On 13 September, 1960, Senators John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Baines Johnson appeared at a presidential campaign rally in the parking lot of Chance Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie, TX. Noted for his aversion to wearing hats, JFK was presented with a cowboy hat that he first said he "didn't have the guts to wear," but at the conclusion of the appearance, placed it on his head and declared "I'm going to wear this in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Boston."

WHAT A MAN HE WAS ! AMERICA NEEDS HIM DESPERATELY !
JFK, droppin' the mic before it was cool.
LOL 🤣
I didn’t catch that.
"I've just been presented this hat.. but I don't have the guts to wear it." Classic JFK.
Greatest political speaker I've ever heard!
Well educated.
He really hated hats, that is not the first time i have seen him refuse to wear one
That’s the opposite of abraham lincoln
😂😂
they presented JFK with another cowboy hat on 11/22/63. he refused to put it on but told the crowd he'd put it on 'on Monday at the White House.'
that man had charisma and made people believe in greatness.
I have a feeling that wasn’t water lbj was drinking
If Texan ain't drinkin moonshine he ain't Texan.
Listening to JFK's recorded phone conversations makes one realize he was dealing with alot of incompetent disrespectful ignorant buffoons God bless him
John F. Kennedy spoke quickly and with confidence because every word he uttered, came from his core beliefs. He was a great President because he cared about America and the world.
Lyndon Johnson was the most crooked man looking indifferent. While john Kennedy was all grace power and charisma. He was an ideal president like sean Connery was as james Bond. The best part in kennedy was no nonsense attitude. When a journalist asked Kennedy whether he would like to be projected as vice president? He flatly refused as he was so confident.Wish he had lived longer ad he was dear friend of Nehru.
Love the voice. The sound echo.
He was told immediately following the speech when he dismounted the platform that he better go back up and put on that 10 gallon Stetson hat. He was in Texas and he had to show affinity for the Texans, so he did just that.
Lol he hated wearing hats because it messed up his hair
100% Class
Buzzbox3rd
JFK = Class
LBJ = 100% Ass
This guy will never be repeated ...the day he was terminated .....was the same day America died.
Grazie per mandarci questi video del Presidente Kennedy amatissimo anche da noi in Europa !!!
Kinda hard to tell for sure, but it surely looks like Lyndon and JFK arrived in the same car. If so, that’s highly unusual. I always thought
a president and VP couldn’t travel together for security, succession reasons - either on the same airplane together or in a motorcade.
I'm sure that's probably true for presidents and VPs but at this time they were still campaigning so the wouldn't have the whole secret service detail yet
@George Sickler
You are more clever than you think. But I am not going to elaborate on that. Look up Johnson's personality. It's possible that he was "gathering" information, like he usually did. "The Treatment" was also one of his trademarks, but actually were acts of intimidation.
@@ikidu1102 LBJ in on it ? 😕
Lyndon always seemed indifferent and bored when Jack spoke.
And...
He hated Kennedy. That's why. Glad there is film to see the truth of it
@@Infernal460LBJ hated Kennedy
Wonder how Kennedy couldnt feel that negative energy because its clearly there.....
Cause lbj was dying of jealousy...jfk was and had everything an American wanted to be or have...
0:28 is where the video actually starts
Johnson was Jealous of Kennedy, he wanted money. < Johnson
There was a stark difference between Kennedy and Johnson. The first was more cultured, more charismatic and more eloquent than the second. But - in the end - who would die in Dallas would be Kennedy. Life is ironic
ione Barbosa and Castro lived to old age
ione Barbosa Ya because LBJ was one, if not the most important one, of the crew that had him assassinated.
yes Kennedy passed no legislation not even a tax cut certainly not Civil Rights but LBJ made him a Martyr and passed it all. Over 410 bills into law changing America into a modern society
@@michaelplummer395 jfk pushed for civil rights in the Dixie south. He was hated for it. LBJ never supported civil rights or labor for over 20 years in Congress. LBJ pushed it thru. I give him credit for it. But if jfk survived Texas he would've done the same.
@@elainnesanchez2955 you could never compare the two.
Biggest mistake ever picking Johnson as his running mate! The whole country was ruined not just the Kennedy family.
True about the whole country ruined by LBJ. But Kennedy was forced by circumstance to chose LBJ as stunning mate to carry the South. The so called 'Harvards' in JFK's cabinet called LBJ Rufus Cornpone.JFK called him Riverboat. Both names indicative of the contempt in which they held LBJ. RFK had LBJ's measure, hated him and everything LBJ was. And was not afraid to confront LBJ for his phone, opportunistic, slimy, slippery duplicities. JBJ was the architect who ushered in an era of darkness in the USA.
