Hike through a primeval island forest as we observe old-growth trees, strange types of fungi, unusual insects, and one beautiful dusky pygmy rattlesnake. Photos by Jennifer. Recorded at Hontoon Island State Park July 2012.

I have always wondered if it was worth learning to identify mushrooms in Central Florida so that you might be able to eat some. Assuming there are edible varieties.

Cool looking snake. Nice video quality too, unlike mine. lol. Lots of cool stuff; mushrooms, insects, insects on insects... What was the little orange fruit?
    Thanks for sharing!

There are tons of edible varieties of plants and fungi here, just keep in mind that foraging is not for everyone because of the potentially fatal consequences of a mistake. Be sure to learn from a professional! That being said, I enjoy foraging here greatly. Not every state has wild edibles year round :)
