OK guys, First I am so tired of hearing everyone talking about the kickstand on the Galaxy View is not removable. The kickstand is very much so removable. There are 2 tabs just behind the screen than when pushed inboard detaches the kickstand. Now you can put it in a bag or just use it like any other regular tablet. It has Direct TV built in so you have a wireless battery powered TV you can take any place.
Second, the View has so many other secret functions that it's almost scary. I have mine hooked to an external Samsung DVD drive so I can watch DVD's and I also have it connected to an external hard drive using an OTG adapter. The extra screen real estate comes in very handy when using the split screen or multi-window functions. Yes, the View has split screen, and multi-window multi-tasking support much like a PC, allowing you to open up to 4 apps at the same time and the device can also connect to bluetooth and wired keyboards, mice, printers and game controllers. There is even drag and drop sharing between apps that support it! Match that Apple! Not to mention 128 GB sd card support along with the built in 64 GB memory built in and you can even connect a camera, Iphone, Ipad or other phone to it in camera mode and share or download and import picts. I have an Ipad Pro too and I am telling you the Galaxy View smokes the Ipad Pro in the functionality and connectivity dept. Also using the included video app you can play videos in a resize-able pop up window and open 4 other apps at the same time. Not to mention you can search your picts by name, date or location. Sorry Apple Ipad! Although the Ipad Pro has a more powerful processor, the crippled connectivity, lack of a sd card slot and crippled software gimps the Ipad Pro when placed against the Galaxy View, So if you want a large screen tablet that gives you more productivity, more screen real estate and big sound, try the Galaxy View. AT&T had a promotion that priced the View at around 100.00 if you sign on for a 1 year data plan. So match that Apple Ipad Pro! Yeah, I thought so! It ain't gonna happen! I also got inventive and drilled 2 small holes in my kickstand and attached a shoulder strap to carry it hands free over my shoulder. I only wish I could find a silicone case for the View. I did some tinkering to the kickstand too and mounted it to a tripod with wheels to use it as a presentation device. That is one of the advantages of the kickstand, you can modify the kickstand without damaging the tablet itself. So get one, try it and be bold and experiment! It's like a transformer, "It's more than meets the eye!"

i've had one for just over a month now and yes it does have it's draw-backs but i still love it.

papitosabe I've had mine for a week now. I love it, but here are weaknesses. But I knew this going in. Bulky 18.4 screen lol. 1080p, 2 GB RAM, no USB port of any kind, only 2 position for stand. But I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. Why UA-cam, Gmail, reading, watching movies. it's a win
Now in mid 2018, I have used one for two years and think this is the best purchase I have ever made. I don't game so don't need the powerhouse tablet. I do a lot of social media and browsing and the Netflix download feature offers movies on the go without extra gear. I can use the kickstand to perch it on the steering wheel in my car or truck (while parked) to watch videos or surf the net. Not a fan of Bluetooth keyboards because they don't keep up with my typing speed but the on screen keyboard is adequately large enough to comfortably touchtype. Unoptimized apps is a real issue and a terminally missing software upgrade irritates to no end but the rest of the experience continues to feel up to date three years from original issue date. Now why do I like this thing so much given it's ginormous size for travel or around the house? Because it has a big screen boom box feel. Music in true stereo, podcasts loud enough to be heard on the jobsite. In the kitchen or garage it's big enough to see the details of a how-to video handsfree. See and hear that music lesson. Collegians and home schoolers, do your online assignments on the couch or the kitchen table or the local coffee shop or even in your car as described before. Bedtime TV - perfect. Old fart needs no glasses to read that grocery list with it nested in the baby seat of the grocery basket. And what a conversation starter while toting it around town. Speaking of which Google maps on an 18.4" screen is off the charts awesome.
You can't netflix and' chill with a tablet on your lap.

The stand is pretty cool, but NEEDS to be removable or fold flat.
It depends on what ur using for before you buy it..... if you a consumer who want something nice then this is it.... but if your looking for production then go buy what's needed for whatever project you got going on....

The back stand IS removable. It has spring assisted clips that you can put a pen into the slot from the top and slide it over and unclip both hinges and remove it. I did this to be able to put it in a backpack.

I am a solid Apple lover but your review of this Galaxy sparked my interest. Maybe something I will buy if a 2nd edition is made. I would prefer a higher screen resolution but the stand is a major turnoff for me. Very comprehensive review. A million thanks.
There's definitely market for this device. I can see this being use as media consumption. Carrying from room to room. Great for consuming videos while on dining table, while cooking and reading recipe. I would definitely wait for generation 2 though. Fix that stand and make it more portable, better display, and add hdmi and use it as monitor. Pretty much like everything you said in this video.
why so cheap and big? not that I have 600 lying around but I love galaxy. I see it is great for watching t.v. But does it run off you'r own data plan or do you need to have cable?

