@@cassiel.6918 For me seeing a child looking 10-12 age up into teen and having them look to be 17-18 instead of 15-16 is strange. I wish they looked just a bit younger personally. Young adult is when they should look in the 18-20s range. It's like there is a missing age group/size in the game.

@@FFigueira I actually downloaded James' school and furnished all the second floor rooms with easels, musical instruments, stoves, woodworking tables etc etc and then when playing on it the npc sims still don't go up there at all
Tips I found work for the game: The Study for Exam interaction can be done a bit all week, you dont need to do it all at once and sending your sims alone to school on monday (after the exams and all) promoted them in their grades 😂
Hope this helps: You can wear your outfits and, under friendly, "hype outfit" to others. And then post them when they're "hot" (mouseover). Even though promoting says hype is increased, it doesn't always go up from neutral/tepid, and I think that is one of the reasons they keep expiring.
Also you're not doing the daily tasks for cheerleading which is probably why Reginald feels tense from forgetting daily tasks. Edit: like others have said, it’s like homework, you have to do cheerleading practice everyday on the cheer mat for your daily tasks & for Reginald to not feel tense from it.edit 2: it’s the overachiever trait
The thing is, we got it on Friday, when we didn't have cheer? So is he just tense from not doing it in general, even though I don't have cheer for days more?
Sidney asked my female Sim that same question … I was puzzled/confused but had her accept it. Now they’re engaged and he drops by like every other day. Wasn’t in the plan. They were just going to be cheerleading besties … an unstoppable force of cheer fabulousness 🧐
FYI James- When you are updating the pricing on your outfits the number in the pop up is what similar outfits are selling for right now, NOT how much you paid to create the look.
When I've listed outfits, the "similar outfits are selling for" number is always the amount I've paid for it... Might just be my game (all kinds of bugs w the update and new pack like everyone else), but it might be the same for James so far? I haven't paid enough attention to his to be sure though! Too busy laughing at all the other crazy stuff going on tbh! 🤷🏻♀️😎
I've really gotta say, one of my favorite things about these lets play episodes is that they're actually quite long. Like a 45 min- 1hr lets play episode always makes my day
From what I recall Reginald spend most of his childhood without a proper bed, since no one bothered to replace his crib. Hell, maybe he never even got a bed! So I figure anything is a step up from that.
The tiny living makes relationships go up AMD DOWN really fast, that's why one negative reaction (the daisy) lowered the relationship by a lot. Sidney and Reginald are so cute together 😍

You know, much as a former teenage sufferer of some serious acne vulgaris I totally appreciate Reginald living his best life even with his face full of cystic inflammation, if he actually treats his acne regularly it might also help his social interactions. I would imagine anyway. Also try getting Reginald the 'Incredibly Friendly' trait. That thing's so OP it'll definitely help him make new friends.
this series really makes me want to get the new game but at the same time I know how buggy it is and feel slightly better watching someone else deal with all that.
It is so buggy, even worse than some of the problems James has encountered… for instance, my Sims never get the pop-up to actually attend prom… it’s on the calendar, they get a date, go to pre-prom parties… but the time rolls around and, no pop-up to go… this pack, along with all the broken things that are still not fixed, has me almost to the point of quitting the game… I actually looked at the uninstall option because I’m so tired and disappointed…

Personally I haven’t really experienced any bugs. Except when I was in CAS it was fine at first but then suddenly none of the buttons on the top right (main menu, gallery, etc) were working. Then when I went into the game, it still didn’t work. It allowed me to press manage worlds and “save and go to manage worlds” but then the whole screen except the UI went black but my sim was still moving around and doing stuff and I could still pause and play time and it didn’t go to manage worlds. I don’t know if that’s because of the new pack though, I’ve only experienced it once yesterday and it was fine when I was using CAS to make other sims.
I’ve left mods disabled and the pack is mostly fine to me! The only real bug I’ve seen is something with the curved walls James pointed out in a previous video
@ my biggest/worst known bug right now is a time loop 🔁 My Sim is supposed to wake up in the next day and somehow the game will blink … and suddenly my Sim is standing in a random place EXACTLY, exactly 3 days prior in Sim-time Like a quantum leap they didn’t sign up for. I’m starting to embrace it as a feature
Use Social Bunny to get friends! Reacting to posts/messages gets relationships up like crazy. I think it's kind of a workaround for the socially awkward sims since they don't actually have to talk to anyone.
It's kinda of OP too. I started playing with a socially awkward sim and after less than a week of doing the social bunny thing half of the school is simping over her.
Putting all the possible romance boosts into the lot + the lights with romantic aura to get a better relationship with Sidney is kinda giving me flashbacks to Nina trying to get Gregnant 😂

