Oh I wish that I would of known about this kickstarter when it was going. This game looks great and one that I have to add to my want list. Thanks for the great video.
I saw the kickstarter, but at $113 (with shipping cost) to get access to the stretch goals it was a little high for what I usually pay for games. They did give a ton of stuff in the stretch goals so I can understand that part. Now I'm sad I didn't support it after I keep hearing so many positive comments.
Tom, with all good intentions i think you should either take this review down or make a follow up video. Reasons: -The retail version has a horrible rulebook and you guys say it's well written(even if it has now reached version 2.0,it was not the case then) -It has several unfinished quest chains and cards that refer to things that are not even in the box -It simply does not have enough minis for the quests and modes that are featured in the game. Result:A very inadequate and pretty expensive game that lures you into buying extra stuff just to complete the included quests. It's like you played an entirely different game. Why didn't i hear any of that in your review?
The fact that the game doesnt include everything in the box needed to play is a grievous sin when it comes to board gaming. An incomplete game that is intended to force you to buy expansions to complete what should of been complete right out of the box is a big time problem and it is sad that the Dice Tower review doesn't mention any of these issues as they received a kickstarter copy and were taught the rules rather than be forced to learn them by reading the terribly formatted and worded rulebook. Myth is one of the worst games out of the box Ive ever seen. Myth is a 2 out of 10 because it's incomplete.
It's too bad too because this game features some interesting mechanics but I could never recommend this to someone in even the slightest. Just stick to Descent or maybe check out the recently released Dungeon Saga for all of your dungeon crawling needs.
I backed this, and am looking forward to getting it! One thing you didn't mention, which was a major consideration for me in spending this much money on a game, was the representation of women. Each of the heroes is depicted in both male and female variants (on Kickstarter we got minis for both), and the female characters are wearing actual clothes. Not bikinis. (I have nothing against bikinis, I just really don't think they're good dungeon exploring wear). So, yay to the Myth guys for treating the female characters like people!
Thanks so much for the review guys. I kickstarted it and am eagerly awaiting it. I only backed two games last year, Deadzone and this and it seems both are great games.
I know it's getting increasingly hard to get a copy but I would really love to hear how you guys feel about this game after 4 years and all the Kickstarter shenanigans that happened with Journeyman. Here you seem to like the game very much but you never mention it in any video after this... Do you still like it?
I usually enjoy you guys reviews but I agree this needs rerated. I would pay 100 bucks for what came in the kickstarter package but I see no reason to drop several hundreds of dollars to obtain the same game sans many kickstarter exclusives. It seems like they intentionally setup the game to only sell to backers and then server no purpose to buy. Shame looks pretty fun.
the company that makes this game has just put another game on kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/1700755582/mercs-recon?ref=discovery and there are some characters in the stretch goals that have rules for using in myth
The miniatures are that good because the company that made this game is originally a miniatures game company. mercsminis.com. And probably explains why the rules appear heavy as you would find in a miniatures game.
This game sounds really cool. Is it true though that 2 of the 8 character classes (the Trickster and the Spriggan) are only available to Kickstarter backers? If so then that's... a bit much. I am all for rewarding backers of at-risk projects, but this seems like it shoots wayyyyy past the line. You want to reward backers without making other consumers feel like they're missing 25% of the game. Please by all means correct me if what I read about those Kickstarter-only classes is wrong, incidentally!
The Trickster is KS exclusive. The Spriggan is too, but they are going to release a Druid which is basically the same exact class. So the only difference should be the miniature.
hatchhermit77 Ah, so an alternate figure for the druid and one extra class, gotcha. And presumably extra bad guy figures, some promo cards, deluxe components. That definitely seems more reasonable for Kickstarter bonuses. Thanks!
To extend on what's been said, thanks to gameplay-continuity considerations, some things are likely to be available through future kickstarter campaigns too. The biggest thing for the backers is that we're getting 3 times as much stuff straight off, rather than paying in gold bars later.
My only complaint about the game is that there's a lot of text on cards and (unforgivably) in the rulebook that's typeset in Flyspeck 3, and well nigh unreadable. Other than that, it's become a favourite.
Comes down to your specific desires, I'd imagine, and the specifics of your gaming group. If you have sci-fi junkies in your group, then Level 7:OP is a no-brainer. If your group is full of fantasy junkies, then Myth is the obvious answer. As we said, though, there is a huge and necessary teamwork aspect to Myth that other similar games lack. This aspect differentiates it from the pack of similar games. It's also free-form. So, if you like the scenario-based feeling of Descent, where it's all laid out for you what needs to be accomplished with each scenario, then maybe Omega Protocol is the one. You won't be disappointed with either, though.
This looks like a more complex fantasy ripoff of Zombicide. Its a cooperative, scenario based, dice driven miniature fighting game. It has team oriented gameplay with special character abilities, thread levels and small loot cards. It has enemy ai and spawn points. I didn't really get what sets it apart from other games.
It is far from being a rip-off of Zombicide. Don't let similarities fuel prejudice. Major differentiating factors: Each character is more of a class hybrid with a deck of cards that grant abilities, attacks, etc. to the character and/or party. The scenarios are more free-form. You can play off of the individual quest cards, you can play stories, which are more structured scenarios, or you can play a sort of wave-based survival mode. Source: I'm a backer and I got to play a couple games of it at Gen Con. Total blast.
2:22 "Street Punk Orc... look at that guy. He wants your cell phone." I lol'd
Kickstartered this with like a bajillion add ons. I know I'm gonna love it. Should get here soon :)

