  • Our tour around Toronto, Canada continued...
    This time we visited the craziest market in Toronto in the coolest neighborhood called Kensington Market. Kensington market pedestrian Sunday happens every last Sunday of the month every summer. We had been here a long time ago, and we were glad to be back. Although this time around, we noticed that Toronto has changed, and not for the better...homelessness, drug use, etc seem to be a problem that we did not encountered 5 years ago. Nonetheless, we still love this neighborhood, and the market. Delicious street food, talented musicians, and a fun atmosphere made us want to move to Toronto! Check out our vlog.

    I'm from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and I had the opportunity to live in Toronto for 5 years. I lived near Kensington Market and Chinatown and was always there on the weekends. Definitely one of the best tours in Toronto. Thank you for sharing ❤

    Just to clarify, Kensington market does not "happen" once a month, it is closed to vehicular traffic on the last Sunday of the month.

    Kensington Market is a neighbourhood in Toronto that has retail and residential mix. It is 'open' 7 days a week for retail etc - NOT just on Sundays.

    You should look up the history of the Jamaican patty in Toronto! Many people consider it Toronto's unofficial official food (the peameal bacon sandwich is the official food of Toronto) since it's so ubiquitous & everyone grows up eating it. While I'm on food - the sushi pizza was also invented in Toronto, at Nami restautant.

    I live next to Kensington. That is, I own a house close by. It's a shit hole. It's always been a drug haven. Gangs are just to the south in the public housing as well. And these clowns tag everything. They spray paint everybody's house. 20 years ago at least the places were cheap and aimed at serving local people for groceries etc but now it's becoming overpowered by the fancy overpriced crew. There's still some reasonable places but they are disappearing. And the homeless..... omg it's the worst. 4 years of stupidity. Needles everywhere, and the councillor thinks they have a right to stay so they've told the police to do nothing.
    Tourists love visiting though. So enjoy.

      I used to go there 20 years ago because there was a great place to buy cheese and they had the European meat market .
      Haven’t been in Toronto for years so not sure if those places are still there
      That area was always a dump though looks like it has gone down even farther.
      But no doubt those homes are stupid expensive

    • @kevinn1158
      @kevinn1158 Місяць тому +1

      @@kevbrown1867 Yes my home is stupid expensive. I'm just outside of the market thank god. Rats are everywhere if you are too close. European meats is gone. A whole bunch of the more reasonable places are gone. Now it's either drug heads, homeless or the local left wing crew who most live off of mom and dad or the gov't and talk about how the gov't should buy up the buildings in the neighbourhood so they can live in subsidized housing for nothing. LOL. If you are a tourist it's an interesting place to go eat but a lot of the places got fancied up.