Yeah the windows on the front are to line up with the door and fit under the roof eave. On the sides it looks weird with the windows that low, so they were higher haha
@@JamesTurnerYT yeah i assumed exactly this, and it does look good from the outside with the walls up. i think with some more furniture down the line the height difference will not strike the eye as much from the inside of the house as it does now

So far I like HSY except for all the bugs I keep encountering =\ Other than the bugs it's one of my favorite packs. I had 2 teens going to school and for about a week of sims time it went ok. My older teen even got to graduate early due to her overachieving at everything lol. She got to then enroll into uni as a teenager. My 2nd teen is having a much harder time... He got detention for skipping school... on Thanksgiving when it's set as a holiday for no school/work... (my 1st teenager also didn't go to school that day and she didn't get any kind of actions against her) And then shortly after that day it no longer gave me the option to go to school with him at all. Like it completely took away the option for me to have active high school. No popups or anything he would just go to school like normal. I also couldn't complete the 1 teen aspiration centered on popularity. I made 10 teen friends and I posted on social bunny... But it told me I needed to join a T-Pose challenge and not once did anyone at my school do the challenge for me to join... I even camped at the high school for 2 days straight and not once did anyone do it. My sim was also in drama club after school, and even after graduation, it didn't kick me out. I kept it active until age up and sure enough even as a young adult it had me in drama club lol. Only getting a new job finally released me from it lol. Also, has anyone else been having an issue with Trendi? Like it functions and everything, but I'm not getting any variety. Like 9 times out of 10 it just tells me streetwear is in fashion and then boho or polished are not in trend. I have had preppy in style 1x and rocker in style 1x and EVERY other time it's streetwear. I can't even make more streetwear outfits because I have had streetwear so often it keeps telling me all the clothes are in use with other outfits. I even had multiple times where it told me streetwear was in style, and then also said streetwear was not in style... So how does that work? Lol. My poor sim too also died upon aging up... I have normal lifespan set. I have never played with any other option other than normal. But sure enough I got the notification that he aged up, and then without any other kind of notification he was gone lol. I saw him as a ghost in my friend list. Luckily the only mod I use has been updated so I was able to revive him, but it is still just a hassle having to redo all the stuff that doesn't carry over when you revive sims =\ I also wish they'd update it to where after school clubs are also cancelled on a no school day lol. Like I know it's Christmas mom but we really gotta go to drama club and cheerleading!! Lol. And uni for that matter... Uni doesn't acknowledge holidays at all lol. Like uni isn't hard enough we are making you all come to class on Christmas. Who needs a break between terms? =p
Delete the LocalThumbCache file from your Sims 4 folder and continue doing so after each gaming session, the Sims 4 will then create a new file every time you open the game. It might not help with everything (like the death glitch RIP) but deleting it will refresh some of the info pertaining to lots and Sims so there's no reason to keep the old file, especially after a new update. It might solve the bug where your Sim can't go to high school, for instance. (Although it also makes me wonder if your teen got expelled and it just didn't notify you for some reason?? No idea! Three or four detentions will result in expulsion and then your teen has to "reapply" to high school lol.) I wonder if the Trendi issue is related to any other packs you have? Maybe your CAS options per installed pack(s) heavily favors streetwear. That's just a theory though and it doesn't explain why it might turn up as both hot and not at the same time... XD Drama Club is from Get Famous because of the acting career so I don't know how fine-tuned it is. One of my own teen Sims had the same issue when she aged up (I think; my memory is a little foggy but I remember having to quit it to give her the stylist career) and I was playing her about two years ago so it has nothing to do with the new pack; they just really love being in drama club (even though I don't; it was kinda boring TBH. It might've been better if I put her friends in an acting club as well.) Really awkward that the holidays didn't count, that probably a cross-compatibility issue between Seasons, University, and High School Years; pretty sure I've also noticed that with Uni before. If it happens again, call them up and use your Sim's vacation days to enjoy the holiday. It's kind of stupid but hopefully that's a good workaround? :)
