So then... How are we feeling about Infinite Season 4? Are you playing Infinite regularly or just waiting on the sidelines for whatever's next for Halo?
**EDIT: Video got copyrighted because I used the Curb Your Enthusiasm credits song at **23:15** - **23:31**, so I've had to replace it with some UA-cam provided copyright-free track. Just imagine the song playing in your head during that section, or even better, play it in another tab!**
not sure to be honest. i just want campaign dlc as thats what started halo, a campaign, not a multiplayer tbh
Just been waiting for the next Halo game since Season 2 and hoping a different developer is behind it.
I personally won't be reinstalling infinite until some sort of expansion to the campaign drops.
soo, I won't be reinstalling infinite :(
HEX it is evident they are slowly chipping away at the storyline and cutscenes in an effort to eliminate our favorite male spartan hero. Look at the paucity of male characters for the games announce at the Microsoft studios showcase specifically that androgynous poc “Fable” character WAFJ. That’s why they are pulling funding and development of Halo in order to virtue signal their inclusivity agenda which no one asked for or wants.
That’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. The amount of resources it takes to write and create those cut scenes, and the stories is pretty much infinitely more than it would take to redesign the shop. That’s beyond stupid or you to say. Come at fan boys and 343 haters. I like him too but that’s stupid as it gets. To say that means our priorities just about selling things and this is evidence of that is ridiculous… that’s like arguing with a spouse and not wanting to repaint the entire house today because you have to replace all the floors and take a 15 minute break to sip some water and they say I thought you didn’t have time to repeat the house, but you have time to just sit there for 15 minutes. Same thing.
It's crazy to me that it took them 2 years to release the most basic game mode. Being optimistic about this content drip is ridiculous. ALL of this content should have been there day one. No excuses for 343's incompetence.
Literally took the words from my brain
FYI I'm not at all optimistic about Halo Infinite, nor am I commending them for finally hitting seasonality 19 months after the game launched, that intro was meant to be satirical lmao
@@HiddenXperia Totally. I just know a lot of people are. You're entire video was spot on.
Idk man, I wasn't particularly in a rush for infection so I don't mind too much personally. Yeah it should have been there at launch, but I kind of liked how they tied it into a "story", and the rest of the update is pretty solid. The maps are great, are beautiful and free, and the battlepass is pretty solid (it's also all free for me because I saved up all the credits I earned back from season 3, which I bought using all the credits from season 2).
It's by no means a ground breaking update, something that will "save the game" or anything like that, but it's more content to enjoy, all for free.
@@HiddenXperia Season 4 will be 4 months long btw
I think the extra confusing thing about the cutting of the seasonal cutscenes is that multiple miners/leakers have said that the cutscenes were seemingly complete, and have been removed.
Such a shame
343 moment
I genuinely 100% fullheartedly believe the cutscenes were the cause of the settings reset and they couldn't figure out why so they removed the cutscenes until they can build out the standalone "Previous Cutscenes" UI in the menus
@@coleG112 that makes too much sense
Just one MORE thing that's been taking away from our beloved franchise.......
@@coleG112yeah, and if they do bring them back later they can be "by popular demand" alongside the game being more stable. So it'll end up getting praised if anything.
You nailed it on the head with the BTB part. It always felt like I was just playing a 12v12 slayer match and not a vehicle focused mode like BTB should be.
Guess you’ve never been farmed by a scorpion then. For some reason, I have a knack for getting matched with teammates who refuse to shoot a tank. As a result, the dude gets 60+ kills 🤷♂️
I left when Season 3 was delayed. I couldn’t wait for 343’s engines to finish revving. I check in with the community every few months and I’m really amazed that you guys stuck around. Absolute legends. I hope you all get the game you deserve.
The stars aligned for halo at launch, the fan base was excited again, call of duty had a terrible game that no one wanted to play, and battlefield had a disastrous launch. Everything was leaning towards halo being the breadwinner that year, and it was for like 2 weeks. Glitches, bugs, delays, no campaign or forge at launch, barely any modes to play besides big team battle. Season content more dry then death valley. 343 had the perfect opportunity to absolutely clean house and re cement themselves into gaming legend and they fucked it up still. This was their second chance and they wasted it. It's not to say the game as a whole is terrible but for a halo game it's not what we were promised.
@@ethanruzic8071Seriously, 343 had all the cards for a great launch, and that sentiment lasted for a whole 2 weeks until people asked "What now?" and they had no answer at all. You couldn't wish for a better release, and it is truly fascinating how one can waste that.
@@Mediados the final straw for me was them firing the campaign team so no more story dlc. And how their big sale's pitch for this new season was infection a year after launch. I'm so tired of holding out hope that it will get better.
@@ethanruzic8071 I mean I was looking forward to the Campaign DLC because not making one after than ending just makes 0 sense. It wasn't even on my mind that they might not make one.
complementing people for hanging on to a lie. thats nice haha
I think it's important to clarify that there is no "cross core coatings". All they did was have a duplicate of every coating for each core in the shop and battlepass.
@@AiyzrcVT it makes an enormous difference. It means that 8 levels of an entire battlepass are reserved for the same single coating.
@@specimendeltaDid you actually see the season 4 showcase? There they said the coatings, emblems and shoulders will all be 1 item now starting on season 5
They baked into the game that each armor core will have a unique coating designated to that core. That's why when you buy one coating, you get duplicates for the other cores. It's not cross core by traditional standards, but it's something. Too bad it's not the same way that visors are actually cross core in the game.
