@@antoinegezod I tried with japanese dub at first, but the lack of japanese lip sync really threw me off. So I changed it to english dub pretty early on, around the first fight with khotun khan. The english voice acting in this game is elite, don't knock it

Honestly, Tomotsugu is the only ronin boss that has my respect. He didn't try to insult Jin or anything, and he was being sincere about the fight. He had his own code and wasn't afraid to stand for it. It's a shame Jin had to kill him, he would've made a good samurai.
they were all fairly respectable, only the first one even taunted him.
And yet he was one of the more tougher Straw Hat Ronin who really gave you a run for your money. It just goes to show you to not take kindness for weakness.

The drowning marsh ronin literally kidnaps a dude hoping to find you, that’s pretty dishonorable but considering he didn’t kill him and seemingly didn’t harm him he strikes me as more of a coward than evil.
the waterfall ronin was completely non chalant about the whole ordeal, seeing it as a mere job that has to be done. Idk if it’s said they’re being paid but I wouldn’t doubt he was. All and all he’s pretty honorable because he doesn’t boast or take any pleasure in it, it’s just business
the crashing waves ronin was completely honorable, he’s the only one Jin tried to reason with but the ronin was honor bound to fight to the death and he does so. He also has my full respect
the spider lily ronin on the other hand seems to be in it for personal reasons. He seems like he may have been close with Ryuzo at one point and maybe wanted to see if his stories of Jin held up. He comes off as kind of cocky imo but he’s not exactly dishonorable, but not honorable either
and finally, the autumn leaves robin is the most evil of all. He literally leaves a trail of dead civilians for Jin to follow. He takes full pleasure in killing and only killed civilians like a coward, he’s fully dishonorable
The Ronin have by far been the most challenging and fun duels so far through my playthrough.
They also make some gorgeous cinematic shots if you hit camera mode during a sword clash.

The Dance of Wrath makes for some epic shots.
I found them all to easy. Moon stance charged heavy into charged water stance into stone stance charged heavy. Rinse and repeat you won’t even get a sword swung on you.
The oni fight for the longbow was fun as hell. And the last ronin fight too. Died like 100 times together lol.
Of all the duels with the Ronin, Tomotsugu's actually saddened me.

Fun fact: Kojiro is actually the arch rival of the legendary ronin Miyamoto Musashi. Sasaki Kojiro was a real person who was one of the few on the same level as Musashi, who never lost a duel. Kojiro lost to the best swordsman in Japan, and in Ghost he loses to the best swordsman in Tsushima. Wonderful reference on the part of the devs.
For any anime Ragnorok fans…keep in mind, Kojiro beat Poseidon👀👌🏾.

Are they hard on easy? Cuz i beat the game on lethal and wanted to die from these fights but my brother is playing through on easy and he is really cocky and i want him to get his ass handed to him
It’s easy when you learn their moves. Every swordsman duel in this game is the exact same, you just gonna pay attention to their moves.

It's done out of respect for the slain warrior. That moment makes these duels so great and tragic.
They added that as a normal sheath animation now you can do it anytime you have blood on your sword.
I always loved how it shows Jin using his thumb to start unsheathing his sword before every duel
You should watch more Japanese samurai films. They did that in every single one of them.

Tomotsugu is simply the most respectable among any of those Ronin. Sad, he could've been a good Ally.
Fun fact, the way Jin spins and sheaths the blade after each of the five duels before Kojiro is called a Katori-ryū chiburi. Chiburi is the act of shaking the blood off the sword, such as when he sometimes swings the blade to the side when you do a manual blade sheathing after fighting enemies. I'm on the last act of the game and done almost everything at this point and so far these five duels are the ONLY time I've seen this unique chiburi in the entire game, this chiburi is unique to the Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū. The wide swinging one called an "O-Chiburi" and rather common to various schools..I only recently learned about the art of chiburi about three weeks before the game even came out as I was looking at video game and anime iaido vids and went on a learning spree..so far this is the ONLY time outside of demonstration vids for that school that I've seen that chiburi in anything.

