Nevermind, for all those who want to do this: The latest version from app store is 10.8.4 :) - so we are good - at least that is what I downloaded and works out of the box with mlpostfactor on a macbook late 2006. - great video man!
Doru Brad Keyword being late not early. Of course you got this to work for you because you have a late 2006 mac. I on the other hand have an early 2006 mac so this video has been totally useless to me. I've been to 3 other videos same thing I wish they could tell me this before so I wouldn't bother trying it sucks that apple does not make it work for early iMacs.
Worked flawlessly. I didn't use a USB thumb but created that 8gig partition on the drive and just installed it directly on my existing lion partition and much to my surprise it upgraded it. You may not be so much so do back up of course. Thanks for a great video

I have regular Leopard and when I downloaded MLPostFactor it could not be read (application icon, with a white circle and line over the top). Do I need to update to Snow Leopard before trying this?
Some tips: you must download Mountain Lion on a Mac with supported hardware. Otherwise, the App Store will disallow it. When I tried on my iMac running Mavericks I received a warning, but was still able to download. You must also upgrade from OSX 10.7 Lion. Upgrading from Snow Leopard won't work. For installation purposes, the App Store version of ML as of May 2015 is 10.8.4. Be careful with setting up partitions and you can actually update the system. See previous posts for more info on those items. Otherwise, my late 2008 White "Penryn" MacBook 2.4Ghz/6G/240SSD is running ML like a champ! UPDATE: WAS running like a champ until I installed the 10.8.5 update. Now it won't boot and I have to start all over again. Wipe the disk, freshly installing Lion, Mountain Lion and all my apps. UPDATE(2): I cannot connect to the 802.1x network at my contract job, it continually drops and tries to re-authenticate every five seconds. Also, I cannot open the Bluetooth CP and it broke my SMB shares. I need those so people at my workplace can access my Drop Box on a Windows network. I'm done with this hack business, I'm downgrading to Lion. If you mess around with hacks on a computer not used for producing things , no problem. But, if it's important that you remain compatible with the rest of the world, this hack is much too risky. I'll probably use this on my old MacMini, but not on a machine on I use for my livelihood.
Hi, uh I’ve been trying to find a 10.8.5 installer image that ml post factor would be able to support (not the one that has 21.7MB) but I haven’t been able to get one. Do u have the page where u got it from? or did u update it normally (image from apple) and then ran the ml post patcher? Thx!

The reflection effects still work it's just totally black for some reason. Besides that though no problems at all, and I just turned on the 2D Dock via terminal.
So my installation of OS X did just fail, the conclusion was incomparability. I'm trying to install from Snow Leopard (10.6.8). What's the problem? Should I first install Lion before I move onto Mountain Lion? And if so, how?
Is your downloads still available somewhere else? I do have all the dvd versions of mac OS X . I know this is a really old video, but I still have a black MacBook in mint condition, don’t want to throw away. I do have the 5 latest models , just would hate to throw this MacBook away. I'm having issues when rebooting the laptop when I install MacPostFactor v2.0.1 (updated version) when I choose the installer hard ware, when it installs Mountain Lion it always goes as "Install Failed" and it won't tell me where it fails...
Few things that could save your time: 1. this works with 10.7+ only (not 10.6) 2. you can't repartition an existing one upwards, so cut the top partition wisely 3. you will need full "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" (4+ GB), wherever you get it

Yes it is true I agree with Glen Mountain Lion can be updated can be a tricky process as long as you know what you are doing just go to the App store and download M/Lion update for 10.8.5 just google it and it will take you straight there make sure you still have Mountain Lion in your Applications folder so that it can be detected I tried changing the PlList in system and the whole thing just crashed down on me so now have to start from Scratch ! Good luck
I have successfully installed it on another partician, but I can't increase the Mountain Lion partician size no more than 29.35GB and the rest of the empty space is classed as 'Free Space'. Any solutions?

