- How to assemble IKEA pax wardrobe upright. You need to build Pax wardrobe upright if your ceiling clearance is less than 8cm. If you have enough clearance on top of the IKEA PAX wardrobe more than 8cm you can assemble pax wardrobe on the floor check other two options PART 1 and PART 2. If you have enough room on the floor I would suggest PART 1 it is the easiest option.

Great video, thank you, very helpful as I watched each step multiple times whilst making the wardrobe alongside my manual, I trusted yours more as it is clearer.
Took me two hours, female on my own, mostly as I didn’t have an electric drill and adding the top board was heavy so had to rest my arms a few times!

That's exactly the way I assemble my pax in 2010. I tried the other way ikea suggested but it broke in two🤯. So I returned it and build a new one standing up like you.

Same here. Plan to use the Pax as a pantry in my small 50's kitchen with 8ft. ceiling. Waited months for all the parts to be in stock. Too large for my car, so had it delivered. Kitchen has a sklight in the center which I figured would give me the extra height to install.
Things went smoothly until I realized I built it with the foot under the skylight. Decided to lift to test the clearance BEFORE putting on the thin back board. Bad idea. Crumbled like a house of cards and ripped many of the screw holes, plus chunks of particle board. I was devastated, but Ikea was awesome. They are sending me replacement.

A lot easier assembling on the floor if you have clearance to lift completed wardrobe into position.
Bear in mind that they are still very delicate until solidly connected to a wall so slide gently, slowly and always with your push/pull concentrated low down. Don't try pushing/pulling high up.
Made up two full size 236cm wardrobes by myself by carefully following the instructions and check/double check anything youre6not sure of, even by referring to these excellent UA-cam videos.

6 years old and still the best video for Pax that is out there. They are coming out with a Pax 2.0 this summer... maybe you should do an update!
Do you know what is new there? Is it the Pac frame or sliding doors?
Yes! We just got ours. It is a totally different frame design. The four walls are all connected and it is made to open like an accordion while standing up. There are not many/any metal pieces, now.

I followed the instruction from IKEA and the top board fell off due to its weight (ripped the 3 screws off) and made a dent on my wall. It is a lot easier to install the 2 vertical side boards first and install the top because the side boards can stand up by themselves.
Same happened to us and it fell on my nose.. got hurt pretty bad..

Man! Without you I would probably be burying my husband in the backyard. The IKEA instructions for this are the WORST and he insisted on using them until I found you. Oh, and did I mention, it got put together all the way and wouldn’t tilt up because of the ceiling? Undo the cams, start again standing up. Thanks new best friend!

One question though: If I have the space concerning the ceiling, I could also built it on the floor and lift it up afterwards? Maybe more secure solution for a 1 person team! :D
Definitely more secure to assemble on the floor questions is if you have enough space between ceiling and top of the wardrobe to do that. So just measure before and you go to go. 35% for assembly... well you just find my channel;) Thank you for watching

Regarding time. 2 doors sliding wardrobe is about 4h if you know what you doing. If not than double or triple that time ;)

You have 2 options depend on thickness of your carpet and you have to get someone who really know to shorten pax wardrobe here is how is done ua-cam.com/video/ehWybREbdF4/v-deo.html second option get the shorter 201cm pax wardrobes.
what is minimum clearance above for 236cm high closet??? is it possible to put it in 238cm high room

@@Mingthemercil3ss you want to locate the studs in the wall and mark them. Most of the holes probably won't line up with the studs, so instead you can install a long 2 x 4 that goes the length of the wall and screw into that.

