KLR 650 is a little heavy for trails but for gravely roads perfect. Plan on doing a lot of cascade mountains.

Imagine if the MoJavi was also available in 2x9 liters, I would be an instant customer. Almost no one, at least in what I can find, offers anything good in the 18-20 liter range. It's either too little or too much. The dream setup for me would be Detachable(theft and rain prevention) MoJavis 2x9 liters and then the already perfect Rogue drybag with dual openings.

I ended up with the header pipe burning thru the strap after my first ride. Would be helpful in the design if there was some additonal connection point or shielding to prevent this on that side. I tried buying a generic header pipe shield, but the clearnance on my Husky is too tight. Also wish it wasn't sewn so it could be easily repaired without sending it in. Was going to try using pronghorn straps in place of the original header side strap, but I'm not confident those wouldn't melt either. Other than this, the side bags are top notch quality, heavy duty and don't flop around like my other sidebags.

Sorry to hear your strap melted. You can get webbing straps from our website and sew them into the existing melted strap to regain that functionality. I had to do it with a tank bag I mounted too close to my exhaust one time, and it's held strong for 2 years now.
Reach out to ride@giantloopmoto.com and Tiffany may be able to help you out.

Do you find that on the left side, air box cover, 2020+ KTM exc-f, Is it wise to apply clear 3M vinyl to protect that left side cover from chafing against the tension of the strap?

We sell vinyl protective film for that exact purpose: www.giantloopmoto.com/product/vinyl-protective-film/
Movement + dirt will eventually lead to some scuffing. It's kind of unavoidable with the kind of riding we do

    Thanks.
Do the straps and bags rub on plastics and stain them.
Some wrap or something similar be good to protect them.

The straps don't harm the plastic at all, the bags will scratch the plastics over time. That's the same with every saddlebag on the market. Using a vinyl protective film or graphics on the bike would help prevent that.

In our instructions, we recommend installing our Vinyl Protective Film beneath the contact surfaces to prevent buffing and scuffing. Any vinyl installer who does clear rock guards on cars can do a pro installation that will be virtually invisible too. We’ve even used packing tape as short term protection. This is not unique to GL products - your boots and everything else that touches the bike while riding will abrade the finish surfaces. But a few minutes to install some protection easily solves this issue.

how does one mount to a tail rack?

    • @GiantLoopMoto
      @GiantLoopMoto  3 роки тому +1

Both bags mount quickly and easily to the Giant Loop Tail Rack using a single Pronghorn strap. Other tail racks are harder, because they increase the width of the rear of the bike so many racks aren't compatible with the Mojavi.

Wbat tail bag works with the Mojavi? Also, why isn't it spelled Mojave? ;-)

Agreed. It’s mostly an overview of some design updates. However, we provide VERY detailed written instructions for all of our products, complete with illustrations, tips and recommendations. You can also find links to these PDF instructions on each product page.

Do NOT install the strap by the muffler pipe, it WILL melt! I followed their install instructions (this video) and my strap melted. Giant loop told me it was my fault, user error and was completely avoidable, yet here is their video... thanks giantloop...

This basic design has been in production for about 11 years now. We have logged many miles with the anchor straps attached to the frame/subframe. As long as there is an air gap and the saddlebag remains tight, there is no heat issue. In the instructions you received with your saddlebag, we mention several methods of mounting that help avoid issues with hot headers. That said, sh*t happens, but the good news is the strap is a very easy and inexpensive repair. We are happy to ship you webbing, and almost any sewing/repair shop can simply trim off the melted section and sew the new webbing onto the stub of the original - upholstery, awning and shoe repair shops can do this in minutes. Since it’s just sewing webbing, even an alteration shop can easily make the repair. But if that’s not enough, please go to our Contact page, download and print the return form, ship us your saddlebag, and we will replace it for you. Thanks for riding with Giant Loop!