Will the OS X Mountain Lion download from the Apple App Store, which is available, give me the opportunity to have this on my HD? Or will it just try to install and tell me my old Mac does not support it and NOT download the app?
The last part (he says) you cannot update, is again NOT TRUE. You can indeed update the system, just need to "patch" it again using MLPostFactor. However, in order to do this you will need to change the BuildVersion to 12F45 (inside of System->Library->CoreServices) and the App Store WILL give you the newest updates!
I was able to change the buildversion through Terminal but the app store isn't showing any new updates, am I missing something? Do I need the 10.8.5 .app file in order for the app store to show the update?
If you buy Mountain Lion from Apple (online store download) it will provide the full 10.8.5 store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion - however it is possible to do the "combo update" - if you already have 10.8.x support.apple.com/kb/DL1676

I don't know if this will work for me, but my predicament is sorta the same.. i tried to refresh my IMac PowerMac8,2 I accidently wiped the hard drive clean ... when I Tap the alt button to boot from HD there are no options... i tried to write a partition and install it using your method from another IMAC computer... but when i put the 8Gig memory in the PowerMac it had No response.. I think I'm doing something wrong cause MLPFACTOR desn't work, I took it from internet buy there is no a simbol as you show, ther is just a .dmg file (4.3gb) and there is the application inside because when I click it, it tells me that is not compatible with lion, so is there!!! I'm puting the dmg and the Installed ESD which is inside and the MLPF doesn't recognise the software, have you got any advise??? thank you so much!!!!

Hello again... Trying to open MLPost Factor and it's saying 'Install OS X Mountain Lion app not found Please put the app in your Applications Folder and restart MLPF.' It's sitting right next to it, in the Applications Folder! Please help...!

Will the OS X Mountain Lion download from the Apple App Store, which is available, give me the opportunity to have this on my HD? Or will it just try to install and tell me my old Mac does not support it and NOT download the app?
The last part (he says) you cannot update, is again NOT TRUE. You can indeed update the system, just need to "patch" it again using MLPostFactor. However, in order to do this you will need to change the BuildVersion to 12F45 (inside of System->Library->CoreServices) and the App Store WILL give you the newest updates!

I was able to change the buildversion through Terminal but the app store isn't showing any new updates, am I missing something? Do I need the 10.8.5 .app file in order for the app store to show the update?
Yes, you will need to have 10.8.5 installed, as well as the correct build version (displayed) for the App Store to verify and show updates.
If you buy Mountain Lion from Apple (online store download) it will provide the full 10.8.5 store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion - however it is possible to do the "combo update" - if you already have 10.8.x support.apple.com/kb/DL1676
I figured out that the copy of mac osx mountain lion i had was corrupted . I got it all installed and now i was wondering if i could delete the installer partition to free more space ???

So I downloaded the MLPostFactor from the link, but I cant unzip it. It kicks an error up. I watched a video about how to unzip using terminal, that didnt work either. Tried to unzip in windows, but it asked to insert some disk. Any ideas? Thanks,

Cant do it because it says i need to have mountain lion osx in app folder but i did.. it just wouldn’t open because it says i need to get it from i tunes . Which i have it purchased there just cant download it because my Mac OS Unsuoported

I don't know if this will work for me, but my predicament is sorta the same.. i tried to refresh my IMac PowerMac8,2 I accidently wiped the hard drive clean ... when I Tap the alt button to boot from HD there are no options... i tried to write a partition and install it using your method from another IMAC computer... but when i put the 8Gig memory in the PowerMac it had No response.. Is there any method you know of if you can help

i´ve installed ml by mlpostfcator, after successful installation and hitting the restart button , my iMac late 2006 don´t restart. After shutting down by the power button and further start again mountain lion don´t boot up. Do i something wrong ? Please help ;)
I may use this on my 2007 macbook pro I think Ill use the 32to64 patch on my mac pro requires more work but you can update the OS normally
I think I'm doing something wrong cause MLPFACTOR desn't work, I took it from internet buy there is no a simbol as you show, ther is just a .dmg file (4.3gb) and there is the application inside because when I click it, it tells me that is not compatible with lion, so is there!!! I'm puting the dmg and the Installed ESD which is inside and the MLPF doesn't recognise the software, have you got any advise??? thank you so much!!!!

One question: if I install Mountain Lion successfully, will I then be able to add files, profiles, apps, etc. saved on a previous Snow Leopard install (10.7.3), using Migration Assistant or will this completely screw up the Mountain Lion install? Please forgive me if this is a dumb question -- not the greatest computer savvy person! :(