I think the way coatings are done in this game adds potential for some fantastic, dare I say, groundbreaking customization. Imagine being able to select one of the seven "pods" on the default gray coating's icon and press A or left click to access a color menu, which will allow you to give each pod an INDIVIDUAL COLOR.
I believe that this season is okay, the infection game mode is good to have back; however, the "live service" destroyed the hype for other people to share. Time will tell if this game can hold on till next year.
man i just miss shotguns and pistols infected

The state of Halo is legitimately depressing. How Microsoft has allowed this to happen is such a betrayal to the fanbase. I'm constantly at a loss for words. :/
I had to uninstall it, vehicles seems way too weak and pointless, net code still lets me get shot behind walls. It just doesn't feel like halo levels of fun. More of a knock off arena shooter that tried to be like a bungie halo. Idk it just seems boring and there isn't any more halo moments I guess?
Lmfao, players were saying this at launch, crazy how players are still saying this more than a year later yet haven't quit. The playerbase is the only thing stopping Halo from dying, it's quite pathetic how you all continue to let a company manipulate your free time.
This is like the worst timeline of all bad timelines for halo and it legitimately sucks because there is no good alternative to this kind of game :(
What about Halo Master Chief Collection?
Fire343. New studio,new engine,new halo
It’s very unfortunate that they fired most or all of the campaign team. It’s the campaign that brings audiences in and continues with the series all the time, and the fact that they haven’t invested in it I know several people that will not go back to the franchise, because they were disappointing and what they did a story is quite in complete. Felt like destiny one
The campaign didn’t make them money. People barely bought it outside of being a fan because of game pass. The big money maker was supposed to be the shop and we see how that went. They aren’t gonna keep shoveling money into a pit that is the campaign. It’s taking more losses on a game you have already lost so much money on.
@@hardliketissues7463 I know how the business works. But every halo game has gotten patch treatment. If they made a better campaign it wouldn’t be that much of an issue. I don’t care what makes them money and what doesn’t. I care about the over all experience, and I know plenty of people who don’t even want to come back to the series because of it. They just go back to bungie halo. They lose profits by losing their audience. It runs on both sides. And considers how much they have screwed over their audiences in the shop. They lose more. Their real only option for damage control is to improve both sides. Otherwise it’s a tanked product. And it has for awhile. 345 dropped halo out of the top 10 and 20 for years. They sank the flagship. If they only go 50% in they make even less
@@hardliketissues7463I’m so disappointed no further work on the campaign is planned. It had such a solid foundation. New biomes, weapons, vehicles and enemies would have been awesome. Such a terrible waste of potential.
I couldn’t imagine going back in time to 2011 and telling my 11 year old self that after halo CEA things would just go to shit, what a sad loss after loss for such an amazing franchise
"At first it was going well. Then setback after setback..."
@@I-02that opening cutscene for halo wars campaign is so good ain’t even gonna lie it’s my second favorite halo besides 3
Imagine being 11 in 2011
After? CEA was a shit show itself.
It went to shit after Halo Reach. Lol the only “anniversary” edition worth talking about is Halo 2. Halo 3 doesn’t need a remaster and Halo CEA looks like dog shit.
Said I wouldn't play it until I could split screen co-op the campaign and I still stand by that. Having friends over and now sharing with my son has been some of the best moments I've had. Not every game needs everyone to own their own console and TV.
Then you will never play this game cuz they droped the splitscreen thing entirely.
@alexbrinzan9061 Honestly for the best at this point
You actually cannot do the custom game workaround anymore for setting up splitscreen BECAUSE when you click on campaign now, it actually has to load its own main menu, separate from Custom Games/Forge/Matchmaking now. Which means as of Season 4, splitscreen in Infinite is dead (unless they decide to finally finish bringing this back at a later date, don't expect it though).
@@alexbrinzan9061 honestly a good thing, he shouldnt touch this excuse of a halo game
I never understand why 343 does not add an updated version of Blood Gulch or Sand Trap. The most classic BTB maps. Players would love to see that in the rotation.
Honestly! If Black ops can remake nuke town every game halo can remake maps too
Because it’s about releasing what should be main release content on a drip to trick idiots that still support that corporate shill of a game into spending more money on the battle pass for dumb shit. Die hard infinite fans are literally just CoD fans now. They don’t care about the bare minimum effort as long as you put enough hype behind it.
Sand trap is ass other than elephants that map blows
@@FrostedRapsWhatever you say. Still my favourite all time map besides blood gulch.
@@FrostedRapsit’s about the open space not to mention all the videos filmed on that map
It's dope that 343 really listens to it's fanbase and what they want, then ignore it and give us some more coatings.
fr, its like they meticulously curate and analyze the fanbase's thoughts and know exactly what not to do
I love how it was stated multiple times that armor coatings this season would be used for every core. What they didn't tell us we still have to earn or buy each one individually. The weekly reward was a armor coating for the mark VII. Then during the event you can get the same armor coating for the hazmat. So I'm assuming the new few weeks we will have to option to get the same one for other cores. Also the battlepass is super spread out because you add the same 2 armor coatings like 8 times each. So you can pad out the battlepass with useless stuff. If you earn a coating it should work for all armors. I shouldn't have to earn the same coating 8 times. That is insane. If you earn a shoulder pad. It should work for both shoulders. If you earn a emblem. Is should work for your armor, weapon, and vehicle emblems as well. Stop padding out your battlepasses with repeate items most people won't even use. They sold the battlepass as 160+ items. But if you break it down. It's literally like 40 things just being repeated throughout the whole pass. It's trash. In my opinion this was the worst battlepass they have sold us. And are just getting more greedy as time goes on.
