It would be interesting to see such video from you that includes so much information about every step of taking photo including all your thoughts, doubts and made decisions)
Thomas Heaton Thank you for this link, Thomas! I saw several of these vids and liked them all, especially the one about night photography in London‘s alleys.
Enjoyed the reconstruction of your thought process, gives heart to those of us who find it hard work! Shows what a deliberative thing it is - and it's not about the gear!!!!
A really funny video that shows how often you struggle to find good compositions. Not to mention all the strange thoughts and concerns we all have, such as 'Have I locked the car', etc. Had been great to see more such videos where we are invited into the narrator's reviews of alternative compositions.
the voice over format worked great and then you summed it all up with the last line of dialogue and the whole story fell into place. brilliant. thank you 👍
Thanks so much for sharing your inner monologue as you took the picture. It was so interesting to see your decisions and how you made them. I really loved this style, the way you play with your video making seems so genuine. Thank you again.
Andy's right, it's one of your best and it is so refreshing seeing you using your Olympus in such a natural manner while the blogosphere is getting stupidly mad about new full frame cameras. Don't need that to get inspired do we !?
"Music Choice Dislike: High"--classic! What a fantastic take on the standard vlog format Craig. I've watched every single one of your videos and this one is truly outstanding. I like the voiceover style and wonder why it isn't used more often. I love how you explain the process of the composition. In some of your other vlogs, especially the city/street series, I love how you use the video camera to scan an area that you plan to shoot. It is easy for the viewer to see how you are sizing up a composition leading to a shot, and suddenly "snap" and you have the shot. You are an exceptional photographer. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Jeff
I am glad you talk to yourself. I find your vids so helpful. I used some of your city photographic ideas on a recent visit to Adelaide and they are by far the best city scenes that I have taken.
Excellent video Craig! Your channel is the best. I love that you discuss the feeling of photography and focus on getting the shots in camera and enjoying the landscape! No one out there like you!
We can learn so much from your thought processes. I love how you talk photography in such a natural way, and create a real life understanding of have to create an image. You got some stunning images, absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for the effort that obviously went into making this video.
Another brilliant video from a master landscape photographer who makes it look oh, so easy. thanks, richard hargrove -- It doesn't stop being magic just because you find out how its done. - Terry Pratchett. The Wee Free Men.
Excellent Craig, always enjoy the humour you inject into your films and as others have said, it's great to hear your thought process. Fantastic shot too!
I have just come across you on UA-cam and watched the three lighthouse challenge. I then watched this one and was actually laughing while watching it. Its great to hear what you are thinking and your reasoning behind a shot. It works really well and helps people like me who are fairly new to Photography. Thank you..
Brilliant video. Entertaining and informative. It's really great you explaining your though processes and the procedure to taking that quality of shot.
I subscribe to two landscape photographers, e6 and Thomas Heaton, lovely to see that one photographer can view another's work with as much appreciation as I do. Craig, thank you for this video, very interesting to see a process so well explained.
Top notch vid,fun as well as informative. A delight as usual, great to have you back shooting and posting , bit of a drought on here in Australia so we have plenty of brown grass too.
Cracking good video as usual Craig! Always glad to see I'm not the only one who is painfully self aware about talking to themselves out on location ha ha. -Shane
Hi Craig, I enjoy watching your videos, they are always educational and entertaining. But this one is just priceless. I love your humor! If I was not already a subscriber, I would definitely become one now. Big thumbs up!
Was out and about Craig, saw you had a new video and came home half an hour early in anticipation of a great new video, glad to say you didn’t disappoint. Keep up the good work!
Mate, from watching a few of your other vlog's I knew you were a master of composition. So I was really interested to see what you could pull off on this landscape shoot. Bloody incredible shot, awesome composition. And, to be talked through the whole thought process like that provided great instruction, and was incredibly relaxing to watch...I'm definitely going to be watching more.
So creative and informative. Great walk through with usual humor to keep it even more enjoyable. Also, interesting to note how the different music introductions influenced the mood of the video. Greatly enjoyed, thank you.