Great Videos 🙌 For Pax 236cm high, do you know how high the ceilings have to be to assemble them on the floor? Doing it by myself I hope I don't have to do them this way. (My new aptm has ceiling height 253cm)
I think 7cm clearance should be enough. Just to make sure get one panel out and check if you can lift without scratching ceiling

Hey I ordered an ikea closet built it too and now I have a problem with the closet doors they are uneven one is taller than the other one I tried everything to make them even and have them the same alignment 😭
Great video, you make it super easy for us, thank you. My roof height is 237cm with carpet, would I be able to assemble PAX sliding door H236cm upright? I'm concerned about those plastic fixings that go on the top to secure the top sliding bar.
Your ceiling is to low for sliding doors. Here is the fix but this should be done by someone who understand what he doing. Also your Ikea guarantee will be void with this hack ua-cam.com/video/ehWybREbdF4/v-deo.html

As I understand, both PAX systems with normal or sliding doors have height of 236cm, so what would be the main issue assembling upright please? I do see the minimum ceiling height recommended is 245cm but that's for normal on floor assembly and not upright. Thank you.

@@martiangodAt a rough guess, I'd say extra clearance required to lift the sliding door into position over the guide rails.

You would have only 0,5cm space and that's too small for sliding doors. Another thing ceiling sometime bending especially towards the middle. If you have hinged doors and the ceiling is at last 0.5cm all along the wardrobe and there is no obstructions when the hinged doors open (ceiling halogen or any spot lights) then you can doit. But no for sliding doors at last I try with the minimum of 1,4cm space between the ceiling and the top of the wardrobe (sliding doors) There is way how to shorten the Pax frames here is the video ua-cam.com/video/ehWybREbdF4/v-deo.htmlsi=fdUPytHNMoqY1zzl but this is for previous model of the Ikea Pax wardrobe with sliding doors and it is not so easy if you new to this. If you want to shorten the wardrobe definitely get someone who is familiar with furniture assembly and cutting the panels. Hope that help. All the best PP

Total height of the wardrobe is 236.5cm if you have ceiling height 237cm you have 0,5cm space between top of the wardrobe and ceiling that's enough for hinged doors only you would have to build wardrobe upright. If you have sliding doors 0.5cm space is not enough. One more thing usually ceiling can be 1-2cm different from one side of the room to another side so make sure you have 237cm all along of course check if you don't have any obstructions for the doors like halogen lights on the ceiling .....

Do you think this wardrobe is heavy enough to stand on its own without leaning against a wall ? Planning on using it as a divider for a large living room
Unless you can secure it to the ceiling or the floor, I wouldn't recommend it. They can tip pretty easily if they aren't secured to a wall.
Depends on the door type used. Sliding doors or very light hinged doors will probably be okay but finding some sort of low fixing point, may be down to the floor would be your safest option

Well... we built the wardrobe on the floor so now it scrapes the cealing when we try to make it stand up right... what do we do?

Good to see the order of assembly, but the video is flawed with one person assembly because of the extra strain on the doweling. It needs two people to hold all the parts in place to secure everything securely. Even reaching for the second side is a nonsense.
And yet he managed to do it while also explaining his mistake, advising to keep the panels very close to you and recommending two people for the job.........
Built two 236cm Pax on the floor (twelve foot ceilings) as well as a Songesand kingsize bed and three Malm drawer units and bedside cabinets alone so followed instructions and PP videos.
Easy does it.

How much space do you think it is required to mount a 236cm Pax upright? I have 238cm from the floor to the ceiling, do you think it can be enough?
If you have 2cm space it is enough just make sure you have 2cm all along sometime ceiling bend especially in the middle.

Alex Claudiu Yep, it went very well. You will need help, but the result is very fine. We only had some problem, for a corner Pax because it needs an couple of extra cm to be asembled, but it can be solved cutting 1cm in some of the small intra wood pieces

Use battens the same thickness of the skirting so it is level.

Hey. Do you actually need any clearance to build it upright? I have exactly 237cm in my bedroom and in Ikea they told me there is no way I eill be able tu build the taller ones in that space and put the doors on.

@Carla Cardoso You will have to cut around 1cm from the bottom, otherwise you won't be able to assemble them. I've managed to do this and it required cutting 2cm.
@Carla Cardoso I didn't ask, but do you have hinged or sliding doors? Sliding require some extra space above the frame.
You did wrong in The beginning. Putting The Top screw’s on The upper outer Hole. Then later u have changed to another Hole
