Tony Cool and Dancing Doug were well after 1975. By your blank troll account, I see you weren’t alive or around and are just talking Puerto Ricans wanted nothing to do with Black Americans. The parents told the kids “Never bring a black person to our home”. They hated hip-hop music and were prejudiced against dark skinned blacks. You can go to the Bronx an Harlem and see it today. Back then it was worse. They played their congas and bongos in the parks in the early 70’s. There were no West Indians at any hip-hop parties from 1970 - 1975. The were prejudice against Black Americans. They hated Black American hip-hop music calling it “Yankee Music” and called Black Americans “Yankees”. Their parents told them not to associate with Black Americans. I was there from 1970 - 1980.

This Hip hop Conversation is starting to become redundant. Everyone playing dumb. Black people ain't never said that Puerto Ricans weren't in the Bronx. No one has ever said that they didn’t participate in early hip-hop. No one has ever said that Puerto Ricans didn’t help move hip-hop forward.
Black folks said once and for All
“Black American youth created Hip Hop” Period.
Again all of this confusion started when FatJoe said hip-hop was 50-50 with Latinos And Busta Rhymes said black Americans don’t have culture.
Then all hell broke loose and the debate started. Now Crazy Legs is on record lying about Disco King Mario being Puerto Rican. That’s how he came into the debate, by spreading myths. My question is when is he going to publicly apologize for his wrongdoing?
It seems like All of this BS began to surface around hip hop's 50th. It looked like a deliberate attack on black American culture and influence.
If it wasn’t an attack then Fat Joe, and Busta Rymes should Apologize to the Black American community for disrespect when black Americans supported both of them more than their respective ethnic groups.
This whole tactic of when we say something they say something else is boring and disingenuous. Look the facts stand.
    1. Black American youth created Hip Hop
    2. Puerto Ricans came later and did great things to help move hip-hop forward.
    3. Hip-hop did not come from Jamaica.
    4. Co-creation story is a Myth because 90% of the hip-hop pioneers say so.
    5. Herc Played predominantly African-American music to a predominantly African-American audience. All the elements of hip-hop are African-American born. I credit Herc for amalgamating into our culture here and becoming a pioneer in helping to bring those elements already formulated by African Americans together by throwing huge parties. What’s weird is people assimilating into African-American culture, doing so well, and then turning around and saying they created the very culture they had to assimilate to. Trying to Rape, Rob, and Pillage another people's Culture is actually some Weirdo Jive and pathetic. Jamaicans have their culture in Jamaica and it’s nothing like ours. That’s a beautiful thing. They can keep their Culture and we are Good. Black Americans love Herc because he is one of our people. All the rest of these mindless minions talking that weirdo “ They created Hip Hop crap, we shut that noise down all day family. Real talk.
Now continue The cipher and bring truth to power.

Hip hop was co-created with the help of Afro-Caribbeans. DJ King Charles (a Jamaican man) was on the hip hop scene in the late 1960s. Also Sylvia Robinson (the mother of hip hop) has Caribbean roots

    • @CottonClubRadio2024
      @CottonClubRadio2024 Місяць тому +2

@@125efa That makes no sense. You just mentioned a couple of people who participated in African American culture and happen to have Caribbean roots. It’s like the DJ cool Herc thing, some of you play semantics. Just because someone has Caribbean ancestry doesn’t mean that they brought that element to hip-hop. The 60’s and 70’s were different times, guys weren’t so nationalistic in comparison to today's world. What you’re trying to do is crowbar Caribbean culture into something that had nothing to do with Caribbean culture and more to do with a few Caribbean cats imitating African American/ FBA culture. This must be an internet thing because all my Caribbean family don’t argue that hip hop is black American culture. Many of them rarely even listen to hip-hop.
Reggae is a beautiful genre but that’s nothing like Hip Hop.
Hip-hop was born here and is American-influenced, Not the other way around.

@@125efafunny not one Jamaican record was sampled but y’all created it 😂 stop lying…everyone was sampling funk mainly james brown no Jamaican or Puerto Rican music because it’s our culture and the Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans who were there in the beginning were the ones hanging around and assimilating to black American culture. Just like one of my best friends growing up he was the only Spanish cat in our crew…he therefore assimilated to our culture not the other way around. There’s not enough Caribbeans in america in the 70s for us to try to assimilate to your culture. And how come there was no hip hop artist coming out of Jamaica or Puerto Rico in the 70s if y’all created it. It was only those in america who assimilated into our culture

14:11-14:13 Exactly I agree wholeheartedly people just don’t want to give Black Americans their credit when and where it’s due. People are always trying to rewrite our history and come up with their own narratives, but when it comes to other racial groups what is theirs is theirs. You don’t see Black Americans saying we created something in another culture that we didn’t. It’s just always us that get imposed upon and not enough of us stand together and stand up for the TRUTH!