Super glad I backed this on kickstarter. The stretch goals were INSANE!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH I forgot this video. You guys got so much flack for this lol
Glad to hear you guys like the game so much. I was lucky enough to get into the Kickstarter and am so excited for everything to arrive.
Thanks guys. This was my most anticipated review. Great review, happy to hear the game is good.
Thanks so much for the review guys. I kickstarted it and am eagerly awaiting it. I only backed two games last year, Deadzone and this and it seems both are great games.
I can hardly wait to get my copy! Waiting with bells on!
Great review thanks for this. I love the treasure bag!
Still reading through the rule book. Cant wait for it to get here.
Tom, are those cards in sleeves or was that just the lighting? Thanks again for a great review.
Epic component drop!
Didnt kickstart it, but will be pre-ordering this game. Thanks for the vid gentlemen
Wow, now I need to get this game.
Great reviews.
where can I buy this!? i didn't back it. I wish i would've. It looks great!
Thought Sam was wearing a dew rag at first, awesome!

Man this game looks awesome
This is the first time a component drop almost made me cry.
Any similarities to the 90s Macintosh game made by Bungie also called Myth?
Sounds like a board game MMO. Was thinking back to my days of WoW.
Oh darn, another fantasy type dungeon game ill probably buy :P
Starting to have bad space in the shelves :(
Mice and Mystics meets Mage Knight.
I usually enjoy you guys reviews but I agree this needs rerated. The board tiles and miniatures look alot like Mice and Mystics.
the company that makes this game has just put another game on kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/1700755582/mercs-recon?ref=discovery and there are some characters in the stretch goals that have rules for using in myth
So...any relase date for the public on this?
Mage knight and super dungeon explore had a baby.
Hi, does anyone know the card sleeves used here?
they say release around march in the video
This game only just hit the shelf in my stores in UK. The reviews are still very spilt of love and hate it. Still dont know what to think.

Looks really good. I like a good dungeon crawl, and co-ops.
My concerns are with the 'stuff to be added'. Money grab. Power creep.
huge high rating from tom vasel ? must be a bad game.
My only complaint about the game is that there's a lot of text on cards and (unforgivably) in the rulebook that's typeset in Flyspeck 3, and well nigh unreadable. Other than that, it's become a favourite.
This can't come fast enough!!
I don't have $150 to spend on both, so this or Omega Protocol?

Sam Healey
Sam, have you tried a story quest? Do those feel like they have the structure of Descent or are they also very free form?
Tom, have you started sleeving your cards? Noticed it in some of the last videos.

"He wants your cell phone."
Ahhhh! I can't watch it yet! STUPID WORK. Though my work allowed me to back it...sooo...HOORAY WORK! But dangit...
Sounds like Descent and Legends of Andor had a baby.
Game looks good but the flash on those minis is ridiculous.
ah come on. Are the miniatures better than the ones from Krosmaster Arena???
punk minon: "Gimme your phone!" :D
This game is what Mage Knight The Boardgame wanted to be!
Funny I thought Tom's opinion of this game was "ugh... highly overrated !" Maybe he was thinking of another game ?
He wants your cellphone.
I just say: TWO TIMES CAPTAIN!!!
Game is great !
Yes the rulebook is horrible, but there are better verions online that fixes this problem.
Is there a potential for alpha gamer?
No ZEE!?
Is there any other games like this?
+Sarkonix Dungeon crawls? Have you heard of the fantastic Shadows of Brimstone?
Sigh. Must learn to listen to the whole video before asking questions....
Myth is one of the worst games ever made.
Aside from the awful art, it seems fun
Didnt kickstart it, but will be pre-ordering this game. Thanks for the vid gentlemen
