two glocks at the sams time? Dual weild? Is this actually a good time for one to dual weild? Maybe, maybe not. What if you need a hand, and have to drop a gun and you come back and its gone. Now you armed your enemy. But if that doesnt happen then you have two guns and you dont have to reload for a while
@@TheAnnoyingBoss the chances of hitting the body at all in a home defense situation are already pretty low considering the stress levels you’re experiencing, the small hallways and rooms, the fear of not knowing if the person is armed, and probable darkness. Most videos of home invasion self defense shootings end with multiple shots fired (sometimes with return fire) but the invader runs away with no damage, or WORSE they run away wounded, meaning they can press charges against you. Imo there is no other viable option than a shotgun because you don’t have to be precise and it will likely end the threat with minimal legal battles afterwards. Regardless of what you use you will go to jail for killing someone in self defense. But, if the court finds that your actions were justified, then you will not be convicted of a crime.
No need, I have a burn pit out back.. dry wall and paint is a lot cheaper than a layer 😂

Two things that should have been mentioned. 1. Instead of 1, 9mm diameter projectile potentially going through walls, you have 9, 9mm projectiles.
2. As the video clearly shows, the buckshot does spread, but notice that the group isn't anymore than 6", at a distance of about 30 feet, meaning, you STILL have to aim and be fairly accurate even with a shotgun.
This is explained in Magpul's Art of the Dynamic Shotgun video. Shotguns aren't a 'point and hit everything in that general direction' weapon like everyone thinks it is.

I respectfully disagree. The moment the intruder enters the home, he is subject to castle doctrine, which allows the homeowner to shoot and kill the intruder. Period. If someone breaks into my home or the homes of most people I know, he has made himself an instant target because:
1. He has shown total disregard for all occupants by breaking in.
2. His full intentions cannot possibly be known by the occupants.
3. It is unacceptable to place the life of either occupant in jeopardy for even a moment simply because you feel you should take time to fully gauge the intruder's intentions.
4. *Everyone* knows it is wrong to break into a home, and ignorance of the law is no excuse. Everyone who decides to break into a home should understand that he is willingly giving up his life for a foolish pursuit.

That's referring to the birdshot. Then the man told Chappelle that the buckshot would kill a man.
Lame.

It’s definitely the box with the deer on it! 😂
A big point he avoided addressing is manoeuvring a shotgun around in your home as compared to manoeuvring a pistol.
Please do yourself a favour and look up a SS-211 and then tell me about manoeuvring around in a house being an issue.
That’s why you have both
Just tuck you shotgun under/over your shoulder depending on you grip.

My favorite saying "when you absolutely positively need to kill the shit out of something, take a shotgun"
When you need to shoot something in a place that makes it dead
.45 acp kills the body but .50 kills the soul
Remember guys, the threat doesnt know the terrain as well as we do... thats why we mount a .50 on the corridor!

Real men like me own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

Niceee, i have a sword
In confined spaces a smaller weapon is more maneuverable and less visible. If you round a corner and happen to find yourself where the target is within and reach. a shotgun is a disadvantage, it requires more space to draw a controlled aim, and it is also easier for the target to grab the barrel and control it's direction.

Don't use a shotgun for home defense. Politely ask the attacker to let you set up your Maxim Machine Gun.
this video makes no sense, home defense is all about close quarters combat where you would have to be clearing tight corners, you can't do that efficiently with a shotgun without risking being disarmed.
@@CircmcisionIsChi1dAbus3 you can if you use your hacksaw

Sometimes I think US is just a rogue state that got so big that no one messes with them. So they get credibility.