I like how three of them were honourable, and three of them dishonourable. The one fishing, the one under the waterfall and the one in the flowers were quite honourable, but the guy who took a hostage, the guy who killed people waiting for you and the final one were all dishonourable
damn thats nice.
Interesting to note each one’s different personalities with the first one thinking he’s better than all others, the second one who just wanted to get the fight over with barely spoke, the third being the most respectable one, the fourth one who wanted a good fight but acknowledged Jin’s skill, and then we got the murderous one (the only one that almost killed me).
Tomotsugu could have easily been an ally if the circumstances were different, he respects jin and he is a great swordsman
You see, what I like about these fights is that its actaully a challenge instead of just you mindlessly lowering a bosses health. They feel like real opponents, not some programmed AI. This game will be remembered where its developers actaully took the time to create a flawless game. Thank you developers

4:51 - my least favorite one. Really didn’t want to kill him. Seemed like a very respectable and honorable foe. In another life, he could have been a great ally. I believe it’s the only one where Lord Sakai offers multiple times to walk away.
Mongols < Ronin in terms of difficulty
Imo khoutun khan was the second most difficult enemy in the game

1. Ronin cause they're good at swords
2. Mongol leaders cause they're tanks and semi smart
3. Triple shot archers/tomoe's archers cause they're annoying when you deal with the other enemies
4. Double sword bois cause attacks are hard to parry
Kojiro was by far the hardest fight for me. I didn’t die once in any of the other duels, but he killed me five times before I got it down. He really feels like a combination of every other duel.

I don't think any game has made me feel like I was in an actual duel more than that Kojiro fight.
I mean an actual duel is usually just who strikes first. Not a long boss fight, so the standoffs are probably closer to a real duel. Not as entertaining tho :)
It's SO satisfying if you managed to kill using a Perfect Parry or the Heavenly Strike. Along with the music, it makes you a total badass.

I'm pretty sure the fight with Kojiro is actually a easter egg/nod to the 47 Ronin movie when they go to acquire swords from the Tengu demons in the forest. The temple looks identical and the whole "demonic blessed weaponry/gear" aspect is held in both this and the movie.

such a beautiful stylized game. the cinematography is amazing - it's like watching a movie, with atmospheric music and lighting. I love these encounters. I really appreciate the camera angles as well. SP have done an outstanding job with this game. It will be a classic

The way Jin flicks his katana to start the fight and the elegance when sheathing it and the end is so satisfying.
Man this game is so beautiful . Just beat Kojiro on hard mode yesterday, that fight was FAST paced.(Compared to my medium difficulty playthrough anyway)So satisfying and smooth looking when you get the timing right on the parries and dodges in a fight like that.
I love this video, not just for the cool duels, but to see how the player progresses in their skill. They start sloppy at first, but you can tell how familiar they are becoming with the style.

I love the duels. Im so glad I can replay them as much as i want after beating the main story.
4:18 Love the flow of this parry. Just after taking damage the combat gets tense. After a flurry of strikes the target steps out of range, already poised to strike. You can feel the rush before the player deflects the incoming stab at the last moment. Not to mention the immersive motion capture that pulls off the weight and momentum realistically.

Im glad I have save files for all my favorite duels in the game. The combat in this game is awesome.
I can never get enough of the combat of this game. When all the boss fights were over I just wanted more.
It would be cool if they put in a gauntlet mode. Either for duels or swarms of enemies. Or if they wanted to be really creative two-on-one duels or duels with legendary samurai.
Duel under the autumn leaves reminded me of the training with uncle. These battles were so cool.
Sad to say that the horse is disagreeing on the duel.
Damn, I keep on forgetting this is a video game. It has these epic cinematic sequences and gorgeous landscapes for photo mode. Those lighting and petals/leaves are sexc.
Not sure if anyone will see this but I found doing six blades of kojiro and unbreakable gosaku simultaneously is quite effective. Before each ronin duel, I would stealth one of the farmsteads , this meant that I could walk into the duel with full health full resolve and ghost stance at the ready. Finished both mythic tales in under two hours . Hope this helps a new player somewhere 😁

I remember finding these by accident. I didn’t know what they were for until I found the legend quest for the armor. I only had one Ronin to deal with at the time I found it and it was the hardest one yet for me. But when I won god I felt so much achievement getting the armor.
Thanks to Sekiro I’ve mastered the art of parrying and these ronin were very fun to fight in my opinion.
2:05 I just watched another player's video of this fight and didn't realise it was the same one. Because the light was different and their approach to the duel led to a different response from the enemy. The emergent gameplay of this game really is wonderful.

