I’ve had a few of these. Love em. Also the pre diversion was a lovely ride too. I also had a xj900 diversion which really was fantastic up hills! Pulled really well.
Lovely vid this, will be picking up a 97 model XJ 600N this evening. Sometimes though its cool to have older cars or bikes, something with less tech / computers but more mechanical.
Ive always wanted a Seca II, that's what is called in my country and y just bought one with 9000 miles for a really good price in mint condition, greetings
I bought one years ago, no pick up in the rev range, no fun at all. It was like driving a dull family 1.6 ford focus. Luckily the dealer I bought it from split the front fairing up, underneath the headlight while trying to fit a bulb. I had a full refund, and I thanked my lucky stars I was rid of it. 😂
Awwww yeah, no rev range at all really. I think MCN called it the Diesel Vauxhall Corsa of the bike world. It’s quite nice to have a simple predictable motor though. Look how many Danville’s were sold!
Mine ticks too. I understand its from the valve train. It gotten even a bit more noticeable after i did the valve clearances and most of them were so so very tight.
I have one in the same colour with 9000miles on it T plate 1999 i think, the bikes not bad one owner and never had an MOT so i dont know what im going to discover. The exhaust is rusted out as its been sat for ages. Ive cleaned the carbs and had it fire up but with no exhaust it upsets the long haired general lol. Looking forward to more content.
Hey buddy guess what? I just bought one myself. So been sitting so went through the tank carbs and a new strong battery so it’s been starting and running all of a sudden next time I tried to start it I was getting this buzzing sound coming from the brain under the seat, so I bought on just to see if it is the problem. So far new tires plugs oil etc. put a new battery now electrical probs! I’m new so I can use all the advice I can get. Good riding my friend
Check your sidestand switch and neutral switch. There are very few things to go wrong and are very easy to get to and check. Just look up the service manual. Check and clean all the contacts. Betcha it'll work great.
I have one the same for 8yrs 24ooo. Miles spent nothing on it. Oil change every 2yrs . Don't start easy if left for 2weeks . Then it's fine if I run every week
I sold my Harley
Stopped riding for a while then bought a xj 900 I love it heaps better to ride than the Harley any day

Ah cool! Thanks for the nice comments too! Enjoy your XJ! Yeah, thee is a certain charm isn't there.
I have a 1996 one and I like it with all its quarks. It rattles, it pops, it crackles, but most importantly, it works. So far
I bought one too last year November 2023 in Germany . Currently in Cameroon. I think is a great bike❤

Looking forward to seeing your progress and picking up a few tips, as I probably need to do many of the same things on my XJ600
Neighbor gave me his, front caliper was seized up and the gas tank was rusty. Restored them and loving it as my first bike.

Oh that sounds interesting! What are you plans for it? Full resto or get it running and ride?

Is that black widow a twin exhaust like the stock or is it just one? Solid bikes
Yeah, it's a twin 👍