On Steam Halo Infinite peaked at roughly 8200 during this update and it fell back to 4500 in less than 2 days.
Not really true though is it because we haven’t seen it at tonight’s peak. It’s pretty normal for gamers to come together for updates and then just casually experience it from then on in their free time. It’s not indicative of a low active population.
@@DangerVille Assuming that’s true, and it isn’t an accurate representation of the player base, it’s still staggering low.
Every mainline Bungie* halo game had hundreds of thousands of concurrent players even a year after launch. Infinite’s numbers are weak at best.
@synth8519 agreed, I wonder if they will even continue with updates after season 5 or 6
@@HG51_ Not sure it would matter, they’re barely keeping the lights on at this point. 343’s systemic incompetent leadership has dragged the franchise down since they inherited it.
Nothing can change as long as the leadership at 343i doesn’t, to reiterate-the developers are doing their job, it’s these out of touch decisions which have caused such damage.
In summary, even if they do, they can’t fix what they’ve broken.

Reply 5,
You are spitting facts like always.
Also nice to hear a waterworks reference. Such an awesome Halo 2 btb map. Probably the most underrated btb in the franchise.
The new unlockable weapon variations look cool... they really should have been the rewards for the progression system
As usual, 343 is adding the bare minimum for features that have been far superior in previous games from almost two decades in the past.
Kudos to you for hitting the nail on the head with this update.
Infection and Forge are better than any previous game. So how do previous games have them 'far superior '?
@@ia285 infection is not better than previous infection. different sure but not flat out better. and forge being better doesnt really matter when you have to wait, what was it 12 months for it to come out? not to mention didnt they not even have a custom games browser until like a month back?
@@spoonsrattling how are previous infection modes better?
And sure, we waited 12 months for Forge. Infinite Forge is still better than previous iterations of it.
@@ia285 I'll admit forge is one of the very few victories from 343. That said, it's a bit hollow given how incredibly long it took to come out.
Still, I think 343 actually nailed forge and also the general feel of the game, the way it plays.
I'm just so constantly overwhelmed by their almost countless failures, lies, etc, that I have difficulty appreciating the few things they did right.
@@ia285 That doesnt make it acceptable.
25:32 Even MCC did it better than Infinite did, the MCC Passes at least allowed the player to choose what order they unlock the items on each line of 10 tiers.
I was baffled when they had so many incredible systems built for MCC (battle pass, challenges, playlists, etc) and then they just…ignored all of it lol
I don’t know if that’s better though. I unlock the things I want first, then everything else feels like a chore, I don’t want to select stuff I don’t want to use. At least the battle pass feels like a progression system where we have something to work towards.
@@DangerVillehow does your comment make sense to you?? You are literally saying you are okay with unlocking useless stuff that you won't put on your Spartan simply because the progression system works like a straight line versus MCC where you pick what you want first 🤦🏾
@@DangerVille this comment made zero sense, they're both battle passes, MCC jus lets u pick any reward within the 10 tiers u want first whereas Infinite doesnt, its a 'Pick your Poison' type of thing

Its really upsetting to me that they removed the story part of the multiplayer experience, having a wider context for the events happening in the multiplayer was awesome and seeing your spartan do stuff for the first time since reach was cool. makes me sad to think that we wont be getting that anymore
I agree about them needing to have way more open BTB maps. We need more blood gulch like maps. Excited for the Avalanche remake that they're cooking rn
I really liked the flood theming in H2A infection. To me, they nailed it back then and for H5 I hated that green effect... This banished theme is all right but I can only think that they avoided the flood theme in favor of the stupid T rating 😔
Yea definitely they avoided the flood for the T-Rating.
Fun fact, the main reason why many halo games were rated M was because of the Flood itself!
It wouldn't make any difference here

No excuse for them getting Infection out this late. That said, I am having a lot of fun with it. I think it is very well balanced, the lack of ammunition discourages camping, and the ammo/weapons around the map encourage moving. I would agree that the turrets are a little OP. I was last man standing and have unlimited ammo with a turret. I racked up 21 kills as last man in that one life. So while it was fun, it was definitely overpowered. I love the maps though!
Exactly my thoughts. I also wish the infected couldn’t go invisible too
Their excuse was probably the management change, Microsoft, Infection not being the only thing they were working on. And the reason it didn't pump out before hand we can all obviously assume it was because of Bonnie ross being Bonnie ross.
Very excited for the Marathon vids. I just beat Colony Ship last night and it only took me like 3 days.
It's definitely an update. Having career ranks definitely helps with retention, but the lack of good rewards for doing so kind of kills it. Also add to the fact that crashing on Xbox is common now, menus still dont load, de-sync still exists, still no cross core, etc. it's hard to commend most of the positives when the game is still plagued with issues present since launch. Also, no PVE MP content for almost 2 years sucks as well since the PVE in Infinite is fun as hell. I'd love to hop into a match with a few other friends and kill some Banished as our Spartans, but I guess we'll have to wait for Firefight hopefully later this year.
