I have been using smartphone to edit my video since 2018. From Android era until iPhone 12 mini and 13 era.
Unless you edit videos for paid clients or big movies, that’s different story.

I really hope the M3 Air comes in the fingerprint resistant Space Black. But given that they even locked that color and oleophobic nature to the M3 Pro and Max chips and not the regular M3, I guess they'd keep locking it to the "true pro" colors and not the Air.
The air is more popular among women that don't want to carry around full sized laptops. If anything, I'd expect pastels and other fruity colors.
I travel with the 16” M1 Pro MBP. Not too bad. Pro is marginally lighter than Max but not by much. But if I was travelling a LOT, I would probably go 14”.
I remember back in college I had the old 13” MBP with an i7 intel chip and 16 GB of RAM. I had a class project where we modeled the neutron physics within a basic nuclear reactor design. Took my little warrior 10 hours straight to run the simulation (all cores firing).
I can’t imagine how much faster it would be if I were to run it today on a beast machine such as this!

Great review! I love that you’re highlighting shots using the iPhone 15 Pro. The fingerprints of my Midnight Blue M2 Air drive me crazy as well; I’m happy Apple addressed it with the new Pro releases.
I have blue M2 AIR and after some level of touching fingers are not visible anymore. all surface is darker.
Can’t wait to pick up my online order tomorrow unfortunately someone did a smash and grab with a car at the Apple Store in Naperville Illinois so hopefully they get the store back up and running by tomorrow
I bought a MacBook Air 15" earlier via delivery when it came out. I should have tried to look at it first at the store. I've been disappointed by the screen, having traded from my iPad 12.9" and Brydge Keyboard. For example, trying to watch Invasion's dark scenes (and there are a lot) has been a real sore spot with me because this screen is really hard to see and doesn't have very good contrast between dark and light. I'm wondering if the MBP 16" M3 screen is "iPad 12.9" quality. I guess I need to run to the Apple Store and take a look this upcoming weekend.
Yes the MacBook Pro’s have the same screen as the iPad Pro’s.
I'd much rather a USB Type A port instead of the SD card slot. For my use case that would be more useful. But I guess Apple target photoshop and graphics people with that kind or port load out.

@@halami2149 Sure. But in the world of music production asset renewal cycles are sometimes 60 or even more years long. We still use microphones from the 60s for example because, well, they're unbeatable in terms of sound quality to this day. Same with outboard. A USB AD/DA converter once designed doesn't need to be replaced for well over a decade. All this to say there are lots of USB devices in the music world that are not going to see the end of operational life for quite some time yet. And supposedly we're designing computers for people to use; to do something with? Otherwise what's the point? So while your particular vertical might be served better with a uniform interface load out there are other verticals and industries where this approach would actually be less helpful. But yeah I agree with you in principle. It would be great if we could just standardize on USB C. Would fix a lot problems.
Are you planning on benchmarking this one with some heavy stuff? Im thinking on pulling the trigger on this one but all the people I know that actually work on all that areas that you mention dont recommend apple products to work with. I do video editing but Im concerned in the resell value if it not fit me in the actuall pro market.

I’m currently a college student right now and have a M1 Pro 14 inch for most of what I do in a day professionally and school wise my computer handles alright I have to use split screen a lot having multiple windows open for homework and the 14 inch screen size can be such a headache I don’t want to waste money but is it a horrible idea to go into the 16inch this year and just resale my pro to get the screen real estate
Is the difference between the 16 inch M1 MacBook Pro and the 16 inch M3 MacBook Pro the equivalent of taking old batteries out of a tv remote and putting fresh new ones in?

Do you really need to upgrade from an M1 chip to a M3 chip if you are just using the top 5-10 most popular apps/websites on your MacBook Pro? Would Twitter and UA-cam and Instagram really benefit from the M3 chip?
Hi! No it won't make a difference. This is because the M1 has plenty of capacity for those tasks. Lest say I want to carry 1 liter of water every day, do I need to upgrade to a 2 liter bottle? But if you do very intensive tasks, like 3D rendering, game development or even a snall portion of software development, you will see the difference.
99.99999% of the humans on this would NEVER need this computer. For anything tbh.

Yea, so I bought one of the M1 Pros back in early 2022, and it's so incredibly disappointing that the current base models are basically the same specs as the 2021. models. Sure apple finally increased ram by a whole 2gb, that must have really been difficult on you apple, but still sitting at a 512gb SSD for over $2k???? It's just insane to me. I will not be upgrading until we see larger base space spec. No thanks. Love my MacBooks, and you could even call me an apple fanboi but I'm not going to rationalize poor decisions for Apple. I'm not their marketing team, I'm a consumer who is paying $2k and up for a laptop.
I am trying to decide between getting 48gb or 64gb memory. I also would prefer the 2tb but I am not sure if going up to these bigger specs is worth it. Is dropping to the 30 core gpu a decent option or is it better to just go with the 40 core? I am so indecisive when it comes to configuring a 16 inch max.
I wish i had a use case for a MacBook. I have the m1 air and i haven’t touched it in at least a year and when i did use it i updated it, closed it and put it away😩