I'm waiting to see if they will make a bigger tablet. I have a 24 in. monitor that I love watching and so I'd like the next one to be at least 26 inches. Also I hope HD movies can be viewed on them instead of SD ones. Good review.

Tiny battery, only 1080 screen, weird stand, but at least it has a huge screen?
The tablet actually does perform multi-view windows, providing the app supports it. You can have to applications open at the same time in different size configuration windows. You can collapse any of the floating windows, then return back to its original set size. It's extremely handy when working with say a calendar and a project/task application.
you can actually tale off the stand really easy. Theres a video where it shows how. it has two clips only.
It's a shame that Samsung didn't put in a HDMI in.
This would open a new hybrid category of tech.

Great vid, thanks Danny. It would have been wise to have had HDMI in thus enabling this as a portable monitor. BUT once you've used a big tablet (I have a wacom companion hybrid 13.3" ) they are so handy for content consumption that going back to a Nexus7 -- it's hard.
I think this was a big test for Samsung. Thee only reason I bought the Note 4, was for viewing movies, TV shows and UA-cam on a larger screen. Plus, I also needed a phone at the time. I agree with you and most other reviewers, that built in stand needs to go! Hopefully next time we get 4k resolution, built in S-Pen and more power. It would be nice if it came in metallic finishes as well. Including a Coral Blue option. I love it's size though! Even though it is pretty heavy! Lol!

1440p and a hdmi pass through so can be a monitor, now that would be a nerds must have gadget. making the hinge magnetic, would be harder to use but would mean you could take it off.

Hey, do you know if airdisplay works on here? Possible alternative for the lack of the hdmi output.. Do you know if the tablet can be forced to work in portrait mode? I'd have to be some kind of workaround since I think this model is not natively set up for this.. Oh, and last question if I might: is the stand permanently attached? Any way to get that off? My 2 biggest gripes with this thing are that it doesn't have an AMOLED display and that the stand is fixed to it. Samsung puts AMOLED/OLED screens on everything and markets the hell out of it.. and on a device specially made for viewing movies/tv they don't.
and why no mention of ports? or for lack of? for the whole 10 minutes I was waiting for some mention... So I guess that's my question.

Yeah my 10.5 inch ipa dodo has a 8134 mill amp hour battery and it’s just over half the size of this view thing
The battery is 66% larger than the ipad pro 12.9. mah rating is not comparable, since it's an 11.3V battery, vs 3.7V typical of phones and most tablets.
Its marketed like the Mega 6.3. Optimized primarily for media consumption without breaking the bank. For what the majority of people do on these devices, the specs are more than adequate.
They sell an optional carrying case. I have one and I also keep a vehicle charger so others can use it while driving. There's also a vehicle mount for it.
Can someone tell me how much time Samsung spend developing that thing,one or two hours?
HI i recently bought the Sony Z5 dual and i went to take some photos during day outside in 5 mins after taking few shots like 5-8 shots it started heating how to over come this am really frustrated camera settings on manual resolution 8mp / 3840x2160 (16:9) focus mode object tracking and battery went to 95% can you suggest how to overcome this heat issue or my settings were wrong?

I think you made a mistake those apps that are squished don't display at all in landscape mode so this is an extra; they force the user to go to portrait mode. The price of this thing makes it very good, I have a 10.5 galaxy tab which was expensive compared to this, but now they're cheaper (and out of production)

I have an iPad Pro and its had to be replaced 4 or 5 times for technical problems. (I've owned 3 iPhones but the speaker went out on the first one, the next one the battery died quickly after 6 months of use, and I had issues with the 3rd iPhone, so I'm not an Apple fan.) I basically use my tablet for games and watching videos and movies so I don't need anything real technical. Unlike the iPad Pro that does various technical thing's it might be fine for other people. I'm thinking about getting the Samsung 18" but it the only downside is it wouldn't be easy to take it with me to use in public places.
So this thing gets about 6 hours on a charge, but how long to recharge?