It's unfortunate, cause the game is fun to play, but so much just sucks out the incentive to play.
I feel ya on that. This used to be my go-to franchise for Multiplayer. But with how badly they’ve fumbled this ball, I go months between sessions.
Apparently there’s gonna be a good max rank reward, so maybe halo infnite chief or haunted helmet, but maybe I’m wrong so take this with a grain of salt
I still dont get how Halo hasnt legitimately tried to put a big emphasis on PvE. Especially now with how fun the campaign enemies are to fight. Halo has the most entertaining first person shooter PvE and yet the most multiplayer PvE we've ever had is Reach firefight and H5 warzone. Thats a big fumble for the franchise imo
@zero1487,
If they'd bring back firefight at least...but they'd have to build new maps, new coding, and that'll take them years so I highly doubt it'll come to Infy at all
@@anthonycarlisle6184 Yea I highly doubt anything like that will happen for infinite, at least not in any well done way. I just think it's wasted potential to not plan some in depth PvE in the very beginning of making a new Halo
Desync and Day One bugs make Infection a rage fest when it's in your face 90% of the time. From shots not registered or registering late, to melees not going through, to melees not lunging....
This mode is fun, but 343 took 18 steps back without fixing their DAY ONE ISSUES for a gamemode that's heavily reliant on perfect hit registration.
I’m sorry, but I’ve been playing this game since day 1 and I’ve experienced desync like ten times tops, and it crazes me how so many people talk about desync being so prominent
Edit: at this point idk anymore, either way they should fix it for you guys
@@ventris425productions5 I have about 4 or so hours of video content of bug deaths, desync taking place (60% of the files in the folder) and really questionable and ABUSEBLE glitches. I don’t think they’re getting rid of the narrative, I think it’s just the cutscenes- I’ve heard leaks and rumors around the infected AI Spartans leading to the Banished finding the training facility which leads to firefight (though take that with a big grain of salt)
I would hope that it leads to that. It would be rlly cool to expand the training ground and having it fit the narrative as well.
You gave me more hope than 343 rn

@@dovahfett5919 I don’t blame you lol
I'm standing with the act man, until 343 can make good on their promise which is split screen coop then I'm not playing.
For the new BTB map, it's only that *that* specific map is hyper-infantry focused. The other BTB maps all have classic (or at least, far better) vehicle spawns now.
Also, your rank is displayed on the screen of everyone you kill.
The Translocator was always a great tool in the heyday of Unreal Tournament.
A skilled player could invade an enemy base, drop a translocator puck somewhere out of sight, steal the flag, claim a point, then immediately teleport back to steal the flag again while the enemy team was still recovering.
And, if you were very lucky, you would telefrag one of them as well.
If they are bringing in UT gadgets then they should have imported the Vengeance Sphere rather than using the Threat Sensor from previous Halos.
Does the portal even stay open long enough for you to do that?
I feel you so much man. Lore and campaign has always been my priority over multiplayer. This is what hooked me into the franchise. First hit was when i finished infinite, because it was only the beginning for DLC and multiple aspects of the game had to be implemented (in game meteorology, ray tracing, coop, replay mission, ...). Second hit was when they fired the entire campaign team, so the main story would likely get 0 resolution and no DLC. Last hit is this news for the multiplayer narrative. I mean i don't like the story at all, but at least it was there. Now that it is gone, there is only dust and echoes of all that Halo universe potential. I feel sad for Halo as a franchise, but the work done on MCC and the modding tools kinda redeems this sad situation. I am enjoying Halo Rebalanced from Ruby of Blue, and will try Halo 2 Uncut. We have a golden community, at least 🥰
Oh yeah,

The Community is now the bearers of Halo. MS just makes 343i corporate-fiction
@@anthonycarlisle6184 The corporate spirit does not fit this franchise. 'member Halo 2's documentary ? Passion meant something at the time.
I also gravitate more to the campaign side of things rather that the multiplayer. I’ve got a question for you. How would you have written halo 4 or the entire story after halo 3 if you were given the chance? I know the community can do better than 343 so I’m just curious what people can come up with.
@@zackwerth77 it is hard to say, tbh i think chief story should have ended with H3. H4 has too much great ideas but a poor execution. If i had to rewrite H4 : The alien faction would me more fleshed out, either the banished or a new faction that still believes the prophets (very extremely religious, even more than the covies) as they would be the major new ennemy of this new trilogy. Maybe an intro cinematic with Arbiter defending the Ark versus this new ennemy to introduce them and some piece of context? I'd keep Requiem, Infinity and the Prometheans. Less characters but more involved with the story (palmer and cie are useless), maybe Arbiter came on the infinity ? I would keep Cortana's rampancy for H5 or H6, even if i would setup it in H4. Didact would either never show up to remain monolythic (forerunners have to be) or it would be H4 last levels (didact wakes up just like the Flood : the banished or the extremist faction wake him up but it goes wrong very quickly). The last mission would be a battle for the recomposor as it was a major plot from H4. I would get rid of the librarian BS cinematic that made little to no sense. I would get rid of the ridiculous behavior of Infinity crew and none of them would disrespect chief whatsoever because he saved every humans ass. The game ends with Chief/Arby/Infinity blowing the recomposor and winning a small battle to the Didact. But the legendary ending teases us : The didact want to use the Guardians and take back the mantle of responsability. And once again, the didact has to be monolythic. If it is a 2 arms 2 legged creatures that speak english, it kinda alter the aura built from first trilogy. Or at least it has to say very cool stuff (sovereign in Mass effect is a good example). That's roughly my ideas for a H4 ..
