    The Bold setting brews in intervals, instead of a steady stream of water as from the Regular setting. This gives time for the water to fully saturate the grounds. The difference in time is about less than a minute, so unless your life is so booked you can't afford an extra 45 seconds, go with the bold setting for a richer tasting coffee. I LOVE my Scoop brewer....and no plastic pods to fill our oceans....not to mention it is sooooo much cheaper!

    If you like fresh brewed bold flavored coffee you love the Scoop Hamilton Beach...
    and if you love instant tasteless coffee then you love the Keurig...

    This is great. Way better then spending loads for expensive "cups" and "pods". I went to this from a pot coffee. It makes my folgers taste 100 percent better.

    I own one. I don’t what your talking about how it doesn’t brew fast and the temp is not hot enough. Mine brews fast and the temp of the coffee will burn your lip and cause a blister. May be your Hamilton Beach The Scoop is broke 😂. My K pod doesn’t brew near as fast. I highly recommended this coffee maker. Sorry to be hating but I think it work amazingly great!!!

    The greatest single-brew machine available is the KitchenAid. To extract the oils from a drip coffee, which provide the complex and rich flavor, water must be in a range of 180 F. to 195 F. KitchenAid, the innovators they are, created their model so the water comes out at 180/185.

    Great idea and design, hope they do a all stainless interior where the coffee is brewed to abolish the plastic toxic and taste people complain about. Excellent review.

    I'm pretty excited too I just bought mine at thrift store this makes coffee better than my kereig for the simple fact that it brings the coffee a little slower you get really brewed coffee and it's really well built thank you for the video super excited about this little machine I paid 8 bucks for a used one and I paid 179 for my kereig seriously the kereig does great pods but the pods are plastic who the hell wants that and if you try to use the little stainless steel thing to make your own it doesn't brew it good so thanks again. Off to enjoy a cup of coffee.

    I have one of these and a big ole fancy keurig. I love the scoop because it is way cheaper to buy coffee for. I usually go for the breakfast blend coffees in which the keurig still makes really strong. If I would have known about this one a year ago, I would have got the scoop first! Maybe when The K-cups get back around $9 I may go back, but for now, I'll choose a tub of Maxwell house breakfast blend and save a lot of money. This product is very well built and seems very sturdy and solid. It d

    The only concern seems the temperature of the drink. It should warm enough without having to warm up the mug. I will try it and see how it goes, but I have a feeling that the coffee should be hot not lukewarm

    That's a pretty thick glass mug, which you used to hold cold water for brewing. I would think warming it first by bringing it up to at least room temperature before brewing would bring the temperature up. Also, would like to know if brewing it on bold would change the temperature.

    I purchased one of these a couple of years ago. It is junk, expensive junk at the time. It has sat on the shelf ever since and will soon be dropped off for donation. The flat bottom basket does not concentrate the flow of water through the coffee grounds leaving you with an extremely weak cup of coffee. In order to make what I considered a normal cup of coffee with my old maker I had to double or triple the amount of coffee used. When you watch this video notice how the coffee that is coming out of the machine looks more like clear water. I went back to using a cheap Black and Decker single serve maker but unfortunately B&D has replaced that model with another flat bottomed basket type (these just don't work well). Make sure when you buy a drip machine that the basket is tapered and not flat bottomed.

    • @DeeegerD
      @DeeegerD 9 років тому +1

      I use the coffee God gave me - I grind my own ;) Didn't matter what grind it's the shape of the basket - you need a tapered basket to concentrate the flow. Bought a Kitchen Aid one cup maker - very happy with that one. Tapered basket.

      Give me a better option. I am looking for one for the office at work. Right now I use a $20 Mr. Coffee 4-cup drip machine at home. Still going strong on Amazon. Have used that for like 10 years. Not sure why everyone else's kitchen appliances last only 2-3 years. All my stuff is original and looks brand new. I think my toaster is from college and almost 15 years old. It's all about cleaning and not living like a disgusting pig.
      Anyways, give me some recommendations on single-serve coffee options for work. And don't say Keurig please. Owners of Keurig aren't really coffee drinkers. They are idiots that think they are drinking coffee.

    • @DeeegerD
      @DeeegerD 9 років тому

      I have the KitchenAid Personal Coffee Maker now - it's a very nice machine and brews a good cup every time. A bit pricey at around $100 but I take my coffee seriously ;) And yes you are correct about Keurig people lol

    I've had one of these for a couple years and I've used it a ton. Sometimes I've resorted to using a bit of paper towel between the two filters to catch the sediment (even with two meshes, you still end up with sediment), but aside from that I've loved it. Unfortunately it just stopped working entirely after two years of consistent use; it now acts like I have no water in the reservoir and turns itself off immediately, so I've gone back to using my small hamilton beach pot that I had in college (thank god I didn't get rid of it like I'd planned to!)

  • @yesyoumay

    Good to know! Thought it would be good because the build is solid but if coffee quality is not good then the build is irrelevant. I do like the concept of getting away from having to use k cups (ie. a gimmick to charge more for coffee) and using real coffee but the coffee maker to be good!

    Got this for a gift and am noticing that the reservoir doesn't totally empty... Frustrating when I put a full cup of water in and only get 1/2 - 3/4 out ....have to add more water to get a full cup, but then also have to empty excess hot water that didn't come out by turning the machine upside down. Anyone else have that problem?

    This is the worst coffee maker ever! It makes lukewarm, weak coffee. I ended up using 3 times the amount of beans and still didn't get acceptable coffee. I tried everything! I've used it for a couple month! It is such a disappointment. It's even messy. Coffee spews out the sides. I'm giving my away today and going back to my old drip machine.