@@DoveJS I clear out my cache folder before every start up lol. Is there a different cache somewhere? That's weird if he was expelled. He did graduate later so if he got expelled then that was bugged too lol. He still went to school everyday and his grades got up to an A... It just wasn't letting it be an active career. He just rabbit holed automatically at 8am without me getting the popup to choose. I also discovered that even after graduation it kept trying to make me go to prom and other school events lol. Like um... I'm adult now... Probably a bit creepy to be going to prom with a bunch of teenagers... Lol. I do have all the EPs and a handful of GPs and SPs. It might be effecting the Trendi thing. Hard to say when we don't have a way to turn different packs on/off to test. I know it hasn't seemed to be an issue for Reginald so I just wondered if anyone else was having similar issues lol. Esp the hot but not hot at the same time... lol. I'll just have to pretend it's because some of the streetwear options I get are 1 piece suits... Maybe the shirt and jacket part are hot but those pants are just bad... Can't change a 1 piece outfit... Lol.
@@blahgurl13652007 The LocalThumbCache is a single, specific file nestled into the Sims 4 folder. It might end in .ini as the file name? lol I don't remember because I haven't played in several months but I always try to delete it immediately after I close my game or else right before I open it again but in this case I deleted it last time. You can see the file size get bigger if you leave it in there and start filling in the empty lots the game gives you with buildings and new sim families. I don't know everything it keeps track of but it creates caches of these changes even if you stay in Manage World the entire time. The more you add, the bigger the file gets and it's not just the thumbnails, it keeps track of some game mechanics like if you have laundry going or if a Sim was asleep (and these things can get glitched.) If you regularly switch between saves, it can get pretty bloated. Edit: TBH I think this may be one of the issues causing problems for James if he doesn't do this: perhaps the frame rate issues might be a combination of all the screenshots in his screenshots folder from taking a ton of photos over the years (I regularly remove mine and store them in a backup folder elsewhere) and a super bloated LocalThumbCache file if he never deletes it. He has a much better computer than I do so I think it's a game optimization issue... which may just be the state Sims 4 is in after about ten years of existing lol but it's hard to be entirely certain. Hrmm, yeah, very weird bugs then! I guess if they graduated, then they weren't expelled. Well, sometimes before HSY released, kids and teens would have trouble just going to regular school, there wouldn't be any button and they wouldn't go autonomously (I know when aging up they have a day or so to get prepared but this is long after that I think.) Perhaps it's a related issue? I'm not sure. You can go to James Turner's website to temporarily turn off specific packs! If you want to test it, I'd definitely delete the LocalThumbCache file first and try a brand new save to see how it goes with the trends and all of the packs for a few days. Then close the game, delete the LocalThumbCache again and turn off everything except Base Game (or test it with specific packs, however you want to do it) using his website and the same new save file to minimize variables. I love your idea regarding the one-piece though lol very plausible! :D
Drama club? But there isn’t a drama club for high school. Only cheerleading, American football, chess and computing. Did you mod it or set it up as a get together club? Because that’s not the fault of the pack then.
@@rachelcookie321 It comes with Get Famous and the Acting skill. I never said the issues with drama club were related to the HSY pack lol. I just thought they were funny bugs. The only mod I use is MC Command Center and I only use it when I want to change household limit or when a glitch untimely murders my sims and I need to revive them lol. Most of the time I have mods turned off. I'm a firm believer in not using mods unless absolutely necessary. I pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a game; I shouldn't have to rely on mods to make it fun or playable. So drama club was NOT modded in. My sim joined drama club in elementary school (in lieu of scouts) and you continue in it through high school just like scouts. I also noticed that once HSY was released, when I went to the options to join an after school club, drama club was listed as an option just like the new ones so it can be joined in high school as well as in elementary school. Again, drama club comes with Get Famous. It is not a mod.
I've been playing with this pack and my grades only went up when I got a day or two for my sim to go alone anda "study hard". If I went everyday, even completing all the tasks the grades would never go up
Yeah, it seems they never increase if you are on a high school lot when the "work day" ends. In my family, the dad is working in the Science career, so I just have them alternate who gets followed for the day. Dad still earns performance by going unfollowed, but son gets his grade increases when I'm following the dad.