@@zobizobstudio Pretty good. I’d have the didact keep his armor on until halo 5 or 6 where it’s revealed that he and all forerunners are human, as originally intended.
The new equipment is really great honestly, rather than a run away option i use it aggressively, go in as close as i can and teleport away, then teleport back and back smack everyone, great tool in the right hands honestly
What they can do for the shotgun is use the weapon combination system. Combine the bulldog and the heatwave in order to retain the one-shell tension from the older titles.
Honestly, Scarr reminds me more of Sullust from EA's first Battlefront game. The skyline is bluer and less hostile-looking, and there's a lot more rocky terrain with imo less lava than Mustafar has.
Once again emphasizes my disdain for their BTB map design, as a big BTB fan. Its worse because I like Stockpile, but I like the old BTB of big mixed battles of vehicles and infantry
I think the new season is pretty okay. I agree that having Iratus talking so much is annoying as hell. But at the end of the day, it feels like this game just barely left early access. And they really need to bring back the old shotgun. And the plasma rifle, spiker, and smg while they're at it.
I love the Iratus and Jeff lines for Infection, it makes it feel so cool and unique
Love the runescape music in your video!
I do hope that if we see the Flood return in the future the future we get to see some of the Hazmat spartans in action fighting the infection. That would cool as hell.
EDIT: Still pissed at the lack of new weapons. Four seasons and 2 years in and we still have no spiker, brute shot, plasma rifle, fuel rod gun, smg, railgun, spartan laser, plasma launcher, magnum, or classic shotgun.
Flood would be epic to see, just not by 343. I don't want to have another classic element ruined by them
One MAJOR problem of balance that I have recently found in Infection is the equipment that is scattered around the map, specially the invisibility and overshield. The respawn time of these things is just ridiculous, most of them being only 40 seconds or even less. Last night I found myself just going from the overshield respawn to the invisibility one in Chasm and I swear as soon as one of them got depleted I just had to go back for it at its original location. I even got a friend of mine to try out and at one moment both of us had overshield, haha.
I mean, It's cool to have some equipment, but this respawn timing just kills the adrenaline of trying to survive. Hope 343 could fix this.
When your say they didn't have the resources to continue the story but did have resources to redesign the store, not trying to excuse 343 for dropping the story, but I guarantee that the skill set necessary to redesign the UI of a store doesn't intersect all that much with the skill set necessary to write a story and then creating cutscenes to tell it. The number of people involved will also be very different
Its crazy how custom games is just dead, you would think it would be very populated because of how powerful forge is. I thought forge would revive the game cause we can literally add anything we want to the game and don't have to wait for 343 to add it themselves.
I haven’t played since season 2, but I think I’ll give this a try. I don’t plan on playing infection. I left because of the lag, getting shot through walls, etc. I’m hoping that’s improved. I’ve been a huge fan since CE and got 152 in H5 and Inheritor in Reach. Hopefully I can get to enjoying it again.
Dude it was the worse I’d always get out Br even after I would pull the trigger for last shot and it would show my screen and I would die, getting shot behind walls like 0.75 secs after I would go behind it
nope it's still the same, maybe worse. getting shot through walls, hits not registering despite shields flaring, and getting ninjad by an enemy completely in front of me have been my experience with this update.
Haven't experienced any problem with those more than hitting somebody and not registering once since the update came out so it's not as bad (I play on Xbox One S and with a decent Internet connection).
And damn dude, you go to the final ranks on every game, respects
Unfortunately the Desync is still there. That’s the MAIN reason I stopped also. Came back and it’s just as bad as ever. Gonna stop again and wait till they fix it.
I'm really disappointed that they are leaving the story behind. Just being able to see everyone's cool Spartans in these nice cutscenes was cool.
I think it's a good thing they dropped it. A complete waste of resources for something that is already nonsensical because "it's cool to see your Spartan in a cutscene"
I'd much prefer those resources be put toward something useful.
@@theincrediblefella7984 As much as I hate to say it, a cutscene that amounts to "oh no! a threat! go play multiplayer" does actually work to get people into multiplayer
Whoop, whoop, this is straight garbage. Halo as a service was the last nail on a HUGE coffin. Just another BS multi variation. I give 343 NO brownie points for anything they come out with for this once epic game. They killed it out of greed and participating in these shitty releases just perpetuates this. Anything less than a viable campaign with a well made plot is unacceptable. Halo is dead....period!
@@theincrediblefella7984 id prefer the resources not be squandered... but that's a 343 issue not an issue with the cutscenes.
they had the rigging more or less done, they coulda kept everyone's helms on to save resources/time... they didn't and still crafted a shit story.
they are slow and ineffective... as well as pretty stupid with misplaced priorities.
@@tTaseric Oh yeah I'm not denying that, and the cutscenes were pretty cool in my opinion. I just am glad that the time invested in those cutscenes can now be put to work pumping out content and fixes.
