Penske is a backstabber. He'll ruin IndyCar and the Indy 500. He ruined Little Al and it was then that he started to become an alcoholic. That's just how some people react to depression. There never was anyone who loved racing more than Little Al and his love was destroyed by the egomaniac Penske. Nobody else won in his cars during the final CART years but he used that to blame Jr. Penske didn't win again until he jumped to the IRL. By then Little Al was addicted even though he was winning races again for Galles Racing and Kelley Racing as well as winning 10 or more IROC races. I can't stand Penske. I met Penske in the late '80s while building him one of his rental truck businesses. He's not like he seems to be on TV.
He actually won the 2000 and 2001 CART championships but only after dropping his own Penske chassis and buying Reynards. But yeah, he also abandoned CART after 2001, a series he basically co-founded. So… you might be right.