you should get some earphone for reginald, he can hear it in class (the only thing they can do beside going on social bunny or listen to the professor) and this help a lot for the tense mood for exemple !! (thanks for the video, i'm waiting everyday for the next episode cause i just love it)
The pop up about not finishing your daily task showed up soon after the "run on treadmill" task changed which is part of your school day. It also then makes sense that Sydney made a comment on you needing to hit the gym

Love this series :) When I was playing last night, my teen sim died from starvation (my sims needs are messed up. i.e. not showing need decay) and was brought back to life by his dad. Now my teen sim's other dad has the fear of death. Also the social awkward trait isn't too broken for me though my sim immediately hated Molly when she showed up and my sim has never met her before lol.
Just as an FYI: It's quite easy to get rid of the fear of dead end job. Before going to work, just click the sim and select 'regain passion'. If it works he'll get a positive moodlet and the fear will be conquered once he goes to work!
I love when Reginald talked to Molly, he got a positive interaction and she got a negative interaction. That seems like every conversation he has! :) Molly asked to be your best friend and you said no... maybe that's why she's got a festering grudge.
Omg, the pool joke was about the 'older generation' sims games where sims would die because the pool ladder was gone (as opposed to now when they can prop up on their arms). I saw that in my game today and couldn't stop laughing 😂

if your sim is flirty, you have the "offer rose" interaction which satisfies "giving flowers" on Love Day without having to spend money!

It is so buggy, even worse than some of the problems James has encountered… for instance, my Sims never get the pop-up to actually attend prom… it’s on the calendar, they get a date, go to pre-prom parties… but the time rolls around and, no pop-up to go… this pack, along with all the broken things that are still not fixed, has me almost to the point of quitting the game… I actually looked at the uninstall option because I’m so tired and disappointed…
@@chellebean8925 oh gosh. I only have a few packs installed so my game isn't so bad as other peoples but I think I'll continue just watching instead of paying £40 for a programming nightmare
Personally I haven’t really experienced any bugs. Except when I was in CAS it was fine at first but then suddenly none of the buttons on the top right (main menu, gallery, etc) were working. Then when I went into the game, it still didn’t work. It allowed me to press manage worlds and “save and go to manage worlds” but then the whole screen except the UI went black but my sim was still moving around and doing stuff and I could still pause and play time and it didn’t go to manage worlds. I don’t know if that’s because of the new pack though, I’ve only experienced it once yesterday and it was fine when I was using CAS to make other sims.
I’ve left mods disabled and the pack is mostly fine to me! The only real bug I’ve seen is something with the curved walls James pointed out in a previous video
@ my biggest/worst known bug right now is a time loop 🔁 My Sim is supposed to wake up in the next day and somehow the game will blink … and suddenly my Sim is standing in a random place EXACTLY, exactly 3 days prior in Sim-time

Use Social Bunny to get friends! Reacting to posts/messages gets relationships up like crazy. I think it's kind of a workaround for the socially awkward sims since they don't actually have to talk to anyone.
It's kinda of OP too. I started playing with a socially awkward sim and after less than a week of doing the social bunny thing half of the school is simping over her.
Whenever I feel like my life sucks I just remember Reginald from this series 💀

Yeah the windows on the front are to line up with the door and fit under the roof eave. On the sides it looks weird with the windows that low, so they were higher haha
@@JamesTurnerYT yeah i assumed exactly this, and it does look good from the outside with the walls up. i think with some more furniture down the line the height difference will not strike the eye as much from the inside of the house as it does now
the tense from missing daily task is from the stuff in the top left like not working out, not being friendly to students/faculty etc.