While im not happy that its taken this long to get infection into the game, i am intrigued that 343 has the game mode tied into a narrative. Actually made me play halo again for a few days.
Overall. Good update. They def fixed some bugs as well. Infection is a refreshing take on a classic game type. I reeeeally wish they’d do grifball again. They need better armor idea tho, as you said. Overall a very good video and a good take on stuff. I never thought of the linear style armor unlocks but you are very right about it!
The one thing giving me hope for Infinite’s comeback is knowing that the MCC revival team now at the helm of the game. Those guys know what they’re doing. Next things we need imo are a UI overhaul, player cards, and customization revamp. This update won’t save the game, but it’s a solid start to what may be a better future.
I refuse to give this company any more chances. As long as 343's in the helm Halo will stay as a cash cow milked dry by Microsoft.
@@isaaclai1636 They should give it to the people who make Gears of War instead.
@@isaaclai1636I'm at this point aswell.
The second I'd heard that the campaign team were laid off and Joe Staten had left, I uninstalled Infinite and gave 343 the middle finger.
I went from defending the game to knowing that the franchise is resoundly dead, and it seems like Microsoft are happy that it is.
@@isaaclai1636 I totally get that. We’ve been playing this same stupid song and dance for over ten years now, it’s exhausting. But as far as I’m concerned, with all the new leadership and staff changes, 343 could very well be a difference company altogether now. When I look at the MCC, all I can think is how smooth and player-friendly it is, and I just hope that team can work their magic again. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna be an active player or anything, but it does make me wanna wait and see from a distance.
@@HawaiianForgeStudios lmao they are in the same boat.
Hey 343, since you have abandoned the live service narrative "to continue focusing on highly requested features and *content" THEN WHY THE FUCK DONT YOU HIRE A PROPER SINGLE PLAYER TEAM AND MAKE ANYTHING THAT CONTINUES HALO INFINITES CAMPAIGN!? I THINK THATS BEEN PRETTY HEAVILY REQUESTED CONTENT!(
Yooo those Spartans in forge are just insulting
I've always thought that the classic shotgun and bulldog would work just fine with each other in the sandbox.
Hey! I haven’t even started the video and yet I can tell it’s going to be, dare I say, ICONIC. Love your vids Luke! Keep up the great work been subbed since quite a long while ago and always enjoy your vids!
Appreciate it chief, hope you enjoy!
I genuinely do believe there are incredible talents in the 343 team just sadly corporate ways and modern gaming tarnishes this, with Xbox having so much studios under their roof I never understood why they never thought to get them to assist in infinite
I feel you. I just want 343 to work on a different game. Make anything else but halo. I generally wanna see what game they would make
Unlockable armour, assassinations, better servers/netcode, Halo 3/Reach-like ranks, better UI/faster UI and Infinite was a gold mine. Took 343 WAY too long to implement core features of Halo that came on launch on nearly all the previous titles.
I took a hiatus during season 3 due to a number of game breaking bugs (menu & UI not loading properly, settings constantly getting reset, and forge being near unusable despite working just fine through the winter update)
Season 4 seems to be off to a good start though. Forge and custom games are the main reason i still play Halo, and it's nice to see *some* of the population back in the CG browser. But aside from all the cosmetics, these are all features that should have been at launch anyways.
I think the blame should be put on Microsoft for the cut seasonal story, they were the ones who decided to go through all the firings in the first place and now 343i is more or less a skeleton crew. Obviously allowing more people to join and/or help out 343i would remedy that but I think Microsoft has just abandoned Halo and left 343i to pick up the pieces.
It IS Microsoft, why does nobody ever bring this up or talk about it. It all starts with Microsoft at the end of the day. 343 still hardly has anybody. They simply don’t care anymore (Microsoft)
@@thirtyred7091 If I had to guess, some people don’t know any better/didn’t do enough research on the subject or they just have a raging hate boner for 343i because “343i bad”. I’m assuming Luc is part of the former group though.
Just waiting for campaign content or a new game
Not gonna be for almost a decade.
Love the new theming in Infection and all the new UI looks and sounds. The Iratus effects are so cool. The new music is also bad ass. Nee Sword is awesome too
Do you earn battle pass xp faster now? I quit in season 2 and I remember after like 10 matches I was getting only 50xp a game. Is that still the case?
They changed the challenge system in Season 3 I believe.
To summarise the changes:
Match XP is now a thing. Different modes offer differing amounts of base XP. (ie. BTB will always give at least 250xp, etc)
Performance XP is now a thing. (50xp for being MVP, 50xp for being top half of team, 50xp for winning, etc)
Owning the battlepass gives you an extra 100xp per match.
There is now only 1 daily challenge that offers 500xp, rather than a bunch that scale down.
Challenges offer slightly less XP than they used to (although they're far easier and simpler to complete).
You can grind the entire pass in a few days with bot bootcamp, assuming they don't nerf it.
@@tTaseric well i'll be. that sounds far better than what we had. thank you for letting me know
Great vid and that bill bur/ Breaking bad bit was top notch ahah cheers
Something I've been more or less bothered by is why they haven't put the new equipment and weapons into the campaign sandbox, I actually really like the bandit rifle myself just annoying it can't be used
that would of been great, but it seems they dont give a fuck about campaign at all and that is all I play. sucks.
