Best preview video out there... Very well structured, very informative... I think I might just pre-order... Last lords of the fallen was good for me (even though the combat was slow). What I didn't liked in the previous one was the camera shake... Couldn't play it that much... The world of this new one, the parry system and the multiple classes are things I see as positive. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tips&tricks/advice! Played the original LORDS OF THE FALLEN, and I really enjoyed it so to see a new one coming out with full on customization, and building of characters with tons of gear choices makes me even more hyped for this game, especially since it's the 1st souls other than Code Vein with a proper multiplayer.

Regarding finding 20+ armor sets in 2 hours.. I would really prefer way fewer but more unique armor/weapons. Having to get tons of similar or lower level equipment and having to constantly manage your inventory isn’t fun IMO. But awesome indepth preview and can’t wait to get on day 1 (Fingers crossed it’s not plagued with performance issues 🙂)
Things like this are normally adjusted for demos and slices of gameplay for previews. Elden Ring's network test item placement was the same, where they had a higher starting level character and lots of good items found in literally two hours of gameplay. This was then adjusted back to normal for the release of the game, it's to show off some of the equipment, etc.
I've only ever pre-ordered two things, and it will be three when Elden Ring's dlc becomes available. Shadow of War because I loved the first game. I loved the second game even more than the first, even though the microtransactions should have never been in the game in the first place even if they removed them later on. I also just pre-ordered Lies of P and wasn't disappointed either. Loved the demo and saw the good reviews from people I normally agree with, so I bought it.
I'm on an 8 core amd, 3060ti, pretty damn decent - I'm getting solid 60 fps 1440p at all high settings and with cpu temps only around 80 degrees - 20 seconds of stutter loading the very first area, but apart from that has been super smooth, no crashing, lots of dying lol I'm REALLY loving this game, it's scratching my darksouls itch so damn hard, the enemies are crazy aggressive and punishing, and it's a lot of fun exploring the 2 different worlds + umbral is low key creepy af - I love it, I love it, I love it, who knows if the combat will get much better, or the magic etc etc it's the studio's first game and they've captured a darksouls feel REAALLLL nice imo I'm super happy to play it, and I hope they have good success with this so we get more like it - btw haven't been doing online play cos jeenine/steelovsky both said it's pretty broken, hopefully hexworks can get it fixed cos they got a reaaalllll nice game here
Super stoked for this game. My most anticipated game of this year no question. I love the axiom/umbral shifting mechanic. Getting some Guacamelee vibes which made some of the later platforming very challenging as you were toggling between the 2 worlds Will there be a necromancer class?
alright my mind is changed, the animations still look kinda janky to me and im still a bit apprehensive, but this game is looking super cool. definitely not gonna preorder but ill be keeping a close eye on it, if its good and runs well on release ill probly check it out and play the hell out of it.

Especially because, although I love souls games, I kinda suck at them sometimes, so the coop system is always welcomed. I hope that people realize that the first game was made by a different developer. Deck 13. They made surge and surge 2. And they made the new atlas fallen. Which came out yesterday. And its looking like another horrible game. 10 hour campaign and full of bugs and horrible combat. Thats Too bad but deck 13 keeps making bad games. One after another. Im really glad that a brand new developer took over this game. It's not a remake of the first game. It is a completely different game. Made by new developers. Its been given the time and attention it needs to be a great game. Im really looking forward too this game. And think its gonna be a game of the year contender. It is looking amazing soo far. Now able to create your own class and character and create your own adventure. I cant wait. I feel like its going to be an amazing game. A day one purchase for me. And its looking like a 60 plus hour campaign. Just the straight campaign play thur. Not counting the side quests and exploration and 2 worlds to explore. Oneof the living and one of the dead. Man oct 13 2023 cant come soon enough!
gaming is so inovating that we finally can make soul reaver for the ps1 again. looks cool tho and elden ring dlc is probably far into next year. im probably getting this.
I usually always go melee in these kinda games but the magic does look super interesting. Might have to do a paladin or fire battle mage type of archetypes for this. I cant decide lol
well for me your criticism are actually pros for me :D if the game is hard it is great! being able to fly past the game in few hours is just bad.. games are too easy in current times
You mentioned that Umbral caters to the Necromancer and Death Knight fantasy. Are the "manifestation" spells temporary or can you have permanent companions? I realize this could be more late game stuff but I still wanted to ask about it. Also, great video! One of the only two previews that actually go heavily in-depth, at least from what I've found. Thank you!
Other than the general things everyone hopes for this game, I really hope that modding community will be good and alive, especially it being on a super popular UE5 it would take like a couple of super talented modders to iron out some of jank. Also I hope that they heard communities feedback on sound design, because it was kinda bad tbh, that hammer impact sound for example sounds like punching a punching bag with cheap, new boxing gloves.
This game looks really amazing. The umbral mechanic kinda reminds me of Demon’s Souls with the fractured world/pure tendency worlds, only it looks way better than that crappy mechanic in Demon’s Souls.
Never played the original couple questions. When you die die, do you just go back to the checkpoint or is the game over? Does the magic regenerate or do you carry items to get your magic back? Health, do you only have a set amount like souls games like a pot or is it just healing items that you can buy?
For what I’m seeing, my only complaint is the way you move when attacking. I’m no saying that is clonky but looks weird. But I guess I’ll get used to it. Other than that, the game looks awesome. Hopefully this is another banger like Lies of P.
What stat or stars does Umbral magic scale with? Also can we expect a things you missed for this wild game keep up the great work Dom and Lydz much love
Umbral works very different to any other magic type and from what I understand, instead of scaling with a certain attribute, it actually costs Vigor to cast, and Vigor is your currency, like runes in Elden Ring 😊 I think a Things You Missed might be good for this game due to the open world/two world element 😁
@@DomsRoundtable I realized that after rewatching your video. So they function like the Resonant Soul hexes from DaS2? I wonder if there are any that scale with the amount of Vigor you have.
Gives me ds2 vibes but i spent ove 100 hrs in that game even though its my leasy favorite souls game. Ive pre ordered it through best buy cuz the steelbook is sick
I really hope the armor isnt very important (like Souls games). The first one emphasized armor a bit too much for me personally. Although I won't overly mind as long as there is transmogrification.
My biggest concern, while watching multiple videos is that many areas (specifically umbral) look very similar and have no discernible visual landmarks. I absolutely hate this, and am pretty concerned that you mentioned this as well. Looking forward to the game though.
Lets hope our pc/ handhelds/consoles can handle the Unreal Engine 5. Would suck big time if the devs not optimise every version of the game before release.
If you die (or choose to move to Umbral to explore), how to you get out? Do you collect your “souls” and leave or do you have an option to explore Umbral thoroughly to find unique “high risk/high reward” loot? What determines if you are done? Boss? End of places to explore? Is the umbral areas as big as axiom or just small sections to add some variety?
I saw where you can leave umbral at certain "Emergence Effiigies", so basically a specific spot. While in umbral, your “Dread meter” (eyeball icon) increases, which supposedly makes enemies more difficult the longer you remain there.
Seemless coop in Souls likes was already done back in 2019 by Remnant from the Ashes, the rest are just catching up , hopefully From Software will too since that is the biggest faults to their games the coop.
Thanks for a great overview, Dom. Question - has there been any chat about improving the combat audio, especially the sound fx's relating to weapons striking flesh, scales, armour etc.? As many will be aware, watching preview gameplay over the last while has highlighted this being an issue/cause of concern. Everything sounds really muted and lacking impact and visceral edge.
Nice summary but I have a question about using the lamp against bosses. Watched another video where they mentioned using the lamp on the big toothy boss to pull out a soul tadpole or something?
Dont know what to expect from this but the fact its a souls like game with soul reaver realm shifting mechanics its definitely peaked my interest