First of all brilliant video, its pace and how you talk to the audience is spot on. I haven't got a yardstick to measure from because this is its own yardstick. Now the composition this video nails it on the head I've been so frustrated in the past of taking photos and looking back at them and wondering why they are so bland. So I'm going to try again with this in mind.
Love your terminator-style approach. Can't hurt that it's one of my fav action movie scenes of all time. Brilliantly thought-through and presented 'in real time'. Thanks !
I really like your photography style it is much similar to mine, in the moment as is. I am watching and re watching to learn so much from techniques and look before you leap. Thank you very much
Brilliant! Love your sense of humour. I try to point newer members of my camera club towards good online advice and this fits the bill - this video sums up the basics of Landscape Photography perfectly.
Fine example of the craft behind finding and composing an image and I liked the light better in your first take. I keep worrying if the car is locked too.
Magnificent. Your strongest work in a while. By that I mean the city, Polaroid, black and white content, whilst interesting is not as strong as your ability to teach landscape composition. The humor and down to earth score however is the usual 10/10
Great video Craig. I had to laugh when you kept questioning if you locked your car. I get a couple hundred meters down the trail to realize that I forgot something like a filter holder or shutter remote.
Brilliant! I gave this a thumbs up at the music bit and it just got better from there. But it's also a great lesson on real planning for a shot. A 9 minute master class in setting up a landscape photography every novice should watch. Thanks!
Seeing is a gift. Observing can be an art. The terminator scanner could actually be replaced with a small device that continuously scans the landscape and finds the right composition relative to the current position taking all known pleasure parameters into account - including the weather of course. You will further be able to preset for this or that known landscape photographer's variant of the scene. The trivial searching, observing, thinking tasks are now totally automated. All you have to do is to set up your camera according to the given coordinates and press the release button when you hear the tone. You can sit down and have a nice cup of the/coffee while waiting for the final optimization. Just lift your arm, point the remote control towards your camera and press the button. And so on.
The best & most informative landscape vid on UA-cam. Really enjoyed this and haven't seen anything quite like it before 👍
Here here, between you and e6 I get my landscape fix. Very jealous that I won't be visiting the Matterhorn by the way.
I saw this and thought of you (and +Nigel Danson )!!
It would be interesting to see such video from you that includes so much information about every step of taking photo including all your thoughts, doubts and made decisions)
Thomas Heaton Thank you for this link, Thomas! I saw several of these vids and liked them all, especially the one about night photography in London‘s alleys.
Couldn't agree more. Its just awesome!
Love the way you explained everything and made it look so simple. Whatever it is you have, please bottle and sell it to the rest of us mere mortals.
One of your best, Craig, humorous and cracking talkthrough of your thought process. Cheers.
Enjoyed the reconstruction of your thought process, gives heart to those of us who find it hard work! Shows what a deliberative thing it is - and it's not about the gear!!!!
Really enjoyed this one Craig. Lots of hints and tips and I’m sure most of us recognise the thought processes from our own adventures.
I love how organised your camera bag is!
This is it! The thought process and the decision-making. Gold on video. Thank you!
The most educational 9.33 min of my life. Thanks.
A really funny video that shows how often you struggle to find good compositions. Not to mention all the strange thoughts and concerns we all have, such as 'Have I locked the car', etc. Had been great to see more such videos where we are invited into the narrator's reviews of alternative compositions.
You are the first photographer I've seen NOT following the same format as everyone else. Like it.
Best review ever. Thankyou!
the voice over format worked great and then you summed it all up with the last line of dialogue and the whole story fell into place. brilliant. thank you 👍
It’s snowing outside ,the dogs don’t want to go for a walk and then I turn on the iPad and find a new videos of yours to watch . Happiness !

Thanks for showing another beauty , you certainly have the composition skills required to make something great that others ( myself inc )do not see.
Fine example of the craft behind finding and composing an image and I liked the light better in your first take. I keep worrying if the car is locked too.
Excellent video. Love the gate scene. Very nice final image.

Great to see the subtle day lighting shows how it is experienced by most. Used to do the art if seeing at art school. Great video and picture.
Very informative and most enjoyable

How do you like your travel van? Would love to see a video on your photo excursions using the van.