I really really like that tablet. Also @ 1:22 you can take that stand off. Theres videos on youtube showing how to take it off. Theres two spring clips on the hinges that you need to pull back to remove the stand
I love my Galaxy View.... and I hope when updates roll around or the View has a part 2 I will be getting it.... very impressive start.... and I paid 350 from best buy

so uhh Samsung, tell me why I would want to buy this tablet? when I can just buy a Microsoft surface pro 4 with 2160p screen
It's intended to be a portable TV. I use it in the bathroom in the morning to watch the news while I am getting ready for the day. And when I'm ready to move to the kitchen for breakfast it goes with me. I pair it with a blue tooth speaker for more robust sound. Works great.
so its pretty much a laptop without a laptop's functions or features

xNawaf555 Its not 10 times slower,its 12.9 inches and there are both bigger and smaller laptops than it.Also it runs faster just because android and ios run faster than windows,I dont really know why but its true.Also no one tablet needs such a huge resolution,full hd is enough,so that 3k is just pumping the price.
And ios can do much fewer things than windows and android,so I would go with a laptop if I had to choose.

May people see no need for such a large Android tablet. However it seems to be a dream come true for musicians because it can display two pages of sheet music, greatly reducing the need to turn pages. I am impatient to buy one but they are not yet available in Australia and I fear that the freight cost from the U.S.A. would be very high.
i might consider it if it has 2550x1440 or even 4K resolution. but for now. nah...
Awesome review, looks more useful (to me personally) than an iPad Pro (but of course they are two different types of tablets), except for the fact that I don't live in the US so there's hardly any streaming content to subscribe to around here.

I'm looking for an A4 size Tablet that I can input my PDF scanned files of my Music Scores/Song Lyrics. Can this be done on this Tablet via a MicroSDcard, an OTG or directly downloaded to the Tablet via a desktop? If not, kindly reccomend a comparible one.

+Abu Bruh Even though it is 'only' 5700 mAh, doesn't mean it's small. The battery actually runs at 11.3 Volts, meaning it is 64 Watt Hours. The iPad pro does have a 10,300 mAh battery, but since it only runs at around 3.7 Volts, it actually has a smaller battery at 38 Watt Hours.

4K and Amoled would hava made a lot of sense here. Some say that 4k makes more sense if you're close to the screen and i think that's the way it will be used. Also 4k at 18.4 inches gives a 252 ppi.

Higher resolution screens are good for photos and videos but usually
makes much smaller characters, and therefore much harder to read text for
some of us. iPad fonts are adjustable but only a few apps actually use
the larger fonts. Controlling the IOS device then requires reading
glasses. For that reason I'm not planning to buy another iPad. This lower resolution screen is better for me. I would love to use Sky Safari on this big screen.
Another note, with a little imagination I drilled two small holes in the kickstand and attached a sholder strap. Now no more weight lifting contest carrying the View, or you cn just take off the kickstand and put it in your laptop bag. And it will lay flat without the kickstand

the intention of this product is to stream video, a lot of people have tablets and smartphons but only use them to whatch netflix, youtube, text, call and mail so... this is why this tablet is good for house with kids or a small tv replacement

you can remove the stand. it unlocks by spring loaded rods much like a watch band.
The stand does indeed come off. There are two notches on the back you push to remove it

I own a Samsung 23" monitor but is too heavy, this tablet is smaller but looks like a good choice to use it as a small TV which is portable.
This is really a family oriented tablet. my kids enjoy it a lot. Soo to all the people that hate this theres always an ipad for you ";_____;"
If there ever is a view 2 it better have a 2k display and hdmi port because like Danny said it would be a big hit

thanks for the video, i'm back to school to take an engineering degree in HVAC, and i bought the samsung galaxy tab a with pen for more than five months i almost stopped using paper thanks to to the snotes and onenote (and other office features like office lens) but they are still not there yet,the snotes exceed the onenote with its simplicity but the onenote are more reliable with filing system and backup so i was wondering if you have any clips regard lecture note taking hardware wise and software wise it would be helpful to to have a stable combination.

I think a little heating on the back side can turn that stand to a flat surface..
can i connect a bluetooth mouse? it will be perfect to use the splashtop app to stream my desk top. use it as a wireless cpu.
don't see why they couldn't give this a 2k display and the exynos 7420, I'm still waiting on the galaxy note 10.5 2015 or 16 edition...
You can't compare this to an iPad Pro. The tablet that is closest that Samsung makes to the iPad Pro is the Galaxy Tab Pro with the 12.2" screen.
Why did they put only a 5700mAh battery,my Tab 4 10.1 inch has a 6800mAh battery,they could've easily fitted a much larger battery
I would buy that for my mom's kitchen tabletop once the price drops a bit more. Would keep it plugged into the outlet.

@dannywinget portability isn't an issue since this device was built for indoor uses. I found this Samsung view very handy. It saved me from adding another box from my cable provider (another $$$ monthly fee) for my daughter's room. Instead we can just put this in her room use xfinity mobile app to watch her favorite show so no more remote fighting :-)
