Terre d'Hermes Fragrance Review (2006)

  • Notes From Fragrantica:
"Terre d’Hermès: conceived in 2006 by Jean-Claude Ellena, Terre d’Hermès is a metaphor for materials, a matrix that speaks of territory as well as matter, earth, and roots. This vertically structured scent is based on an alchemy of wood, the scent first introduces the gaity of orange, the bitterness of grapefruit and the vivacity of pepper and of fresh spices. This “vegetality” flirts with the mineral effect of flint and the coarseness of vetiver. Dominated by cedar, the fragrance goes deeper with the sweetness of resins and the impalpable voluptuousness of benzoin "

Great bro, you finally scored! And I'm happy to see that you do, as I am myself, appreciate the EdT over the EdP.
Do yourself a favor and do not buy the parfum version of Fahrenheit, it's terrible, smells like Fahrenheit in which one has put extremely strong and bitter black tea, mixed with synthetic vanilla.
Take a rest, and then keep the great work going!
    Best regards from Germany, Dan.

Beautiful fragrance is right. i watched the reviews and went to sample it. Where i live the sales reps almost never allow you to sample on your skin. So at first sniff I was like WTF! How can these reviewers have this in such high esteem. But after watching review after review i went back to sample it, thinking something was wrong with my nose. This time, while spraying on the strip, some got on my hands. Same negative reaction. I was like those UA-cam reviwers are insane to like this. I spent some time shopping around in the mall, and when i dipped into my pocket to get my car keys if felt the fragrance strips in my pocket that I left. When i took then out to give them another sniff, I smelt the Terre d'Hermes on my hand...Wow oh Wow!!! This was what the reviewers were talking about. I went home and purchased it online immediately. It's now one of my favourite scents

This is the review that I have been waiting for but I'm looking forward to the in depth review, because this is one of the best three fragrances in my collection along with Pure Malt and LIDGE (reformulated) which I'm hoping you will be reviewing some day, thank you very much and keep up the good work...

I spent $1700 in the past two months on frags. Now, with hundreds of samples and frags bought with eagle eyes at amazing low prices, I can't do it anymore and do not know how the frag guys can keep going and going and going. I have so much juice.... wtf? I am tending to lean toward the heavier mid-eastern scents and am eagerly awaiting Sultan Pasha's attars in the mail that I ordered 6 weeks ago. After those 25 attars, I will be more than satisfied to go to the FB page and unload a large amount of my collection that I won't use or trade them off at my loss. But, bitcoin to the rescue! I do understand, Joy, how it must get tiring to do reviews a lot and I have learned quite a lot from you after looking at most of your vids. I'll find you on FB and offer you some of the shiz I have that I think you may like at rock-bottom prices (or trades maybe)??? Thanks for this review. Hermes is one of the finest frags I appreciate and it always gets me compliments. Perfect for applying before sex. This is a serious frag for mature men. And it grows on you like a fat chub that won't quit. Not for men under 25. Manly, not metrosexual. Masculine and not for manginas or white knights or simps or emos.

I own Terre d'Hermes and I'm 19, later this year turn 20 :). Manly masculine gentleman.... Not for simps or emos or white knights, you are right man. Good comment. Yep, its crazy.... too much juice, stop buying so crazy :D

If you can afford to spend this much in 2 months it makes no sense to dump it all so soon for little money. Enjoy your collection for the next 12 months and go from there. You can easily change your mind about plenty of fragrances. Be glad you reached this point so soon before it's really too late, it's madness 🙂

Good review brother ! TdH is class ! My father loves this , he wears it almost all the time (except when we go out to eat or something) .He said you need to be confident (confident , not cocky) and you'll rock this one. I'm 21 and i love it ( my father doesn't even let me use his TdH lol) so i buy decant :( . Hope i'll buy the full bottle soon . Oh , and don't get too crazy on the spray if you live in really hot country as it can get a tad annoying to some . Just my 2¢ .

I love the opening of TDH! One summer I was working for this old man who kept buckets of over ripe oranges in his garage (he had an orange tree in his backyard and it produced so many he couldn't possibly eat them, so he'd just throw them out or give them away)...and the opening of TDH smells exactly like the scent of that old man's garage. It's smells like the produce isle of a grocery store that has very ripe blood oranges. I love how earthy this fragrance is.

This is my second comment, brother you make great reviews but one thing that is consistent in most of your videos(or at least the ones that I've watched) you are always tired, burnt, sleepy, sick, depressed, etc. State of mind/mood also affects the viewer especially when the video is in one to one format. I don't mean to offend, forgive me if I did.

That orange and pepper mix in the opening kind of bothers me a bit. Which is weird because I like orange as a note. But 5 to 10 minutes later it settles a bit and smells amazing. I love the vetiver in this . i v ordered a tester 100ml for 50 euros .i think it was a good deal.Very long lasting frag with good projection for cold weather.

Oh man, first time I tried long time ago I didn't like it. It felt bitter, earthy, almost offputing. But from time to time I tried it at the shops. After almost 10 years, I finally started appreciating its quality, definitely top10 men fragrances. But more for mature guys, also you have to like vetiver as fragrance note.

I got it :) yes. Terre d'Hermes. EDT. High quality Jean Claude Ellena classic fragrance. In my collection. It's mature serious and strong manly scent, but its light performance or projection for me, Joy. Maybe reformulation. But thats ok. It's light summer+spring+some autumn, scent. for me. In my country.

I just got this as a sample today and felt like the opening smelled very herb like...almost like oregano. I do smell the orange and citrus in it, but I'm not sure I like the opening too much. As it dries down it gets more powdery on my skin. It smells better on the dry down, but I'm not too sure about this one.

    DON"T BLIIND BUY.
I think it's important, as you do, to comment/warn on the opening of Terre de Hermes, which I find challenging, as you suggest. A dirty-orange; fish sauce vibe ...
However, hang-around, be patient ... the challenging opening will settle to a very clean and warm dry-down. Test it on your skin first. Take it home. Wait. Judge for yourself.