@@rm25088 fr I love playing through the campaigns seeing some updates to both the core game and pve would be incredible. Shame it'll likely never happen
@@reavingmango5084 Yeah it really sucks. Such a waste.
Played a lot of season 3 but had no interest in season 4. I haven't updated it on my PC yet. My xbox auto updated this week.
As for the video. I agree with pretty much everything presented. Specifically I'm excited about the arena map. I also really agree with the BTB map design critique. BTB maps rarely leverage the sandbox well anymore.
What I didn't know because I don't use forge is that prop spartans have the classic customization settings available. That blew my mind. It's so sad to see.
Overall the update looks good. I'm likely going to play it at some point, but I'm so engrossyin Street Fighter 6 at this point that I don't have a lot of interest in Halo especially considering I don't want to grind ranked like I normally do. I hit Onyx enough and it gets dry.
This season will come and go, and even though I think the game is charting in a positive direction overall, I really think that the circumstances of it's release really crippled this game. They should have held it till March 2022. The release has just made the teams job so much harder. I really commend their efforts.
What I don't fucking understand is why they keep removing Team Snipers/Ranked Snipers from the playlist. Out of all the game modes, this is a crucial mode. Goddamn 343.
I’ve never understood why infection doesn’t just give the last survivor like “survive 30 seconds to win,” but when they win it just plays out until they die in an “overtime” round.
As far as weapon models go, I'd like to see the MA5B, the M90, and the M6D. Especially with their classic weapon reload animations.
As you said, this season just adds things that should have been in the game at launch. Therefore, this season is just completely meh to me. I've never liked Infection.
I'll probably put more time into the game when PVE/Firefight is added. I just wish they'd give us cross-core helmets and coatings already. The CQB helmet on Mark VII, with the Silent Snow coating. Not too much to ask for.
I personally like the design of the ranks. It's not something I think too much about. However, they should be on your nameplate at all times, like they are in the main menu. You should always be able to display your rank to other players. The only thing that would be worth the time to grind for max/Hero rank would be Mark VI [GEN 3].
I’m not impressed with the game as a whole, it would take a lot to bring me back. But one thing I do like to see is that the artists and designers look like they’re having a fun making maps. They both look really good, a step up from anything 343 have released previously.
if halo infinite did one thing right it was the art, just across the board. it really felt like all of the criticisms of Halo 4 and 5's art styles were taken into account and they did some really cool things with the art in infinite. its just a shame that nearly every other aspect of the game couldn't deliver as well as the art team did
The cinematic are part of what brought me back. I wanted to see where it was going.
I never stopped playing, been grinding since day 1. I agree with most everything your speaking on, especially with customization. I do think that with the narrative they might do something with the events to wrap up the story... I hope
I think it's a solid season overall. As far as the cutscenes and narrative goes, I had the thought that maybe any narrative that goes on after this could be part of the game/mode CA has been working on? I expect that to be something more like a mix of PvE narrrative and PvEvP warzone modes. Also about getting rewards in the progression system, I suppose they could go in and add more stuff in the future. At least it sounds like Hero rank will get something.
I just finished watching Installation 00's rant about Halo Infinite's lack of lore and saw you posted this video 22 seconds ago.
I had just wondered if you had made a sort of "reply" to that video, as I believe that it is a very important topic to touch on. I understand you might not want to post a video with a negative connotation, but I feel it needs to be talked about more, especially with the campaign being thrown away the way it was.
I no longer have any interest in playing the game because of all the complex levels of poor-management the game suffers from, please consider? =)
Won't be making a reply video because I've kinda talked about that topic in a few videos before and don't really wanna sit here making repeat negative vids since they really aren't enjoyable nor fulfilling to make, but I've watched that vid of his twice now and he's absolutely bang on with everything he says
I second this comment this needs to be brought up.
One nice thing they snuck in with this season is they added the rest of the missing basic coatings now (pink, purple, etc) so now we have a full range of basic color coatings
You still remain one of my favorite halo content creators. Your so far the only one who hasn't gave into the mess that 343i began along with a few others. You remain critical but cautiously optimistic which are great traits in the current space. Keep it up, ill be waiting with you for halo infinite to get better.
343 releasing season 4 three months after season 3 is like MCR releasing a new Album…
(Please Gerard)
I refuse to believe all the theming they had at their live shows tied in with the themes of apocalypse in Foundations is for nothing, they HAVE to be working on a new album, I'm convinced
Fantastic video, and some very well put takes honestly. Lame season because like you said, there's no getting excited for me when they're only adding things that should have been there in the first place. Maybe in 2 more years it'll actually have added new things, but I'm not holding my breath for the servers even still being active at that point lol.
I had no idea there were so many downsides to this update as there are such as the live service storyline being axed... I only heard the good stuff about us finally getting infection and the new maps really so I was very excited. I'm still glad that the game is moving more in the right direction than ever before, but it goes to show that it's going to take a long while to get to a truly good state.
The temple you had that was huge looks almost just like the jedi temple on yavin 4 in star wars
Don't think the classic shotty would work in this infection, given how fast the infected move. You'd be dead before you can reload most of the time.
So don’t give them a speed boost???
There's a narrative event scheduled next week, which may have some more narrative to it. We'll have to wait and see. The wording of cancelling the narrative specifically says no more narrative cutscenes, not cancelling the narrative all together. This means there's a possibility more narrative will still happen in another way, maybe something like they do in destiny.