This game takes place about 400 years before musashi is even born.
@Evan Q Different sources, different opinions, one guy says musashi killed kojiro in his last duel, the other that musashi was Born 400 years later after invasion on tsushima, and i honesty stay with the guy saying that musashi killed kojiro, history says so, games says so, movies says so. Dont want to argue over anything, but its scientifically impossible for musashi to be Born 400 years later because then his fight with kojiro who would be an Old man barely holding his sword honor less and proved to be fiction, because musashi did slay kojiro, they were almost same age, maybe kojiro was 30-40 and musashi 20-30. That said assuming that musashi was Born after 400 years means nothing, because game is not Real history. Same with nobunaga Oda, why has he made it to the games? Because he was reffered to as demon King and tyrant Perfect antagonist, in not a single game is nobunaga a marvelous strategist and a legendarny swordsman who alone could defeat many, something like guts for the berserk anime. Game devs chose nobunaga because his tax rising was exagerated, he raised more taxes than other lords, but he was respected for his genius, and yet in game she is Just a psychopath who wants to kill only. So Just because a historic figure appears in a game doesnt mean that they actually were Born in the age the game takes place, so dont seperate kojiro-musashi duel based off of a game where one character appears as you said "400 years" before he was killed by musashi because you"ll be taken as a joke by someone like you Just got taken as a joke by me.

For anyone who needs help evading the unblockable sword attack that they dig into the ground and do I spin before attacking. You have to dodge towards the attacker to avoid it.

Korijo took me like six tries but the fights were so amazing.
Truly one of the best looking games out there.
I stumbled on the first one by accident, didn't know it was part of a larger quest until Jin mentions accepting Kojiros challenge without realizing it. But it's cool that the game didn't stop me from doing it just because the quest itself hadn't been activated yet.
Also, fun little tip that I've seen so few people notice. When in a duel and your opponent sheathes their sword if you run up on them quickly enough you can get some free hits in before they go for that unblockable move.
KANETOMO was the toughest out of all of them when I played it. But by the looks of it you are on your second run through levels above.
Very aggressive fighter which actually suits his personality, kiyochica was the easiest for me he is incredibly slow and he telegraphs every single strike but if he touches you he does the most damage out of all of them, maybe he is actually more of an archer because he has an archer's straw hat and the second hardest for me was hirotsune because he is more of a brawler a lot of red attacks and i am used to parrying instead of dodging
Oh, I love this game so much! The look and sound with the great musical score and the fact that japanese talents also giving there voices for the english version, so great! And all these fine little details, like the blood flipping off his sword before putting it back, so nice! What a great masterpiece this is. I`m playing the remastered PS5 Version.
SUPERB Movement!!! That Supple lower weave to avoid Sakai's sword revolve at 2:28 is immaculate! They nailed the combat down to a T!

By the time I activated the quest for the armor I already fought 4 of them haha but I struggled a lil bit finding the remaining two.
I love how different they all are. Some are psychos with lots of dead bodies laying around. Others are just chilling fishing lol

I loved all the duels
Not bad. One recomendation: Try to carry out more heavy attacks, you will break faster your enemies guard.
2. USE the relented attack as far as you have the opportunity. It will confuss the enemy, and you will have more time to do another attack
3. I also have no hesitation in recommending you to avoid use a fast attack for a third time. It won't be worth enough.
The last duel (Kojiro) absolutely bodied me at least 20 times before I was able to kill him. I don’t think I unlocked the ability to parry the blue glints during this duel and that made it extremely difficult
I was able to beat Kojiro with 1 try on Hard, but there's a reason for that. The 2 hardest Ronin duels in my opinion, The Duel of Crashing Waves and The Duel Under Autumn Leaves were sort of proto-Koniro's. The Autumn Leaves Duel in particular felt like Kojiro lite edition lol. I must've died a total of 10 times each from those 2 duels. But they're definitely good practice for the final boss.

Every time they sheath their sword they’re about do an unblockable, that means DODGE. Especially if you’re not close enough to interrupt it
I usually just interrupt them with a normal attack or heavenly strike.
I thought the “Girls boys chicken” guy is one of em cause he’s one of the 3 Ronin boss fight I had before I even learn of Kojiro’s tale.
Ikr I was looking for the last duel to do for the complete all duels trophy. And then I do this story mission and there's some random nerd wanting to fight me and he was probably the easiest out of all the ronin 😂

I came to these duels wearing the Sarugami Armor and I was a God! A Sword Saint! I faced all of them without a single scratch on me. These duels are wonderful but I wish there was more duels like this!
It's only take 1 blow to cut anything, but this duel so many blow...everything in pieces.