Best cover up video of this game. Great job.
gaming is so inovating that we finally can make soul reaver for the ps1 again. looks cool tho and elden ring dlc is probably far into next year. im probably getting this.
I usually always go melee in these kinda games but the magic does look super interesting. Might have to do a paladin or fire battle mage type of archetypes for this. I cant decide lol
So excited! Thanks for putting this info together for us!!!
well for me your criticism are actually pros for me :D if the game is hard it is great! being able to fly past the game in few hours is just bad.. games are too easy in current times
Great video Dom. Your fast becoming one of my favourite you tubers!
Great video. Will definitely check it out
You mentioned that Umbral caters to the Necromancer and Death Knight fantasy.
Looks dope!
this is the best game of the year I want ;d
Finally...
*Dark Souls 4*
Never played the original couple questions. When you die die, do you just go back to the checkpoint or is the game over? Does the magic regenerate or do you carry items to get your magic back? Health, do you only have a set amount like souls games like a pot or is it just healing items that you can buy?
For what I’m seeing, my only complaint is the way you move when attacking. I’m no saying that is clonky but looks weird. But I guess I’ll get used to it. Other than that, the game looks awesome.
Hopefully this is another banger like Lies of P.
Great video. Would there be crossplay between ps5 and pc?
This game basically Oninika make love with Elden Ring.
I'm more excited for this one now.
You’re gonna make me prec*m oops I mean preorder 🤪😆 I’m so excited
So hype for the pvp
What stat or stars does Umbral magic scale with? Also can we expect a things you missed for this wild game keep up the great work Dom and Lydz much love
I assume that it will act like hexes in DaS2 and require both Radiance and Infernal.
@@cordyceps182 thats what I'm thinking as well just waited to know for sure
Umbral works very different to any other magic type and from what I understand, instead of scaling with a certain attribute, it actually costs Vigor to cast, and Vigor is your currency, like runes in Elden Ring 😊 I think a Things You Missed might be good for this game due to the open world/two world element 😁
@@DomsRoundtable I realized that after rewatching your video. So they function like the Resonant Soul hexes from DaS2? I wonder if there are any that scale with the amount of Vigor you have.
@@DomsRoundtable thanks for helping me understand can't wait for more keep up the awesome work
Gives me ds2 vibes but i spent ove 100 hrs in that game even though its my leasy favorite souls game. Ive pre ordered it through best buy cuz the steelbook is sick
I am interested in this so thankyou. After lies of P we got this 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Call me crazy but this looks fkn awesome... very Elden Ring esq. I had heard of it and was on the fence but Dom totally sold me. Im def in now.
Amazing 👑
You can slide down a ladder... I'm sold
Looks awesome, is this for all consoles, or just the Xbox series x and the PS5?
wow looks way better than I expected. I may actually get this.
The Withered Health Mech sounds just like Guard Regain in Lies of P (havent played Bloodborne)
Ppl don’t understand that fight clubs is a big part of these games and having a max player count of 3 is pretty lame….
I hope they let us change key bindings on PC.. I need my block/parry on R click, Sprint/jump on shift and Heavy attacks on Thumb button
Ooooo let’s go 🙏🏻
Seemless coop in Souls likes was already done back in 2019 by Remnant from the Ashes, the rest are just catching up , hopefully From Software will too since that is the biggest faults to their games the coop.
This exact question was asked by one of the players invited to play and the developers responded with them currently improving it
How do you regenerate mana and arrows, do they passively come back, from attacking, or only consumables?
Nice summary but I have a question about using the lamp against bosses. Watched another video where they mentioned using the lamp on the big toothy boss to pull out a soul tadpole or something?
I’m excited to play this game
Also I hope they fix some of you criticisms?
