- Sea of Thieves Season Three launches later this month, and with it comes Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life - an epic original story that brings Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew sailing in from beyond the horizon to spark new adventures spanning five narrative-driven Tall Tales. This special Xbox broadcast caught up with the teams behind this magical collaboration to offer some rousing insights into its creation. I originally got Sea of Thieves because it was the closest I could get to being Jack Sparrow and I absolutely love the ride and films. So this is like a dream come true.
If you want to check out another pirate game also, AC Black Flag is very good at making you feel like a Pirate. Very different to Sea of Theives though

For all the new people watching this I want you to know that this is my 7th time watching this video because I loved a pirate's life and like to watch this video pretending I haven't played pirate's life yet so I can get that same feeling of excitement I had playing through a pirate's life. These new tall tales were just breath taking

As someone who been on the POTC ride at disney world like hundreds of time, it's so awesome seeing all those recreations of the ride itself in the game!! "Dead men tell no tales" brings some serious nostalgia
I can’t wait for this update! I’d really enjoy it if in the future we got another ship type, like a frigate or something like that. There have been times where I couldn’t get all my friends in one ship and we all had to vote somebody out. That wasn’t very fun.
Wouldn’t be balanced. Imagine a sloop vs a frigate
@@hobo3680 in order to get bigger/more capacity ships in the game. There will be a point where it won’t be balanced anymore. But if they tried to make it balanced they won’t do a bigger ship justice. A bigger ship is supposed to be more powerful, and that will get to the point where it isn’t balanced anymore. Sloops will have to never go near a big ship because that’s almost certain death. Rare will have to give up some things in order to get more people into one ship. I know a lot of people want a “Man o War” but that would be too big if properly done. My personal opinion is the frigate could be 6 person crew, and Man o War could be 10 with 10 cannons on each side. But they won’t do that. A proper Man o War would be too strong.

I'm very excited to see all of this... but I'll be very disappointed if you can't actually play Davy Jones' Organ... the instrument or the musical piece, in any form. It's my favorite piece and made me love the villain that is Davy Jones.

For those upset that Johnny isn’t the one voicing Jack, I want to make it clear that Jared Butler has voiced Jack Sparrow in nearly every video game adaptation of him since 2007, while I love Johnny depp myself, this shouldn’t be a surprise, even taking controversy out of the matter, he has never done a video game VA, it’s always been Jared for the video games.
He voiced the various grunts and groans of Jack in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean though

I believe rare have control over their dev servers, including what server events are up. So in theory I THINK in rare's private servers they can summon multiple events in one go.

Meanwhile me and my crew are trying to get a ship to go vertical on a rock with the harpoons
Not sure how possible that is, but I do know is that it’s more than possible to park the ship ontop of most islands permanently using the harpoons (it’s actually a good strategy for forts since you can just pull it up onto the island, and use the high ground and easy accessible supplies to shred through the skeletons.

While i am seriously hyped for the update... i cant wait for reddit to be full of complaints of "the Jack AI never hits, waste of cannon balls, etc."
I hope for the best though, and i hope all player enjoy the new vontent equally
From what I've watched, Jack is actually fairly accurate. He doesn't track as good as some players, but he's quite capable about gunnery, letting you focus more on steering and repairing.
Perfect example of how a game can bring players back and tons of new players with a quality update like this. Cannot wait to play this with all my friends !
I hope the world realizes SoT potential. It truly is a work of art.

This genuinely makes me want to cry because I grew up watching these movies with my mom and she LOVES Pirates of the Carribean, and I love Sea of Thieves (I love Pirates too but haven't watched them in years) but it makes me think of the good parts of my childhood and I am just SO excited for this.

The detail they put into adding the RIDE aspects of Pirates, the original of the Pirates franchise, into the game is astounding and as a theme park nerd makes me so nostalgic.

Not using Depp is a sidestep from any controversy so on balance it makes sense.
I dont think his voice was even used for Disney Infinity (previous video game which had Jack Sparrow and other Disney characters).

The fact that Jack Sparrow is actually going to be running around doing stuff and not just being a glorified mascot is absolutely amazing!
I hope some of these mechanics and structures in the new islands will be carried out into the persistent multiplayer world, rather than just the instanced areas for the tales. It would be a shame to see all the love that went into these design just start collecting dust after everyone finishes playing during season 3.

I actually once found a book in the game saying that the Inferno, one eyed willies ship sailed through the shroud to the sea of thieves and that the captain was alive again.
And the book also started by saying, crushing death and grief, step with blood of the trespassing feet, which is what the map in the Goonies said.
Hopefully this isn’t short as hell, really wanna play sea of thieves again but the solo experience is draining of all joy and fun.
I mean, the update adds 5 tall tales and presumably a bunch more free roam content as well, so it would certainly make up for the recent drought
Also I believe the tall tales have replay value since you can ublock stuff from them.

I think the craziest thing is that this was announced a week ago, starts today, and somehow was kept a secret for 2 years. So awesome, finished season 2 just an hour before reset but I bet I finish season 3 in a few weeks if not sooner. "To the sea of thieves, quick as you like. Chop chop."

So, you guys made an AI crewmate? Are you/will you consider adding hireable or unlockable AI crewmates to fill in the extra slots? Just imagine, even with a galleon 4 players don't feel like enough. 8 canons, 3 decks, 3 sails, multiple holes that would need patching. Could be pretty overwhelming without good teamwork. So having a few AI crewmates would make things feel more lively and smooth. Please at least consider the implications of this idea.

Was excited, only to find out that the second tall tale is not instanced, requires you to be the first in the server, and the tale glitches at every point; ultimately keeping players from completing it. You can't have 1 server for 5-6 groups and only allow one group to complete the tall tale while everyone else has to leave and find a fresh server and hope that they can complete it without any bugs. Instance this tall tale as you swim down initially and you've resolved the issue.

im so excited. thx RARE. I hope we can play soon today. But it kinda sucks that the Tall Tales in Sea of Thieves take so much time and if you dont finish it and you wanna keep playing another time youll need to start all again.
I really hope there is content in free play that isn't limited to the tall tails.
The tall tails are cool and all. But they aren't particularly replayable in my opinion. The most fun comes from the emergent gameplay and random events that happen around the world. I really hope they have paid attention to that instead of just focusing all in on the tall tails and the rest of the game stays the same.
All the new enemy types are coming to the normal Adventure mode too. In the video we see the ocean crawlers on an island,(18:20) the siren's attacking a random shipwreck, (18:30) and the ghosts on a fort. (18:38) That alone is going to shake up the meta a bit.
Regarding things like world events, it's possible the giant mermaid statue will be one, or repurposed as one later. The Davy Jones cloud we see in the video could also be a world event for all we know.

I absolutely love those new ship models! It would be such a waste, if they'd only appear as a part of the tall tales and wouldn't be added as new ship models we could actually use in the open world (please add this in the next season)...

We know they already have the software to portray our characters as skeletons - couldn't be too difficult to work that into an Aztec Gold curse, which would be awesome. Let's wait and see what happens. 🤞