Define "like Destiny". Because tgey continue their narrative via cutscenes. You only learn background information via the codes.
@@re1010 no, they tell a lot of the story over coms, in bounties, or even just at the tower. Destiny only more recently began producing more cutscenes for their seasonal content, and much of the story is told outside cutscenes. Yes, Infinite doesn't have the tower or bounties, but even just some audio recordings between characters could be used to tell the story. Also, we don't know if the cutscenes means the CGI one like we got at the beginning of season 3, or the in-game ones we get with our spartan, or both. But there are ways to continue the narrative without cutscenes.
When it comes to determining statements from 343, my rule of thumb has been to interpret the worst possible situation.
I'm rarely let down or proven wrong. Narrative content won't be continuing, it's time to move on from this game, and the franchise in general. It's well and truly dead at this point.
@@jimjam7928 I'm not getting my hopes too high but it is a possibility. Like I said, we'll see.
I mean it's still got some great gameplay, and is fun to play. If you think it's dead that's fine, but let people enjoy things.
@@jimjam7928 there will still be narrative stuff, but it'll still be very underwhelming from consumer point of view.
Dude i love your MCR shirt!!!!!! I saw them at Riot Fest not too long ago because they came back and it was amazing!
I don't know about anyone else but every time I install season 4 or 3 or whatever it is, freezes on me or it installs it then claims that it's not there
Maybe the 10 year plan was in reference to how long it takes them them to add the smallest of sandbox additions.
By year 8 Im sure we will have the Assassinations Beta with year 9 being the mid-game lobbies Beta
I heard there might even be campaign splitscreen in year 10.
Can’t wait for the Grifball Alpha in season 9
I think what bothers me most about this Season is how lackluster and barebones this progression system is after ALL THIS TIME. What bothers me far more than the lack of rewards in the progression system that everyone talks about though is that fact that its not retroactive. So the last 19 months of the game, over a year and a half account for nothing with this system. The problem there is that this completely nullifies the ENTIRE POINT of a rank system. The system should be there so you can see how much time and/or how skilled someone is at the game. However this not accounting the last NINETEEN MONTHS prior to its implementation means that you can have someone with over 3000 hours in the game all prior to S4 who is a lower rank than someone with only 10 hours in the game. It fails at its MAIN job. It doesn't tell me how much someone has played this game, it tells me how much someone has played this game after a certain point...which is useless especially when no one is even playing this damn game anymore.
Can confirm im one of those that haven't come back since launch and dont regret my decision.
What game mode has the 2 new maps ?
I like that weapon model idea. They could even call it the "Memory Lane" bundle or something with the halo ce ar, halo 2 br, halo 3 sr and shot gun
Also is it me or should 343 really hire Luke seriously like a lot of the things he says I agree with almost 100%. 343 need to hire more people that are dedicated halo fans that know like every aspect of the game.
That'll never happen because it goes against 343's whole job criteria which from the companies very inception was to hire people that actually don't like Halo, lol.
@@Jaymez2012 hard to argue against that lmao
@@Jaymez2012 Thats extremely old and outdated news.

@@Jaymez2012Wasn’t that company motto more than 10 years ago for the production of halo 4? I’m sure things have changed by now.
If it wasn't abundantly clear before, Microsoft/343 would never hire Hidden because they simply don't CARE about what he or you or I think about Halo Infinite.
Season 3 definitely got me to look at infinite again and play a bit more often but Season 4 so far has had me playing almost daily again and that’s a feeling that I’m genuinely happy about. The new team at 343 definitely deserves a chance I just really really hope they don’t drop the ball. They fixed MCC so my hopes are moderately high rn. Here’s to the future of Halo
I’m in the same boat as I’m playing the game again. While I’m salt at the launch and how the store has been. They have lessoned the grind of finishing the BP and making challenges easier to complete. As a burnt out Destiny 2 main Halo Infinite is a nice option compared to other games like Overwatch 2
Massive respect on your opinion (or lack thereof) on the quantum translocator thingy.
That breaking bad reference worked perfectly lol
For me, one of the things I think 343 have been doing wrong is the fact that they are making a game that traditionally wasn't competitive from the start. It was built for casual in mind but gave the options for people to play competitive.
Lmao you must be young halo 3 always been a part of Esport MLG????
As much as i hate that they have abandoned the live service narrative, its unfair to compare making full-on cutscenes, with voice-acting, motion-capture, understaffed animating, coloring and designing, to simply just redesigning a Shop Menu....of course thats easier! Just a few code strokes to a menu and they are done! Plus, thats definitely their only source of income now. That fails, Halo actually dead.
The amount I’ve heard “ like halo 3 or reach or 4 “ we as halo fans need to leave the past behind bc they will not give us that back
I would absolutely love if they just remade sidewinder in infinite. Or any kind of btb winter map. I wanna see my vehicles with snow on them again. A winter environment would be a great break between the maps made with the campaign environment
I wish I could support 343i but as a fan of halo I am done making excuses for their failures. I swore off any new halo until they release a game that is complete day 1. I've been loving MCC though.
Good luck with that
There's no possible way I would ever go back to halo. As much as I want to I don't see the point.
It’s crazy how dead bodies in forge have more colour customisation than us