You cannot deny that LBJ was a great president and helped the country a lot. He passed the Civil Rights Bill and made the Great Society, but unfortunately the Vietnam War was a dark shadow on his legacy. Overall, he is still a great president and helped the country a lot.
@@richardcassidy9536 great observation and well summerized
@@UnitedStates17 He pushed Civil Rights because he needed the liberals in the Democratic Party to vote for the Vietnam War. He knew they wouldn't vote for it if he didn't give them the gift of the Civil Rights Act. He never cared about blacks. He was a political opportunist
Jack threw the hat on the ground he stuck it to LBJ every chance he got
Why do the fuzzy and crackly sounds of old recordings make me sleepy
I remember seeing and received an ice creme sandwich as a child fron president Kennedy in Brooklyn in the 60's people never believe me he was in Williamsburg with Lyndon b Johnson
You are lucky.
LBJ was playing second fiddle in 1960. He never liked being # 2.
He ,obviously, disliked wearing hats.
Mic drop…love it.
LBJ Was The W Bush Of The 60s
God Is Great Beer Is Good And People Are Crazy 🤣
Disgusting the way that guy drinks while JFK speaks .....tells all about his standing about the outcome
Also projects his contempt for JFK. Almost like he doesn't rate him much. How JFK could not feel that negative vibe I cannot understand.
@@brianb1684 Absolutley he should ve listened to bobby don't take in lbj ...but they needed texas....he should have live himself bobby and jfk jr
I think "the hat business" went out of business was because JFK typically didn't wear hats..
Wow LBJ was right there with him ....
How LBJ could restrain himself enough during a long campaign... tuh play second fiddle to JFK...a political novice by comparison to him...is astounding. He really took one for the team there.
@@giusmaximus3541 oh true true absolutely ...
LBJ was his running mate. So...
It’s because Texas was a pivotal swing state in the 1960 presidential election. Kennedy had to win it or he would have lost the election. Lbj was from Texas and so anytime JFK made a speech in Texas during the campaign trail he was with him.
The way they (Kennedys people) treated LBJ was despicable ...
LBJ can’t stop drinking
Jfk sempre foi meu herói desde meus dias de garoto jfk sempre👦🙌👏👏👏
Sit down, Lyndon!
What happened?
JFK looked terrific in a Stetson. JFK's ability to insert humor, at second to none.
❤
Do motion from a central time piece infamous to the public and the private 😉
Gee...I think there was a freudian message in the way he threw that stetson away.
Love it when he said, American Must Be First!
Lyndon johnson definitely was involved with this great man death.
The ONLY reason JFK had LBJ as V.P was Texas
Use the capital building unless a special order has to make a decision to make the mark.
Lbj was acting the buffoon. But he was a dangerous buffoon. Those military contracts he'd kill for and did. The corrupt connections were astounding.
2:55 "I can't wait to kill you."
Robgoren Bingo
Lbj looks like he doesn't like jfk or is it just me
JFK
LBJ’ was second fiddle with jfk. He hated that . He took 3 years bid his time, lining up his power base.
Some people just had to kill him.
People didn't know that both LBJ and JFK both served in South Pacific during WWII but they were deployed in a different time and different branch of military
Johnson and others used Kennedy
Trieu dinh / ho bay tren troi Minh duoi dat lam chi
Opposite ends of the spectrum. John F. Kennedy is one of the only men I've ever seen who seems to make LBJ shrink before your very eyes.
JFK had 100% of the class on the back of that car.
What bull crap JFK spewed out about the nation being in jeopardy if the defense budget is not hiked...otherwise...loved the guy.
IT was the Cold War. You want to hear fear mongering listen to Nixon call George Marshall a communist. Thats buffoonery.
Ioo
a truly great man.. my only regret is that he was captured by the hubris and false and fatal conceit of the "progress" of Woodrow Wilson.. Nevertheless, he was a much better president than the awful Wilson.
(C) (r) if j on Kennedy c in 1
Jfk's killer was right beside him all along 😲😲
You wouldn't see that today campaigning while standing on the car yet his message sounds familiar
President Trump says things like that ❤️
This man would be a Republican. If he was alive today. This is what the Democratic party used to be
Reminds us of Trump