So far I like HSY except for all the bugs I keep encountering =\ Other than the bugs it's one of my favorite packs. I had 2 teens going to school and for about a week of sims time it went ok. My older teen even got to graduate early due to her overachieving at everything lol. She got to then enroll into uni as a teenager. My 2nd teen is having a much harder time... He got detention for skipping school... on Thanksgiving when it's set as a holiday for no school/work... (my 1st teenager also didn't go to school that day and she didn't get any kind of actions against her) And then shortly after that day it no longer gave me the option to go to school with him at all. Like it completely took away the option for me to have active high school. No popups or anything he would just go to school like normal. I also couldn't complete the 1 teen aspiration centered on popularity. I made 10 teen friends and I posted on social bunny... But it told me I needed to join a T-Pose challenge and not once did anyone at my school do the challenge for me to join... I even camped at the high school for 2 days straight and not once did anyone do it. My sim was also in drama club after school, and even after graduation, it didn't kick me out. I kept it active until age up and sure enough even as a young adult it had me in drama club lol. Only getting a new job finally released me from it lol. Also, has anyone else been having an issue with Trendi? Like it functions and everything, but I'm not getting any variety. Like 9 times out of 10 it just tells me streetwear is in fashion and then boho or polished are not in trend. I have had preppy in style 1x and rocker in style 1x and EVERY other time it's streetwear. I can't even make more streetwear outfits because I have had streetwear so often it keeps telling me all the clothes are in use with other outfits. I even had multiple times where it told me streetwear was in style, and then also said streetwear was not in style... So how does that work? Lol. My poor sim too also died upon aging up... I have normal lifespan set. I have never played with any other option other than normal. But sure enough I got the notification that he aged up, and then without any other kind of notification he was gone lol. I saw him as a ghost in my friend list. Luckily the only mod I use has been updated so I was able to revive him, but it is still just a hassle having to redo all the stuff that doesn't carry over when you revive sims =\
I also wish they'd update it to where after school clubs are also cancelled on a no school day lol. Like I know it's Christmas mom but we really gotta go to drama club and cheerleading!! Lol. And uni for that matter... Uni doesn't acknowledge holidays at all lol. Like uni isn't hard enough we are making you all come to class on Christmas. Who needs a break between terms? =p
Delete the LocalThumbCache file from your Sims 4 folder and continue doing so after each gaming session, the Sims 4 will then create a new file every time you open the game. It might not help with everything (like the death glitch RIP) but deleting it will refresh some of the info pertaining to lots and Sims so there's no reason to keep the old file, especially after a new update. It might solve the bug where your Sim can't go to high school, for instance. (Although it also makes me wonder if your teen got expelled and it just didn't notify you for some reason?? No idea! Three or four detentions will result in expulsion and then your teen has to "reapply" to high school lol.)
I wonder if the Trendi issue is related to any other packs you have? Maybe your CAS options per installed pack(s) heavily favors streetwear. That's just a theory though and it doesn't explain why it might turn up as both hot and not at the same time... XD
Drama Club is from Get Famous because of the acting career so I don't know how fine-tuned it is. One of my own teen Sims had the same issue when she aged up (I think; my memory is a little foggy but I remember having to quit it to give her the stylist career) and I was playing her about two years ago so it has nothing to do with the new pack; they just really love being in drama club (even though I don't; it was kinda boring TBH. It might've been better if I put her friends in an acting club as well.)
Really awkward that the holidays didn't count, that probably a cross-compatibility issue between Seasons, University, and High School Years; pretty sure I've also noticed that with Uni before. If it happens again, call them up and use your Sim's vacation days to enjoy the holiday. It's kind of stupid but hopefully that's a good workaround? :)
@@DoveJS I clear out my cache folder before every start up lol. Is there a different cache somewhere? That's weird if he was expelled. He did graduate later so if he got expelled then that was bugged too lol. He still went to school everyday and his grades got up to an A... It just wasn't letting it be an active career. He just rabbit holed automatically at 8am without me getting the popup to choose. I also discovered that even after graduation it kept trying to make me go to prom and other school events lol. Like um... I'm adult now... Probably a bit creepy to be going to prom with a bunch of teenagers... Lol.
I do have all the EPs and a handful of GPs and SPs. It might be effecting the Trendi thing. Hard to say when we don't have a way to turn different packs on/off to test. I know it hasn't seemed to be an issue for Reginald so I just wondered if anyone else was having similar issues lol. Esp the hot but not hot at the same time... lol. I'll just have to pretend it's because some of the streetwear options I get are 1 piece suits... Maybe the shirt and jacket part are hot but those pants are just bad... Can't change a 1 piece outfit... Lol.
@@blahgurl13652007 The LocalThumbCache is a single, specific file nestled into the Sims 4 folder. It might end in .ini as the file name? lol I don't remember because I haven't played in several months but I always try to delete it immediately after I close my game or else right before I open it again but in this case I deleted it last time. You can see the file size get bigger if you leave it in there and start filling in the empty lots the game gives you with buildings and new sim families. I don't know everything it keeps track of but it creates caches of these changes even if you stay in Manage World the entire time. The more you add, the bigger the file gets and it's not just the thumbnails, it keeps track of some game mechanics like if you have laundry going or if a Sim was asleep (and these things can get glitched.) If you regularly switch between saves, it can get pretty bloated.
Edit: TBH I think this may be one of the issues causing problems for James if he doesn't do this: perhaps the frame rate issues might be a combination of all the screenshots in his screenshots folder from taking a ton of photos over the years (I regularly remove mine and store them in a backup folder elsewhere) and a super bloated LocalThumbCache file if he never deletes it. He has a much better computer than I do so I think it's a game optimization issue... which may just be the state Sims 4 is in after about ten years of existing lol but it's hard to be entirely certain.
Hrmm, yeah, very weird bugs then! I guess if they graduated, then they weren't expelled. Well, sometimes before HSY released, kids and teens would have trouble just going to regular school, there wouldn't be any button and they wouldn't go autonomously (I know when aging up they have a day or so to get prepared but this is long after that I think.) Perhaps it's a related issue? I'm not sure.
You can go to James Turner's website to temporarily turn off specific packs! If you want to test it, I'd definitely delete the LocalThumbCache file first and try a brand new save to see how it goes with the trends and all of the packs for a few days. Then close the game, delete the LocalThumbCache again and turn off everything except Base Game (or test it with specific packs, however you want to do it) using his website and the same new save file to minimize variables.

