I've returned to visit my sole surviving sister every year for the last ten years since my retirement who is currently still living in Phnom Penh City. Enjoy your trip. As a Aussie who has visited both America and Cambodia many times. America is so unsafe.... you can get shot anywhere. Siem reap footpaths are only in the main areas
cambodia is like laos and thailand, all very similiar and all buddhist, they practice what they preach, humble, kindness, respectful, and treat guests better than themselves sometimes. Complete opposite than here in the west, where the louder you are and more attention seeking you are, the more popular your are, and the more aggressive you look, and act, and talk the more people respect you, here in the west. 180degrees opposite to asians. That's why as introvert, i love asia and asian people in general, safe, quiet, respectful, kind, helpful, humblenss, FRIENDLY 9/10 times. I feel like i'm born in the wrong culture.

Even here in America, there are problems with gun deaths, illicit drugs, and human traffickings. Be open minded and kind whenever possible as life is short to do the things we don't love doing. Peace ✌️
