P3S Guide - Pandaemonium Asphodelos Savage - Third Circle

- An animated guide to the fight P3S in Final Fantasy FFXIV.
My original version of this guide had a few mistakes and missed out on some key details that make the fight easier. If you've already seen my original guide, the main changes are to add phase, Fountain of Fire, and Firestorms of Asphodelos (including a breakdown of Elmo strat).

"17:25 Cat" A difficult mechanic I find myself contending with often.
These have been my go to guides for this tier. The simple animated style makes it much easier for my brain to understand what is going on. It's also been super amazing that you create updated guides!
I appreciate that you do not rush through the mechanics and give each one enough explanation to understand the strat(s) and the mechanic itself.
I can not stress enough how much I loved this, thank you. And the boss icon kills me, it's so good
I prefer your guides to pretty much every creators I've checked, the format works very well and you're not waffling for too long on one thing, it's super easy to follow and pin in your raid chans as a resource
I really hope you stick to this with future tiers and content 'cause I think you're the hero PF needs!

I love how the fight has uncannily similar yet executed differently mechanics from T12, Suzaku, and Aglaia since it's a failed firebird creation.

One thing that could take this to another level for me is some contextual footage for things like tells. You definitely have enough space in between explanations to include them

This is the best way to my make a guide imo, gameplay just too much distraction to focus on what you actually need and know to do.
One small thing with fledgling flight aoe cones, they are about 90 degrees in size.
Doesn't change any strats but the vid cone sizes implies you can stand directly in front of 1 add with 2 stacks of death's cone, which you can't as all 4 cones will hit in a large diamond area between them.

you are the only person who has any reference for the elmo strat that i have found but pf is religious about it and my static insists we learn the pf strats this tier. THANK. YOU. FOR. THIS.
I've met people who despise Elmo strat because of the risk of someone baiting two proteans at the group, but I've personally never had this happen. Glad you found this useful!
You need to start making guides with the markers people use in fights... all the fights have different markers and stacks from yours it's so annoying

Hector, at 15:12 your pizza pie direction is wrong. You made it clockwise while the in-game mechanic is actually counter-clockwise.
Good catch! I must have coded the animation backwards. Hopefully it hasn’t confused too many people.
There is a safer way to do Fountain of Fire that doesn't require anyone but the tanks to go centre. You cannot get two AOE's so if the tanks are centre to bait the first then move out, the melee only need be closer to the boss than the ranged to get theirs, and the ranged will be automatically targeted third as long as they are closer than the healers. As summoner I go to the place I am going to drop my AOE, and stand just back so I am in the healer circle when it spawns. I adjust to avoid the melee and the AOE automatically targets me third and I can just go to my spot when the melee's AOE goes off.

may I ask why we split into T/R and H/M groups for gloryplume? thank you
Gloryplume is normally done T/M, H/R, as the boss follows the main tank and so this allows all tanks and melees to get full uptime.
T/R, H/M is usually only done for firestorms, as the boss stays do middle and so this split makes it much easier for the tanks and melees to keep uptime in the event of a spread.

Great guide! But can someone explain to me what the hell the PF descriptions mean? Like "t/h left, dps right, h/r south, t/m north, h/m right facing tornado, elmo" And the most common one I see "14, 23- MTR KB facing Nado TR-L, HM-R | Divebomb TH"

T/H left, DPS right - This is for the divebomb; facing the bird, tanks/healers spread left, DPS spread right (opposite of how it's shown in my guide)
h/r south, t/m north - This is for experimental gloryplume. Exactly as shown in the guide, Healers and ranged head south for the shiva part and then spread/stack. Tanks/melees do the same in the north
Elmo - This is the tank invuln strat for storms of asphodelos. Tanks take nearly every mechanic with invuln, while everyone else baits the final cleave from middle.
MTR - order for fountain of fire, melees bait first, then tanks, then ranged
KB facing Nado TR-L, HM-R - This is for the knockback at the end of darkblaze twister. If you're facing the tornado you're getting knocked back by, tanks and ranged rotate left for their knockback, healers and melees rotate right.
Not 100% sure on the rest. I think 14,23 refers to darkened fire, but I don't understand what it's referring to.

How accurate is that donut size for the donadoes? If it's accurate, couldn't you use arm's/sure to ignore the KB (assuming arm's/sure works on that KB) next to the dark tornado? I haven't gotten to this point in the fight yet so I haven't tested it
Fairly accurate. I haven't tested whether arm's length works for this knockback, but that's definitely a possibility.

question wont dps or healer take aggro from the big adds if tanks turn off tank stance?
Aggro from the small birds stays for the big birds. As long as the tanks do the small bird section with tank stance on, they will have an insurmountable aggro lead over any dps and healers. The only person who could possibly steal aggro: a tank with stance on.
@@starjadian Not at all! Tank stance gives a x10 multiplier to aggro built for the tank. As long as they've attacked each of their small birds a few times, they can turn their stance off for big birds and no one will be able to rip aggro from them.

are the "hard hitting raidwides" in add phase like shining cells/slam shut/deluge where you need to shield the party?
While they may not kill outright depending on your gear, because the fire-rain is constantly doing damage, there's a decent chance that someone will die to the first tick of fire rain damage without quick heals or a few 10% mits.
why is the strat called "elmo" ?
The image that was passed around originally showcasing the strat had Elmo from Sesame street firing the cleave from each tornado.

I totally get this. This fight is a huge jump up in difficulty from the first two and will definitely be a wall for a number of party finder groups. If you can keep powering through, the feeling of downing that bird is definitely worth it!
EDIT: Update: I've had the entire tier on farm for quite a while now. It wasn't so bad.
Idk what I'm gonna do. It was hard enough to find a consistent group of people to do p1s and p2s without having that one fucking guy make a tiny mistake that wipes the groups. I just know that add phase is going to be a meme fest..
@@HectorHectorson furthest I’ve gotten is Fire Nado’s, but FoF continues to be a challenge just to get through because of the amount of coordination. The fight is way too brutal. If they could tone down the amount of full group mechanics that would be great. I don’t play for difficulty or challenge, I just want to have fun with my friends and get cool rewards, but wiping so late in the fight because of lag, minor mess ups, etc etc it just ruins the experience.
I wish they'd just tone it down just a *little* bit. Maybe I am naive, but I feel this fight has no business being as difficult as it is being the 3rd fight in the tier. It's incredibly defeating.
@@nickh5021 This entire tier was cleared on release day. It took 16 hours. I don't think we should be calling for nerfs. There is a *plethora* of less challenging content for more casual players, which is the vast overwhelming majority of the game.

PLEASE!! I'm SORRY! Your FoF section is ruining Party Finder! You need to (1) Show the entire thing with all roles (not just broken down), and (2) Show a Part B with the entire thing rotated clockwise because you seem to gloss over the fact this entire thing can happen two ways and it fucks people up!!