Drama club? But there isn’t a drama club for high school. Only cheerleading, American football, chess and computing. Did you mod it or set it up as a get together club? Because that’s not the fault of the pack then.
@@rachelcookie321 It comes with Get Famous and the Acting skill. I never said the issues with drama club were related to the HSY pack lol. I just thought they were funny bugs. The only mod I use is MC Command Center and I only use it when I want to change household limit or when a glitch untimely murders my sims and I need to revive them lol. Most of the time I have mods turned off. I'm a firm believer in not using mods unless absolutely necessary. I pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a game; I shouldn't have to rely on mods to make it fun or playable. So drama club was NOT modded in. My sim joined drama club in elementary school (in lieu of scouts) and you continue in it through high school just like scouts. I also noticed that once HSY was released, when I went to the options to join an after school club, drama club was listed as an option just like the new ones so it can be joined in high school as well as in elementary school. Again, drama club comes with Get Famous. It is not a mod.
I've been playing with this pack and my grades only went up when I got a day or two for my sim to go alone anda "study hard". If I went everyday, even completing all the tasks the grades would never go up
Yeah, it seems they never increase if you are on a high school lot when the "work day" ends. In my family, the dad is working in the Science career, so I just have them alternate who gets followed for the day. Dad still earns performance by going unfollowed, but son gets his grade increases when I'm following the dad.

The pop up about not finishing your daily task showed up soon after the "run on treadmill" task changed which is part of your school day. It also then makes sense that Sydney made a comment on you needing to hit the gym

Love this series :) When I was playing last night, my teen sim died from starvation (my sims needs are messed up. i.e. not showing need decay) and was brought back to life by his dad. Now my teen sim's other dad has the fear of death. Also the social awkward trait isn't too broken for me though my sim immediately hated Molly when she showed up and my sim has never met her before lol.

Just as an FYI: It's quite easy to get rid of the fear of dead end job. Before going to work, just click the sim and select 'regain passion'. If it works he'll get a positive moodlet and the fear will be conquered once he goes to work!

Omg, the pool joke was about the 'older generation' sims games where sims would die because the pool ladder was gone (as opposed to now when they can prop up on their arms). I saw that in my game today and couldn't stop laughing 😂
